The door was opened for Damon and Echo. Damon gave a slight nod to the doorman, who nodded back.
Echo gazed around the restaurant, 'Wow! This place looks really nice!' She was astonished by the setting. Bright yellow lights lit up the whole restaurant, and at the centre was a large spiral raindrop chandelier. The first floor was almost full despite the uncountable number of tables.
"This way, sir. The room has been arranged for you," the hostess spoke to Damon and led the way.
Echo noticed a few hidden glances from the other customers. She did not think much about it, since it was normal for people to be curious about a customer that just walked in.
They were shown to a private room on the second floor. The hostess gave a slight bow before vanishing out the door.
"So what are you having?" Damon asked, as he turned all his attention to his new girlfriend. He wanted Echo to feel like the star of the night, because she was his star. He did not even want to imagine how things would have turned out if he did not get the chance to see her again. What would Finn have said once he woke up and found that his sister was gone? Would he have chosen to leave this world too?
Echo turned her gaze to Damon, who was obviously lost in his thoughts, "Damon?" she called out. "Everything okay?"
Damon smiled before continuing to stare at Echo, "I'm sorry. I was just lost admiring the cute little princess in front of me."
Echo almost choked on her own spit, "What? I'm not little… or a princess!"
"You are special," Damon answered. Getting lost in her eyes, he continued, "And I don't mean any of this warrior or demon stuff that's been going on lately. I mean you are the most special person in this whole world to me, and that makes you my princess… No!... That makes you my queen!"
Echo had no words to say to him, 'What did he just say? Oh my gosh! He really knows how to give me butterflies. Please don't melt into a puddle.' She felt her heart nearly fly out of her chest and into his. She stared at him with twinkly eyes as she appreciated his cheesy pickup line.
The two had their eyes locked on each other, just like earlier, when they were in the garage. Neither of them wanted to break eye contact. For the two of them, time seemed to slow down, and everything around them was irrelevant. The ticking of the clock became distant, and so did all the other noises that they heard. The only thing in their sight was each other.
"Sir! Ma'am!" the waitress called out once again. She had been there for a while, but neither Damon nor Echo noticed her.
Echo turned to the waiter, snapping out of the heart lock, and Damon followed.
"Have you decided what you will be having?" the waitress asked.
Damon glanced at Echo and back at the waitress, "I think we'll need some more time. Thank you."
The waitress nodded, "Sure, sir. Take your time. You can call one of us by using the button on the caller." She pointed to a remote-like device on the centre of the table.
Damon gace a slight nod, and the waitress left them alone once again.
Echo was embarrassed by the encounter. She lowered her head to check the menu card in hopes that she wouldn't make eye contact with Damon once again.
'What just happened? Was I that… no no! Echo stop! This is so embarrassing. I should probably try to avoid eye contact with him. His eyes are too mesmerising. I feel like I'm being pulled into his soul when I look at him. Has he put a spell on me? Why am I feeling so much in love with him? Oh my goodness! I just want to scream.' Echo couldn't control her thoughts that were driving her crazy.
Damon on the other hand had everything under control. 'Is she avoiding eye contact now? Does she think she can get away from me?' He gave a slight smirk at the thought, and watched Echo.
"Did you decide what you're having?"
"Huh?" Echo lifted her gaze on Damon, immediately averting her gaze away.
Damon stared at Echo, and leaned forward, "You have been staring at the menu all this time. So did you decide on what you're eating?" He spoke in a soft voice, as he had his unwavering gaze on her. He was testing her to see if his analysis was right.
"I need to check this more," Echo smiled awkwardly, and covered her face with the menu card. 'What? What was that Echo? Why did you cover your face with the menu car? Now he'll think that you're weird.' She shrunk into her seat. 'You should look back at him, Echo. Don't make this any more awkward than it is now.'
Echo lowered the menu card slowly. She made eye contact with Damon, who was now crossing his hands and glaring at her with a slightly tilted head. Echo lifted the card back up to cover her face.
'He is angry. He is definitely angry with me now. Great work Echo. You just ruined your first date with your first boyfriend.' Echo thought of the worst.
'She is definitely avoiding me. Hasn't she been taught that going out on a date with someone means that she can't get away from them. Oh my love, you are one of a kind aren't you. I know so many people who would die to be in your position right now… That's it!' Damon' s eyes widened as he got an idea from that thought.
"Don't you have any questions to ask me?" Damon asked, leaning back on his chair. He tilted his head to the side and rested it on his hand.
Echo glanced at the handsome man in front of her and immediately averted her eyes away once again. "Why are you asking me that? Do you have something to ask me?"
Taking this as an opportunity, Damon leaned forward and pushed the menu card out of Echo's hand.
The card fell on the table as Echo blinked several times, and gulped hard.
