Chapter 21 - Kyra

Kyra staggered for a few steps. The Fairy King's body collapsed to the ground with a thud. The curse pulsing in his body is in chaos. Kyra can see many lumps in his veins. Some bloated until they exploded.

An ugly marsh of murky black blood poured out. Kyra can't help but smile. She staggered to his body and poke on his head.

"Kill." The sword in her hand struck the Faery King between his eyes. She sliced it across his face and his brain matter gushed out with black blood oozing out.

He was finally dead. Intense relief filled Kyra with ease. She stumbled. The sword in her hand clattered, but she did not pay it any attention.

Her body is disintegrating into ashes at the speed a naked eye can see. Her fingers are breaking down into dust, until it reach her arms and shoulders. As she crouched down next to her mother, her whole body had turned to ash.

Death finally decided to take away the last breath of the last remnant of the Elves.

Meanwhile,

The four humans invited more humans to enter the faery realm. Their army forces poured in by the thousands. The Leader of their organization gaze at the black heavy mist with heavy thunder rumbling on the horizon.

He folded his hand and cupped his ring. His black silk clothes with light armor and red cape swirled as the wind blew. Then a demon clad in green materialized in the front. It kneeled solemnly.

"Your orders, Master?"

"Disperse the curse magic."

"At your service."

The demon quickly disappeared and rushed towards the heart of the mist. One minute later, all the human armies gaped in amazement as green sparks startled the sky. It consumed the black and red thunder. Then it slowly expanded its territory and ate away the black mist.

The speed of its growth is faster than anyone expected. It starts as a single green dot at the center, then it scatters far and wide. Enclosing many towns of what used to be prosperous magical town of the fairies.

When the black mist was successfully devoured, the green mist receded in the sky. As fast as it appeared, it disappeared instantly. Then the demon came back to the Leader's side and saluted.

"Good work," The Leader nodded. "Lead and spread my army in every place inhabited by fairies. Kill any surviving fairies in the area and bring their corpse with you. Then find the World Tree."

"Yes, sire!"

Everyone dispersed and was led in different directions. The Leader stood proudly in the courtyard. His eyes scanned the desolate, crumbling place of the Elven Croft Palace. Not one wall has withstood the onslaught of the poisonous thunder. He smiled viciously.

In the end, the prestigious and prosperous fairy realm only takes one day to end their reign. Now they have to make sure not one pesky fairy survives.

The Leader hummed, clearly in a good mood. He approached the intact body of the faery king. Taking pleasure in observing the Fairy King's head sliced in half with his brain matter scattered.

"Such a pity, naive king." He shook his head. His long red cape and black armor grazed the ground as he kneeled and played with the severed damaged head.

"You must not have stopped to think about why we humans came to you after you sent your daughter to kidnap many of my high ranking men. Don't you think it's too much of a coincidence that the Ice Demon managed to kill your Twelve Elders right under your nose while your Elven Croft Palace is heavily guarded? Did you not even stop to think that maybe some of them are us? And all it took was one superficial illusion to fool you all. " The Leader burst into laughter as he stomped on the Fairy King's head.

The Leader stayed and continued to mock the Fairy King for a few hours, taking pleasure in stomping and kicking the battered severed head.

On the Leader's side, the Verdant demon who dispersed the black mist came back and saluted him.

"What news did you bring this time?"

"We found the World Tree."

"Oh? That fast?" The Leader raised his eyebrow at his demon. The Verdant Demon pointed in the direction of the entrance to the courtyard.

"I detected corrupted mana with World Tree's essence a few meters from the gate. It seems a portal was used. It's probably the Princess who came back from the World Tree to here. I traced the source and successfully located the World Tree." The demon hesitated. "But sire, we've got a problem."

"Speak."

"My power is not adequate to destroy the heavy barrier placed at the entrance. Some of your men tried to throw the faery captives they found into the barrier, but with no luck."

The Leader stared at the body of the faery king.

"It's because only high ranking officials of the Elven Croft Palace are granted entrance by the barrier. At present, only the remnants of Elven fairies and the Twelve Elders are granted passage. The barrier was made by the ancestors of the Elves. Hence, it only recognize Elven bloodlines as its master and let whoever they grant passage to get inside the World Tree."

The Verdant Demon stared at the two heaps of ashes piling side by side not a few meters away and the currently intact headless body of the Faery King.

"What do you advise we do, sire?"

"We have the body of an elf here, don't we?" The leader tilted his head and produced a loop sided smile.

"Why don't we make use of it?"

The Verdant Demon seemed to be at a loss for a few seconds before nodding and crouching down to the Fairy King. He placed his long nailed hands on his chest and let the revilitizing energy revive the dead limbs.

At once, all the destroyed veins of the fairy king were healed, and his hands were restored. His severed head was still severed, but what was unbelievable was that the headless body began to twitch.

The hands groped at the ground before standing up, unsure of where to go.

The Leader smiled at his demon's handiwork. Now he can finally proceed with his plans.
