Chapter 4 - The Duo

"So, what is the matter? Do you live alone or something?" Hakki asked Akina.

Akina stammered over her words before she could fully answer the Kyoshi spirit's question. "Y-Yeah. Something like that. Me and my dad are not on good terms. For the lack of a much better word, anyway." She replied.

Akina tried to sleep and she asked Hakki to station by outside of the room, the spirit was hesitant at first but obliged as Akina was threatening him. "Alright, alright! Jeez."

"I would very much prefer for you to actually go somewhere else other than my home, it is weird to have you stand there while I sleep." Akina had plenty requests for the spirit. It was like she was the one in charge.

"There seems to be a problem with that, Akina. As you know, since we are basically entangled with one another, I physically cannot be that far away from you. We are bound together one way or another." Hakki explained.

Akina Sumeragi sighed. "Fine." She handed a book to Hakki for him to read. "You said spirits are not capable nor do they ever need to sleep, right?" She asked as she threw him a book that explains the intricacies of our society nowadays in the modern age. The prevalence of technology and how culture is being overrun by technology.

"This should be an interesting read for you, remember, if you ever come inside that door, I will introduce you to pain that you have never felt in your entire life before." She glared at him with her pupils sharp like daggers as she said that.

Hakki could not do anything but agree. The time went by as Akina slept while Hakki read through the entire book in one night. As soon as she woke up and opened the door, Hakki was there, smiling like a madman.

"T-That thing on your desk, it is a computer, right?" the Kyoshi spirit asked eagerly as Akina nodded. She made another account for her computer 'Hakki' she named it.

"I do not have classes today, so the thing we can do now is to have you explain the state of all the other Kyoshi spirits so far. That way, we can prepare even just for a bit without being overwhelmed." Akina pulled out her notes and a couple of binders. She knew that her excellence at university and in school was going to come in handy. What she lacked in physical strength, she was going to make up for in tactics and brains.

"You know, you should also practice shooting arrows from my bow…" Hakki whispered quietly. "Fine." Akina agreed.

"I am curious, aren't Kyoshi spirits supposed to be really strong and all that?" Akina asked to which Hakki nodded proudly. "So, how were you even chosen in the first place?" Her last sentence broke Hakki.

"Fool! Us Kyoshi spirits are given a seat in the ranks because of our power and paranormal capabilities! I am only in a weakened state because of my embarrassingly pathetic possession failure…"
