Chapter 18 - The Stuck Pants

Uncountable camera shutters went off as Daniel Kang came up on the stage. The man looked exceptionally dashing that even some of the female reporters couldn't help but swoon over him. Why were the handsome ones always gay, they cried inwardly.

And of course, they were all gathered here today for him to address the question of his sexuality after that scandal. While most of the female reports wished inwardly that it wasn't true, the male reporters wished otherwise. They needed more juicy content to publish and draw more attention to their station.

Of course, in reality, they were all jealous of Daniel. How could someone be handsome, rich, and intelligent? How could life be so unfair? Not to mention that some of their girlfriends were crushing on the popular CEO!

If only they knew that the real Daniel they were jealous of had died already and his body was being occupied by a monk from the past who hadn't had it easy either. While they wished to be in his shoes, the Monk as well wanted to live like them - free and poor.

In one word, it wasn't just a matter of creating content for their newspaper companies, their ego was on the line and they couldn't wait for Daniel to receive more backlash from the public! So like wolves in sheep's clothing, they were anxiously waiting for him to make more mistakes in this press conference; they wouldn't make it easy for him.

"Thank you all for attending," Daniel spoke into the mic with his deep, smooth voice, and the female reporters melted on the inside even though they kept a passive expression. They had to be professional for this job even if the temptation aka Daniel was too much. Aww, the man was almost perfect.

"I called this press gathering today to debunk the rumors making rounds across the internet that I'm gay and...." Daniel hesitated as if he was scared to say what he had in mind. He looked at Young Chul at the corner who nodded his head, prompting him to carry on.

Daniel took a deep breath and then looked straight at the crowd saying, "And to make an important announcement as well,"

At the mention of an "important announcement," the reporters were quick to take pictures of him while their partner's fingers flew across the keyboard, typing down every word the man said while the others videoed him.

"First of all, I'm not gay," He announced and the females released a sigh of relief while the names grunted from their spot.

One of the male reporters raised his hand to ask, "Then, how do you explain what happened that day? I had been one of the reporters opportuned enough to catch you in the act -"

"In the act of what?" Daniel cut him off quite rudely. He recognized that reporter, he was the first person to take the shot of him in the elevator with Young Chul before the others recovered from the shock.

"In the act of unzipping your secretary's pants," The reporter said firmly, "President Kang, you portray yourself as a righteous person, who knew you were such a libertine?"

He made a personal attack and for some reason, the smug expression on his face pissed Daniel off and he had this evil thought of removing the reporter from his job with his influence. Yeah, he could do that.

Righteous Buddha, where did that thought come from?! Daniel was taken aback. He couldn't use his position of power to oppress others. No, he can't get corrupted by the negative thoughts! He quickly pushed the idea out of his mind. To forgive was divine. Yes, he had to forgive the ignorant fool. Let love lead.

Daniel pushed down his anger and replied calmly, "I can assure you that it's a misunderstanding," And just like that, he went into details, narrating to the reporters what led to the scene.

Young Chul sighed and face slapped where he stood, the president didn't need to go into details. He was the CEO for christ's sake, and all he needed to do was to give them a clear, concise statement and leave them to ponder over the rest. But then, there stood their magnanimous President. Sigh, what was he going to do with this man?

A reporter raised his hand, "So you mean to tell us that you were only trying to help your secretary with his zipper?"

This time, Daniel didn't answer and simply gestured to the background. The screen suddenly lit up with video evidence of what happened in the elevator.

As if that wasn't enough, Daniel spoke into the mic, "And to assure you that I speak the truth, I made sure to properly secure the most vital evidence," He looked towards Young Chul who threw his hand up, yet walked across to him with a bag in hand.

He opened the bag and pulled out a pair of long pants which was exactly the same as the one Young Chul wore in the elevator that day with the zipper still stuck.

"I present to you, the stuck pants," Daniel gestured to it and there was an uproar in the hall as the reporters scrambled to get a view of the pants. They never saw that coming.

With his cheeks burning hot, Young Chul stood still as he held the pants properly so the reporters could get a nice shot of the stuck zipper. Had one ever told him that this particular pants would get famous like this, Young Chul would have never worn it. All that remained was the bidding to start so this could turn into an auction.

"I can assure you that the pants are not fake and you can compare it to the pictures of the ones you took that day," Daniel ended the press conference.

However, before he left, one of the reporters who wasn't swept up in the moment was quick to ask, "President, you said earlier that you have an important announcement to make? What is it?"

But Daniel answered, "It doesn't matter anymore," and left with many camera shutters going off and taking pictures of him.

He just solved his gay problem, why would he need to lie to the public. He couldn't deceive the public. He was a righteous man.
