"Finally!" A man shouted loudly in excitement. He had a long beard with streaks of grey hair, and he was wearing a golden robe and a wooden sandal. "Took me 60 years! But now everything is done!"
"Lord Maximus, are you okay?" A man in his mid-fifties barged into the room in panic.
"AAHAHAAH! Don't worry Augustus! The spell is complete. Let's call reinforcements!" He laughed loudly.
Augustus's eyes widened as he looked at Maximus grinning. "I shall inform everyone, my lord!" He quickly ran outside.
Maximus stood outside his balcony and sighed, "It's been 60 years and we have managed to increase our population to 60,000. But it's still not enough. Almost all of the villages are empty, we need to colonize everything again. The jungles are more dangerous now, even our spells are lost. Let's hope the people from another galaxy help us." He closed his eyes and prayed to Celestrios.
In a shanty situated near the walls of the main city.
"Vaelorian! Come on they are making an announcement!" A little girl shouted at her lazy brother who was looking towards the ceiling.
"Stop shouting in my ears Celia," Vael grumbled and got up. He moved out of the hut following his half-sister Celia. Thousands of shanties were next to each other and people were flowing out of them, towards the main and the only city also known as Aetherholm. Vael had never been to the city because of his status, all he knew was that the city was filled with luxury. In fact, this was the same for all of the kids of the shanty, they were the 'mistakes'.
"Where is mom?"
"She is already inside the city," Celia spoke as she led the way with many kids following behind.
The shanties were on the outskirts of Aetherholm's walls. And on the outskirts of shanties were metal fences with electric crystals infused with them to keep the animals out. Knowledge and spells were in scarcity because many cities were destroyed the scrolls and books were missing and the Aetherholm's resources were in bad condition despite being preserved.
"Wow!" Celia exclaimed loudly as they passed the gates, several mansions made of white marble came into Vael's view, and at the farthest end were large Golden Walls of the palace called Celestal Haven.
According to the stories Vael heard, King Maximus chatted with the Eternal God Celestrios and was given the most powerful spell to help humanity.
Personally, Vael was very excited to see King Maximus and the elders of Celestal Haven, he heard they were the only ones who had access to scrolls containing spells. Vael was 14 but didn't know a single spell, all he did was just circulate mana into his body like everyone.
He also heard that before the 'Vornagor's Calmity scrolls and knowledge were always in abundance.
Soon they reached the golden walls where everyone else was waiting outside, two elders standing on the thick wall and looking down as everyone else stood before them.
"Lord Maximus is coming! Bow your heads!" One of them shouted and suddenly a wave of thick mana pushed everyone on their knees.
Vael looked at the man flying towards them. 'So this is the strongest human alive.'
Maximus made his way and stood on the wall next to the elder before levitating again. Once he was at the center and could see everyone he stopped and mumbled something, the thick mana pressure suddenly lightened.
"Thank you everyone for helping me till now. We have tremendously grown in numbers but it is still far from our original numbers. Therefore I have decided to call for reinforcements from another planet in another galaxy!" Maximus paused for a second to let this information digest and then began again, "They will come from a long way and I hope that you can get acquainted with them and help them in all the possible way! Also from next month, I will be providing you with knowledge about how to use spells and you all will get one basic spell that might help you when in danger."
"Long live King Maximus!" After a few seconds passed everyone broke up from their daze and cheered loudly. Maximus nodded lightly and waited for the cheers to dissolve.
"I will call our reinforcement right away, the spell formation is complete and is in the castle's grand hall! As soon as they arrive I will let them know about our circumstances and help them accommodate so I might not be available for the first few days, please bear with me again." Maximus bowed and started flying into the castle again.
Vael observed as the King was flying away, 'I need to see this.' He started moving towards the golden walls. Soon he reached towards the wall but noticed that there wasn't any gate or even space for entrance. Many of the kids were copying Vael, so it didn't look suspicious and Elders let the curious kids do what they want.
Vael slowly touched the wall and felt something flowing inside him, he immediately broke the contact and the feeling stopped. 'It's mana!' His eyes widened and he touched the wall again.
'Can I absorb this?' He thought and tried to circulate the mana and immediately felt shock and was pushed back. Vaelorian coughed up a droplet of blood and looked at his hand. "You are a weird kid. What do you think you are doing?" A stern voice came behind him.
Vael turned and saw a middle-aged man glaring at him. "The wall is so pretty!" Vael spoke in excitement, "I wanted to touch it, I have never seen something like this before!"
Looking at the overly-excited kid the man snorted, "Well no wonder, what would a kid from the shanty know. Just stay away from the wall and go back home."
"Yes! Bye!" Vael turned around and walked a few steps looking back, the man was greeting an elder.
"Make way through please!" Vael heard someone shouting and turned towards the source and saw around 10 carts moving in a line, they were filled with resources and one of the open carts had thick blankets on the top. Vael quickly moved towards the carts, at this time people had started moving back to their homes and he only had a little time otherwise he would stick out like a sore thumb. Vael blended into the crowd and moved closer to the carts.
He looked around and saw a kid smaller than looking at the carts in wonder, Vael slowly moved towards him and pushed him towards the cart. The kid fell down hard and unfortunately, his hand came in between the wheel. "AAAAAHHHHHHH!" The cries of the kid gathered everyone's attention and they immediately stopped the cart. Vael moved to the other side and jumped into the open cart with blankets.
"My kid!" A voice came behind him and a woman ran to her crying kid, picking him up.
"Come on, let's get his bones treated."
"See that's why kids shouldn't be so goddamn curious every time!"
"I hope he is okay."
Vael could hear all sorts of conversation and after a minute the carts started moving again.
