Soo Ah's eyes flashed upon seeing that lipstick stain on her fiancé's collar - that was not her brand and her handwork. She glanced up at Woo Bin who was still smiling at her until he noticed the change in her demeanor and lifted a questioning brow.
The nerve!
Soo Ah bit the inside of her cheeks to keep her from bursting out. Of course, she knew Park Woo Bin constantly cheated on her, but he always seemed to have an excuse for everything and would come apologizing to her in the end with flowers and his honey words, plus his promise to never repeat that.
However, Woo Bin kept breaking those promises each time that she became used to it and finally came to the understanding that her fiancé was a chronic cheater. But then, Soo Ah had taken all of his bullshit because the truth is that she loved him even though he misbehaved all the time. Even when he constantly hurt her by cheating with other women and making her feel inferior and unloved.
Honestly, at one point, Soo Ah had become fed up with his constant promises that he would only break when the next woman came along and was determined to end their relationship, but her mother stopped her. According to her, it was in men's nature to cheat.
"How do you think I ended up with your father?" She boosted.
Soo Ah could not deny the truth in her words knowing that her mother was the second wife and that was only possible because the first wife divorced her father after finding out about his infidelity - and secret daughter.
"Moreover, the both of us know why you're marrying him anyway," Her mother chuckled brilliantly.
Yes, Soo Ah was marrying Woo Bin amid his flaws because he was from an influential family as well and she needed their relationship to secure her place as the heir to their father's company.
But then, today was their engagement ceremony, couldn't he have regarded the occasion as sacred and respected her for once? Must he bring shame to her? Moreover, how long would this go on? And just how much could she take before she reached her boiling point?
At once, Soo Ah stood up from the chair, breaking away from the hug, and then stood to her height and stared at him from up to down.
"There are reporters around so If I were you...." She began to say, her hands going to his shirt and began to work on his buttons, "I wouldn't open the shirt with that lipstick stain." Soo Ah hinted at him that she knew he was with a woman.
Woo Bin's eyes widened in shock, clearly, he hadn't wanted Soo Ah to find out about his rendezvous tonight and she was filled with disgust. How could she have fallen in love with somebody like this? How long would she survive this marriage?
Well, until she got what she wanted, Soo Ah wasn't leaving him.
Woo Bin scratched his scalp, laughing awkwardly when he caught his mother-in-law's harsh stare. She had noticed everything as well.
"I'm sorry -"
"Save it!" She hissed at him.
While most people had a hard time apologizing to those they wronged, it had become so easy for Woo Bin that the apology itself lost its value. No, she didn't want to hear that miserable apology knowing that he would only break it, if she dared to say, tonight when he gets home. If there's anyone he should feel sorry for, it should be himself.
"Don't you dare take it off," Soo Ah warned him after buttoning all the way up that he looked like a clergyman and he didn't dare to disobey her orders, knowing that he was at a disadvantage right now. His fiancée was mad at him and he was guilty as charged.
The tension in the room was saved when a knock came on the door and her mother's gaze connected with hers.
"That should be the reporter, the both of you should behave." Her mother warned them before walking over to the door.
Almost immediately, Woo Bin took her hand and looked at her with affection that one wouldn't doubt that they were a happy couple or so he wanted to portray.
Soo Ah looked at him with disdain, she had forgotten that her fiancé was so good at the game of pretense. If she couldn't see through him, she did not doubt that he would fool her to the end. The thought of that made shivers dance along her skin.
Soo Ah's line of thoughts was disrupted when the reporter cried out, "Oh, what a beautiful couple you both are."
At once, Soo Ah put on her mask as well. She had to prove to the world that the both of them were a happy couple - and fool her father as well. That man was quite annoying and if he found out that she had ulterior motives for this arrangement, he would stop their marriage.
Woo Bin teased the reporter who burst into laughter and Soo Ah couldn't help but check out the female reporter. She was older than her, probably in her mid-thirty or something. However, she couldn't help but wonder if her boyfriend goes for people of her age as well. How could her life get this pathetic?
They settled down on the seats and the reporter began with her session. The interview would be published in the magazine for the whole world to read - and envy them - the woman started by congratulating them on their engagement.
"I have to say it's rare to see a love like yours, " She said.
Yes, Soo Ah and Woo Bin had begun to date from high school. So they had known each other for a long time.
The interview went more smoothly than Soo Ah thought it would go and just when she finally relaxed, the reporter suddenly asked,
"Although I've been curious about one thing. Seven years, the both of you broke up and there had been rumors of a scandal then that involved your older sister, could you tell me what it was all about, and was it related to the reason the both of you broke up?"
At once, all color drained from Soo Ah's face.
