"Mr. President, how nice of you to call," Pyr said. Laughter can be heard in his voice. He put the bassinet on the table and absently stroked Cole's soft cheek. The baby leaned onto his touch making him smile in the process.
However, his smile slowly vanished. A frown started to form the more he listened. His anger and frustration began to grow.
He stood up and began to walk around the vicinity of the backyard. His movements were stiff and worried. His agitation grew in every step he took. And when the call ended, he took a deep breath before he dialed another number.
Anger flared and his phone shattered as he listened to the person at the other end of the line. He needed to discipline some of the new prospects. Arrogance was never tolerated in his club. If there was one thing that all RagTag members knew, arrogance will lead to your downfall. Sadly, the new prospects have yet to understand it.
A soft hand touched his back. He could never sense when Angel was near him. It was like she would pop into the woodwork. For the past six days that they had been living under the same roof, he cannot pinpoint where she was. No scent, no energy pulse, even her footsteps were not heard. He had lived for a long time, and the only people who could sneak up on him were the Aetos pack.
His gut told him that she was somehow connected to them, but since Jin has claimed her as his mate, and she does have amnesia, forcing her to remember who she was will not help her. Stavros and Leander were the most dominating males he had met. To think that the older Aetos considered him his son was an honor he wore like a badge.
"Pizza is ready," she quietly told him. He could feel the heat from the palm of her hand. There were two layers of clothing separating their bare flesh, yet to him; it felt like nothing was between them.
Pyr nodded without looking at her. He was afraid to speak. The anger building inside him was too new, given that the person who got hurt was close to him, Jin was affected as well.
"At least tell me what has been bugging you." Angel stated she was repeatedly poking his back before she added, "Are you constipated, Pyr? You have like five bathrooms in your house. Heck, you can even poop in your yard, look at this place!"
'For the love of,' was all Pyr thought. The woman has no drop of fear in her system. People Who had known him for a long time tended to stay clear of his path when he was mad. But Angel? Oh no, she was the opposite.
"Babe, I don't get constipation," he began.
"Really? I have seen how much food you eat! Are you –"
"Babe," he cut her off, "I have never experienced constipation. It is rare for shifters to have it." He looked back at her. The little viper was smiling. He shook his head and slowly turned around. He doesn't want to be subjected to her famous kotegaeshi throw. The men in his crew were masochists. They seem to enjoy being thrown on the ground.
He took her hand and held it against his heart. She was tiny as heck. Her red eyes though, you could see the strength, and wisdom shining in them. Her mind might have lost some of her important memories, but her body remembered.
He looked at where Cole was sleeping and glanced inside the house. Kayla was watching the pizza she made, waiting for it to cool down. Pyr looked back at Angel and he could see questions in her eyes.
Pyr took another deep breath and said, "I need to be away for a few days. The President was shot earlier this morning. I was just talking to his mate. She –"
"Mate?" she interrupted.
"Yes. Babe, The President of this country was attacked just this morning. The prospects that I sent to guard him as protection were fucking with some bimbos when the shooting happened," his voice had that guttural quality.
"Do they have any idea who was behind it?" Angel asked in a calm soothing voice as she lightly tapped his chest matching the rhythm of his heart.
"That is the problem. We have too many people to tag and not enough people to do it," he replied in a frustrated voice. "I am not worried about him dying. He is a shifter for life's sake."
"Then why are you worried if he will not die?"
Pyr closed his eyes, trying his best not to get irritated with the woman. He was going to leave her and the kids for a couple of days, and it was causing Jin to be antsy too.
"I need to be away for a couple of days, Angel. Ven and Mocha will be coming with me. I need to make sure that everything is –"
"When will you leave?" she interrupted.
"Why do you keep interrupting me?"
"Why do you keep on beating around the bushes?" she countered.
"Because I do not want to leave you and the kids!" he bellowed.
Cole flinched from his slumber, and Pyr instantly walked to him, making sure he did not wake the little guy. He cursed himself and breathed a sigh of relief when the baby stayed asleep. He looked at Angel and a soft smile was on her lips.
"Go." She simply said. "I will hold the fort."
"Angel," he said her name in a husky way.

Angel felt a shiver run down her spine. It made her body warm all over and somehow…she felt something…
"The President is important to you. So, go. We are okay. I can handle the kids and the rest of your crew," Angel did not know where the confidence was coming from, but it felt right to say the words. "Thea will be with me, Pyr. She had been asking when she can have the kids all by herself. This will be a good dry run for the kids to get to know her."
"Angel, babe," he said.
'Why is he looking at me like that?' she thought. There was a possessive look in his eyes that made it impossible for her to look away. His hand reached out and touched her hair, letting the stands glide his fingers. He gave a gentle tug, making her lose her balance. His arms automatically went around her waist drawing her close to him.
Her body responded and she became wet. Arousal flared between them. She was caught off guard and his next action shocked her very core.
He did more than just kiss her. He showed her that he owned her.
