Damon looked at Echo with a raised eyebrow, 'What is she talking about? We just got here, how am I supposed to have found something when all I've been doing today is trying to get her used to my mansion.'
Echo crossed her arms and tilted her head, 'He comes barging in here, and now he's staring at me as if I've said something wrong… Well at least he looks hot.'
"No! I didn't find anything," Damon replied, after watching Echo's movements. He smirked, and walked past Echo stopping at the window to look at the view.
Echo turned her gaze to Damon, "Everything alright?" She thought that maybe everything was not going well. It did make sense if it wasn't, because he had just attacked several demons a couple of weeks before to rescue her. So maybe the demons didn't trust him anymore.
Damon sighed, "Does something have to be wrong for me to visit you?"
Echo glanced to her right, and then thought to herself, 'He literally just saw me at lunch… Does this mean he misses me?' Echo smiled at the thought, and scratched her head.
"Does this mean you missed me?" Echo asked. She immediately regretted asking the question, because in a split second Damon was standing in front of her, with smoke surrounding him.
Damon stared at Echo with his emotionless face. How was she able to read him so easily? He wanted to talk to her about the mission too, but the main reason for his visit was to see how she was doing. He might have seen her at lunch, but Rose was with them too, so he couldn't talk much with her.
"How could you read me so easily, love?" Damon asked, in a husky voice.
Echo gulped at the sound of his voice. Why was he being so sweet all of a sudden? He was treating her like she was nothing earlier. Was it really all just for the cover story?
Damon had his eyes fixed on Echo's, waiting for her reply. "You okay?"
"Huh?" Echo snapped out of her thoughts, realising how close Damon was to her. She swiftly took a step back, "Uhh! Did you say something?... Oh right! You asked something… right?"
Damon broke into a short stifled laugh, 'She looks so cute when she's confused.'
"I didn't scare you, did I?" Damon asked, as the smoke dissipated around him.
"No! No! Why would I be scared of you? You just surprised me… anyway what did you want to talk about?"
Damon turned his gaze to the ground, and his eyebrows creased. "I think there's a mole in the mansion."
"And what makes you think that?"
"Denzel… he knew about you. There's no way word would have passed that fast, unless someone is sniffing out information from us."
Echo thought for a while before asking, "Do you have any idea who it might be? You must have your suspicions."
Damon smirked, "There's one rule I follow everything, love."
Echo raised her eyebrow, expecting him to continue.
"Suspect everyone, until proven otherwise," Damon blurted.
Echo stared at Damon, 'Is he going to say more, or just stare at me like I'm a suspect too?'
Damon stared at Echo with his eyes opened wide, he blinked a few times, hoping she would say something.
Echo finally broke the silence, "So am I a suspect too?"
Damon smiled, and sat on the bed, "Do you want to be a suspect? Because I thought you were 'proven otherwise'." He ended the sentence in a whisper.
Echo glared at Damon, "Jerk!" He might have been very handsome, but he knew how to annoy her.
Damon's eyes soften at the sound of her annoyed voice. Was she really annoyed with him? "I'm just messing with you. But we really need to be careful around the mansion."
"Are you sure that it's a mole? The mansion could be bugged."
"That would be a difficult task. The whole mansion has cameras, except in the rooms."
Echo sighed, and sat on the bed next to Damon, "Someone could have hacked into the cameras, changed everything. Or if this is someone supernatural… they could have used a spell to become invisible, or even enchanted to cameras."
Damon turned to Echo, "Enchanted the cameras?"
"There's an enchantment that makes you invisible to a specific camera," Hunter explained, gaining both Echo and Damon's attention.
Damon thought to himself, 'An enchantment spell? I doubt anyone would do something like that, since it is a long shot. It'll be difficult.'
"Let's try to find if there is a mole first, and then check for an enchantment spell. The former seems easier," Damon replied.
"Shouldn't that be a job for you? If I go checking around the mansion, they'll suspect me," Echo answered, staring at Damon.
"I'm hoping they do. If I get caught searching for a mole, they would know that I'm onto them. If you happen to stumble across the mole while trying to get intel for the Protectors… it won't affect my position with the demons."
Echo glared at Damon, "So you want me to be your scapegoat?"
"I wouldn't call it a scapegoat," Damon stood up, and continued while swiftly walking to the door, "More like my partner, love." He looked back at Echo with a wink and opened the door, leaving the room.
Echo glanced at Hunter who was silent, and then at the door. She laid back on the bed, 'Why am I always the henchman?' Rolling her eyes, Echo stood up from the bed, walking to the door.
"Where are you going?" Hunter asked, standing up and dusting herself.
Echo turned back to Hunter, "Stay here. Don't let anyone inside. I am going to cause trouble in the mansion."
"I don't-" Hunter's voice died down once Echo shut the door behind her.
Echo took a deep breath, and looked around the hallway. 'Which one is Rose's room? If I can find her room and cause a scene, it would make things easier. I would be able to announce myself to everyone in the mansion… Which also means that it must be big.'
Silently making her way to the nearest door, she tapped lightly waiting for a response.
