Chapter 22 - Kyra

The plan has been fulfilled steadily. The Verdant Demon reconnected the portal used by Kyra to the World Tree. At first, it did not grant them entrance and resolutely rejected them.

When the Fairy King's body was resurrected. The hundred armies that paraded through Elven Croft Palace and returned empty-handed gaped in disbelief. They thought that the King was dead. Why is it moving now? Are fairies really that tenacious and sturdy to be able to stay alive without their heads?

The Leader noticed his army's fear and said,

"Temporary resurrection is necessary to be granted entrance. Ready yourselves to depart."

"Yes, sire!" They silently rejoice in their hearts. So it's a puppet. It's a good thing the fairy king's daughter has successfully killed him, saving them a lot of trouble. If not, the Leader might have a hard time defeating him with the Fairy King's massive curse magic.

All humans present and who had witnessed the fight shook in fear. They don't want to step into a land reeking with curse and poison. They could only confidently raid the land after the Verdant Demon cleaned the atmosphere of poison.

They don't know where the Leader found him or how they made a contract, but the Verdant Demon is one of the powerful forces in the demon realm. His power involves controlling puppets and sucking living /cosmic energy to sustain himself.

Curse magic is a cosmic energy from faeries, of course the Verdant Demon is able to feast on it with relish earlier. His power rises after raiding the land clean of poison.

When the group was finally granted entrance, the Leader turn to Verdant Demon,

"Bring all the surviving captured faeries here. Let the armies continue to raid every nook and crook of this realm. Remember, not one must survive."

"Yes, master." The Verdant Demon heeded and vanished instantly.

The Leader swept his eyes towards the willow vines majestically shielding the inner part of the forest. This must be the last attempt for protection.

"Walk." He pushed the Faery King forward. The headless King staggered and brushed his body against the vines. After he gained entry, the Leader went inside with him and pierced the barrier from the inside.

Most barriers are strong and sturdy on the outside but weak and fragile on the inside. After the Leader infused it with his magic, the barrier crumbled miserably.

The Fairy Tinkers who accompanied Kyra earlier went into hiding. They crouched behind the boulder and tried to stay as inconspicuous as possible. And yet, the Leader shot a ray of red laser beam towards the World Tree. This caused agitation among all of the tinkers.

They hurriedly shot forward towards the Leader and blinded him using their golden dust. However, before they could get any closer to him, nets were thrown in their heads, trapping them in midway.

The fairy tinkers panicked and started to screech violently.

"Look for any small creatures like them. And then kill them." The Leader said offhandedly. His laser is piercing through the World Tree.

"Yes, sire!"

Because of the mana contaminated around it, the protection is flimsy. Hence, it is unable to guard against the Leader's assault. The World Tree can't hold on to its heavy branches on top. And half of its body has been slanted.

This obviously has a considerable negative effect on all fairies. especially for the captured ones. The human army forced them to walk towards the portal the Verdant Demon led them to. The captive fairies slumped on the ground one after another, groaning in pain.

The thousand leaves in the World Tree swayed and started to fall off the branches one by one.

The fairies are also dying without the army doing anything. The Verdant Demon ushered all of them to carry the dead faeries and help the ones in pain towards the World Tree.

The Fairy Tinkers are also in unimaginable pain. They keep screeching their throats off. Each time a soldier raised his sword to kill them, the tinker they were pointing their sword at suddenly died.

It was chaos everywhere. Leaves are falling at a rapid rate. Bodies are piling up at a fleeting rate. The human armies are puzzled.

As all of them gathered at the feet of the World Tree, they got to witness the tallest, biggest, most majestic tree in the world collapse. The leaves have mostly fallen off.

When the army looked over their shoulders and observed the last surviving fairies they captured, they figured all of them were dead. Even the fairy tinkers who kept screeching earlier.

The Verdant Demon stared at the World Tree in awe. Until he caught sight of the translucent pool at its root. He approached it, trying to get a taste. But before he could reach out, the pool suddenly bubbled and black liquid poured out, polluting its translucent color.

The Verdant Demon can only sigh in regret. He knew what the sap of the World Tree could do. Although he's not sure if it will work on demons like him... There's nothing wrong with trying.

Now he just lost the chance.

All the humans on the ground stood and watched silently as the world's biggest trunk was cleanly cut off by the Leader's laser beam.

The Leader gaze at the World Tree with satisfaction. He gazed with amusement as the black spots surrounding it earlier corrupted the trunk, rotting and eating away big chunks of its trunk.

"Have you found them all?" the Leader asked,

The human armies were silent at the moment. Sensing the dead aura in the air. Their hair rises in their arms as they gaze at this heavy atmosphere that is ten times more dangerous than the corruption that spreads on the ground.

It killed every tree, every plant, every animal, and every living creature within its area. The trees suddenly withered and blackened. The soil cracked and dried instantly.

The waters falling from the ravines have stopped and instantly evaporated.

"Si – sire! What's going on?!" The human armies panicked. They stared at the Leader who was the root of all of this, demanding answers.
