Ch-2
"If not money, what do you want?" the handsome man asked as he walked in front of Luciana.
Hearing his voice, she came out of her trance.
"An apology!" Evelynn interjected.
"Yes, apologize," Luciana said.
"You should have said that earlier," he said with narrowed eyes.
"Callum, get some cash and throw it in their faces. Call another car, we are getting late," he said to the driver.
"Who do think you are? We asked for an apology and you are treating us like beggars!" Luciana said, pointing her finger at him.
"I apologize this way. Take it or leave it," he said with a sneer, staring down at Luciana.
"Really?" Luciana asked as she crossed her hands.
"Indeed, you poor people are the only ones who create such drama," he said as he stretched his hand towards his driver.
Luciana looked at Evelynn and smirked. Evelynn looked confused but Luciana winked at her.
"Ahhhh!!!! Wuwuwu…. How could you do this? We did nothing! And you are blaming us even if it's your fault," Luciana said as she started crying loudly attracting onlookers' attention.
"You crashed into us. And then got us hurt. All we ask is an apology but you are insulting us," Luciana said as she cried harder. Passerbys slowed down and started eavesdropping.
"See, my friend's hand was bleeding. We are not asking for damage costs but an apology. How could you do this to us? We may be poor but not for your money!" Luciana said irritating the man while gaining the onlookers' sympathy.
Evelynn caught her point and lowered her head like she was crying.
The man who was standing in front of her looked shocked for a second. But as seconds passed it turned into irritation "Shut up! Just take the money and leave. You are obstructing us," Callum said. Little did he know he was falling right into their trap.
"How can you be so arrogant? She is bleeding yet you are talking about money? You shall take them to hospital and pay the damages for them," an old lady cut in, shaking her head at Callum.
"Yes, they only asked for an apology but you are showing your arrogance," another said.
"Rich people always think of themselves as gods," another one said.
"Even now… they are asking us to pay damages even though they crossed us on the red light. They didn't follow the rules," Evelynn said.
"Oh! I see it now, they were afraid to get into a traffic case and were trying to rub it on two innocent girls," Someone said.
"See he doesn't even feel guilty after doing all these things," someone said.
"Discuss this later, take them to the hospital first! That's a lot of blood," someone else yelled.
"Yes," everyone started to force him to take them to the hospital.
"Enough, I am not gonna take them to the hospital. They crashed into us," he said not able to suppress the anger and irritation.
Hearing his angry voice everyone felt scared. Just then Luciana heard a kid crying loudly. She looked around only to see the kid's cries were heard from the car.
"Stop yellingl. Even your son is startled,do you have no forethought of your actions?" Luciana chided him.
Hearing her, indeed he could hear his son's cries. Before he could react, the kid came and hugged his legs. His son didn't like crowds. He must be crying because he was scared of the crowd.
"Callum, settle this. We will leave," he said, pulling his son away roughly, making the kid wince in pain.
"Oh please, you can't leave till you apologize. And put the kid down! He is hurting!" she said, advancing forward.
She crouched in front of the boy, careful not to touch him. He was someone else's child after all.
"Your dad's just a little mad. He will not shout from now on, okay? It's okay." she said as she calmed him down.
Gradually the kid quieted his cries and extended his arms towards the woman in front of him, with her round face and fleshy cheeks, tinted red from the earlier frustration. Her ponytail held back her usually shielding hair, her sincerity even more clear to him.
Seeing the kid calm down, she smiled softly at him, wiping his stained cheeks.
"Are you okay, love?" she asked the kid.
He nodded, tapping his finger against her face clumsily.
The man stood there, the sight of his son smiling at a stranger made his blood boil.
He roughly yanked his son away and put him gently into the car.
"Arrogant Jerk! Don't even know how to say thanks or sorry," Luciana proclaimed, guarding her words now that a child was present.
The silent onlookers looked at them and started chiding him.
"Dad, aunty is hurt. Charlie wants to take her to the hospital," the boy said still being in a stranger's arms, his cute face shrouded in concern.
"The kid has more conscience than the grown man his father is," someone scoffed.
"Brother, there are some paparazzi here. We have to resolve this quickly." Callum replied.
"Take them to hospital," he said.
"I want to go with aunty," Charlie said.
"Nope, you need to go to school," he said.
The kid started crying again.
"Fine, let's go together. Get someone to replace that stupid bike with a new one with the same brand," the man said to Callum.
Just then another car came. He asked both irritating women to enter the car. Seeing that things were settling down everyone started leaving, While Callum stayed behind to clean the mess.
Evelynn sat in the front seat while Luciana sat in the back seat along with the arrogant man. She just twisted her lips at him but the kid was too cute.
"Hi," Luciana said. Little Charlie immediately clambered over to her and plopped down next to her.
"What's your name?" she asked him.
"Charlie," he said.
"Oh, you've got a pretty name," she said, ruffling his hair.
"You've got a booboo," he said as he looked at her palm. His face was covered with evident worry, Which Luciana didn't understand.
Luciana blinked her eyes at the kid and looked at him with confusion.
She looked at the arrogant man asking for an explanation.
"He is saying you are hurt," he replied, his face devoid of emotion as he watched their interaction.
She looked at her palm, her palm was scraped. Not only her palm but also her arm. Blood isn't dripping much but the injuries were clearly caused by the road. They may even leave scars.
Luciana moved her hand out of sight and continued entertaining the boy.
