Chapter 19 - Selective

Princess Eleanor looked at the intruder who stood in her room.

"Nia, try to explain." Princess Elanor closed her eyes as she tried to control her unsteady breaths. She tried to minimize her rage as much as she could.

There were flower pots in her room while her lady in waiting and her escort stood there in front of her with a pitiful gaze.

"That…" Nia did not know how to respond. She looked at Sir Kit who took a step forward. Seeing that Sir Kit was ready to explain, Nia took a breath of relief.

"I wanted to tell the Princess something." Sit Kit explained as he looked at the Princess. Although half of his face was covered, his aura was still strong.

Princess Eleanor did not understand what was going on. When her gaze shifted to the corner she could see some of the flowers looking lifeless as a frown spared on her face. She did not want the flower to die.

'Is it because I am transferring them too soon. Maybe they need time to grow healthier.' Princess Eleanor's mind was full of ways to make her plants healthier.

"I hope the Princess is well aware that she would not be able to take these plants to the Empire." Sir Kit said in a soft tone as if trying to make it sound obvious.

Princess Eleanor was a little confused, "What does Sir Kit mean? Are people not allowed to bring a mere set of plants? I never knew the Empire was so strict in terms of such trivial things."

"It is not a trivial thing. I am informing you just in case the Princess does not know. The Royal Palace of Roulux Empire does not allow Princesses to bring anything apart from their daily necessities, clothes, and jewelry."

"And why is that?" Princess Eleanor folded her hand as her lips curled up arrogantly, "Is it because the Royals that stay in the Royal Palace of Roulux Empire are afraid that someone might harm them? A Princess might harm them?"

Although Princess Eleanor said those words softly, the ridicule in her tone was obvious. It felt as if she was saying, 'My little plants will harm you? Seriously?' with a smile.

Sir Kit took a deep breath. 'She is giving me a headache,' His hands ran through his hair in irritation.

"Princess is free to think whatever she feels like but let me explain this to you as your escort. If the Princess wants to stay safe in the Roulux Empire she should keep her existence low. A visible person, for good or bad, will perk the interest of people. And if the Princess wants to return she should be the last person doing so."

Sir Kit was calm. His eyes stared straight into Princess Eleanor's as if he was making a child understand.

Princess Eleanor understood it too. But the plants were something that was close to her. "Is there no other way?"

MAybe Sirr Kit saw the longing in Princess Eleanor's eyes. I sighed as he looked at the plants. Some plains were whereabouts to drop their stem while some were still standing straight. "The Princess cannot plant the flowers in the Royal garden but she can plant them somewhere else."

"Somewhere else?" Princess Eleanor's eyes brightened. "Where?"

Sir Kit chuckled as he saw the excitement in Princess Eleanor's eyes. "If the Princess let someone else plant it in their garden." Sir Kit could not help but say but soon he shook his head as he thought it was a bad idea. "Anyway the Princess does not know anyone in the Empire. And why do Princesses even need these plants?"

Princess Eleanor was silent for a few seconds before she smiled, "I like the scent of Salvia so I like to make soaps and perfumes out of it. I don't know which variety of these flowers the Empire has so I plan to take mine. Sir Kit should not object if I make some and take them with me. I can take the seeds if plants are not allowed."

Sir Kit could not object to Princess Eleanor's words. He could only nod as he saw Princess Eleanor looking at his hand. "Nia, have you washed your hands?"

Nia nodded. "What about Sir Kit? I saw him bring back the bags."

Nia was silent for a few seconds. "That …" She bit her lips. Although she was habitual to do it, Nia never thought of telling Sir Kit.

Princess Eleanor got her answer. "Bring water and soap. And start the preparation to utilize these flowers. We cannot delay any more."

Nia nodded her head as she left the room. Soon the bucket full of water and soap was delivered.

"Please wash your hands." Princess Eleanor instructed Sir Kit to use them, but the man was silent. He was observing and looking at the Princess who had a smile on her face but was a little anxious.

"Why is the Princess so stubborn regarding washing the hands?" Sir Kit could not help himself but ask. His question was logical according to him.

Princess Eleanor blinked a few times, "Maybe because my grandmother had made me this way." There was a slight longing in her tone, "She used to say that whenever you do gardening or touch an unknown flower or plant you should wash your hands properly. You might be allergic to them."

Sir Kit nodded his head. Princess Eleanor's explanation was correct. There were many people in the Empire too that was allergic to pollen. If the rumors were to be believed, the Crown Prince was one of them. Maybe that was the reason why the Royal garden was so selective of the things they planted in the garden.

"But I know the Salvia flower. I am not allergic to them." Although Sir Kit said those words, he still moved forward to wash his hands.

Princess Eleanor's eyes showed her satisfaction, "Sir Kit should not forget that he is my escort knight now. Rather than questioning, he should follow my words."

Sir Kit rolled his eyes as he chose not to reply. 'Let's forget it. We have a long way to go to the Empire. I could just hope the Princess knows till then who is to follow whom.'
