"Lord Celestrios! We kneel before you, please come save us!" An old man with a face full of wrinkles shouted as loud as he could, kneeling to a statue of what looked like a plain humble man.
Thousands of people followed his lead in terror and closed their eyes. A kid peeked through and looked towards the sky, the mighty demon was laughing loudly. He suddenly shivered and closed his eyes.
"Are you idiots? Uuus uuuuus usuususu," Vormagor, the demon chuckled as he saw the 'drama' the people were presenting him with. He looked at an infant hugging his mother and licked his lips feeling his hunger growing. Behind the statue was an army of demons. The vast grassland was painted red and carcasses of humans were everywhere, their condition was so bad that they were unrecognizable.
"Firrrst let meee destroy this pitiful statue uus uuus ussuusss," A black whip appeared in Vormagor's hand and he flicked it towards the statue.
"NOOO!!" The elder shouted as he looked at the whip flying towards the statue.
As soon as the whip touched the statue it stopped. The chilling atmosphere suddenly warmed up and a feeling of calmness engulfed all the people kneeling, they suddenly felt reassured. The black sky turned yellowish golden and a figure wearing poor grey robes started descending. The holes in the robes were sewn with patches of dark grey fabric.
"Lord Celestrios....." The elder teared up.
The man looked tired and his eyes were droopy, as if he just woke up from a deep slumber but there was a firmness in those droopy eyes. He looked at Vormagor and sighed, "Malevolithar never learns does he?"
Vormagor's smirk was wiped from his face and hints of fear appeared in his eyes, "Do not call him by his name you filthy dog!"
"You are all going to pay for what you have done," Celestrios spoke tiredly and closed his eyes, raising his hands the sky turned blueish green, and a small ball of light formed in his hand.
Vormagor widened his eyes and before he could do anything the ball exploded, the light engulfed everything and the demons burst open, the black blood spilling everywhere and immediately disintegrating into the air. Within a second entire demon army was wiped out and there was no sign of Vormagor.
Celestrios looked at the elder and spoke in a humble voice, "I am sorry Maximus, I was late."
Maximus suddenly jumped to his feet, "NO NO Lord! Please don't apologize! We are indebted to you!" He kneeled again, his head touching the ground.
Celestrios sighed and mumbled something, Maximus immediately flew up in the air, towards Celestrios and stopped in front of him. The God flicked his hand and a scroll appeared in thin air.
"This is the spell I created long back, oracle foresaw the future and I made it just in case, master it, and summon humans from another galaxy to make up for our losses. It might take half a century but it will most definitely work." He spoke as the scroll flew towards Maximus, he grabbed it and bowed again.
Celestrios flicked his hand and suddenly a bright light engulfed Maximus, his appearance started changing. All the wrinkles on his face disappeared and his hair turned black, the frail body bulked up with flesh and his back straightened. Maximus widened his eyes.
"You will live for another 200 years at least..... By that time I shall recover enough." Celestrios mumbled the latter part. "Until then, live long and prosper. I am sorry for being late again, we lost so much." He spoke in a sad voice.
"NO NO, LORD!" Maximus bowed again, "I- I will make sure to protect everyone and grow more strong. I will most definitely master this spell!"
Celestrios nodded and gazed at the people who were smiling at him. "Don't worry, my believers! Thank you for trusting me. I apologize for being a bit late, but remember this: whenever you are in pain, when you think all hope is lost when you contemplate accepting defeat, remember me. Pray to me, and I will assist you!"
The humans cheered loudly and bowed to him again. Celestrios smiled faintly and nodded, closing his eyes his figure flew towards the sky leaving a trail of golden light behind, the clouds parted forming a circle, making way for the God. Everyone looked with wide eyes as he disappeared.
Celestrios looked towards the land one last time with a sad expression. "I won't be able to protect you or hear your prayers my loved ones. Not for 200 years, I have done enough and it's taking a toll on me. I must sleep. I have faith in you Maximus, don't disappoint me." He sighed and closed his eyes, his body disintegrating into the sky as it changed its color from yellowish-golden to blue.
Maximus slowly raised his head as he descended towards the stage the statue was standing tall, he looked at everyone and spoke, "I have a spell that will call humans from another galaxy and they will assist us in growing again. It will take me many decades to learn. Until then we need to increase our numbers, we are less than 6000 in the entire continent! Demons won't attack now and they have suffered their entire army, it might take more than a century for them to gain in numbers so we have time! Please bear with me." He bowed towards the people before flying towards the destroyed castle.
One guy looked at Elder Maximus flying away and looked at his friend, "He's basically telling us to procreate with females." He smiled lasciviously, glancing towards the females who were in thought.
His friend laughed and followed his gaze, "We really got lucky back then. If not for you I would have died."
"Well, better give demons what they want or they will kill you. Now that the threat is over let's follow our dear Elder Maximus's order?" He chortled and his friend did the same.
Meanwhile, inside a chamber Maximus looked at the scroll with a hard expression, "I will definitely learn this in time. Don't worry my lord."
