Chapter 7 - Chapter Seven

Mira stretched as her body began to slowly wake up. Snuggling back under the blanket she almost thought it was all a dream. Almost. Her hand brushed against the soft and smooth leaves. She let let put a large sigh, which followed up with a yawn. She didn't want to wake up here, she wanted to be back home in her bed. She suddenly found herself missing the snuggly she had made. She reluctantly sat up, and looked around the room. Alzie had made her her own separate bed in the empty corner of the hut. He didn't seem to be in the anywhere in the hut. She got up and headed to the table. Most g the fruit was still there, though some had been cleared away. She reached for the yellow star shaped fruit and placed it in an empty bowl with some of the purplish black berries. She would kill for some eggs and bacon about now. The morning breeze was a bit chilly in the shade of the trees. She walked around till she found a warm sunny spot to sit in.

The spot was on the bridge connecting Sklai's hut with Alzie's hut. She watched as the bussle of lizards moved around below. Her feet dangling off and bowl in lap. They seemed busy, like they're preparing for something. Some carried the cages with the light bugs inside, other carried wood. All of it was going down to the bottom of the forest. She was so wrapped up in watching them she hadn't noticed the female lizard behind her.

"Ewww, what a disgusting looking creature." The harsh female voice behind her startled her.

"Oh I'm sorry, am I in your way?"

She scrambled up and tried to moved away. This female looked a lot like Sklai but brighter. Her voice had a younger tone to it too. Her clothing was a bit more revealing too, decorated with colored feathers. Before the female lizard could say another word, Cyro jumped down behind her. She felt a sudden relief hit her that a familiar face was here. The female lizard seemed unphased.

"Oh, Cyro, have you seen Alzie?" She looked at him with the same disgust.

It actually made her feel a little angry so see her look at him that way. Of course she's also never seen Cyro look that way either. He usually came of distant and quiet. Now he stood over her, a look of anger on his face. It actually fit him quiet well. Unlike Alzie the green light from the leaves made him look like a beautiful forest green. And the yellow showed as a emerald green. It was more beautiful that Alzies. She wanted to touch it to see if it would dance with movement. Her question was answered when he stepped closer to the woman. It was like watching a bright river of green. She actually preferred rivers to seas. She fear the sea and is vast dark unknowns. She caught his glaze for just a second before he spoke to the female lizard.

"Alzie isn't here. He getting ready for the celebration." His voice had a hint of a growl as if he was warning her. "But you already knew that."

"I don't know what your talking about." She tried to saunter off, but he wouldn't let her by.

"Why did you really come here?" He lost the growl and smiled at her. "Did you come here to see me?"

"What! Never!" She shoved past Cyro and disappeared down the rope.

"You should never go outside on your own." He still refused to look at her for more than five seconds.

"I'm not alone," She figured he has been there the whole time hiding in the leaves. Makes since seeing as he could easily blend in with them. "How long have you been hiding up there?"

His eyes suddenly widened and he cleared his throat. She watched as he walked to her, the colors and light dancing on him like a master piece. He bent down to pick up her bowl and the berries that hadn't fallen off the bridge. Standing he handed her the bowl, and looked at her. This time he didn't look away. His eyes were also different. One orange like the rest, but the other was a golden color with orange flecks.

" Long enough to see feather head walked up on you." She took the bowl from him and smiled. Feather head was a good nickname for her.

"Sit with me, maybe you could tell me about this celebration everyone seems busy with."

She gestured to the spot next to her, and sat back down. He sat next to her and stole a berry from the bowl. He used his hide skirt to brush it of before eating it. She did the same and they just sat and talked. Apparently there was a celebration to welcome the new chief of the tribe. The new chief was Alzie. He told her he was also the only one with red, the color of the chiefs. He explained that each color represented a level of strength. The orange were just below the chief and the yellow were just below them. Typically the orange were the hunters and fighters. The yellows were the gathers and farmers. Fishing was taken care of by everyone. He also say that she could tell the males from the females because they were darker. Except for him, he didn't really fit the pattern like everyone else. He seemed to want to avoid talking about himself. It wasn't hard for her to catch on to the fact he was different and that others here didn't seem to like him much.

She herself knew the feeling all too well. She wasn't seen as pretty and was usually the butt of everyone's jokes. It didn't help that she was socially awkward, and misunderstood people a lot. She couldn't tell if someone was joking with her ninety percent of the time. Guys didn't ever ask her out, and girls definitely never asked her to hang out. She was too weird for everyone. She was thankful for it most of the time, like when she would have panick attacks. However, that also didn't mean she wanted to be lonely. She turned her attention back to Cyro just in time.

"So, tell me how it is a human like yourself survived this long." He casually played with a berry inbetween his claws.

"Honestly I have no clue what you mean." She smiled at him half laughing. "It sounds ridiculous but I just went to sleep one night, after work. And boom I woke up in the middle of a clear-." She was cut off with his big hand covering her mouth. He held one finger to his lips telling her to quiet.

"You can't tell anyone what you just told me." He leaned in and whispered. She could feel his breath on her neck. "Especially not Alzie." With that he quickly got up and looked over to the rope.

There she saw Alzie climbing up, another bucket of water in tow. He smiled and waved them over and he carried it inside the hut. There he instructed Cyro to pack some food. He asked her to fill up a few bota bags that he handed her. Apparently they were going on a trip after the celebration. To which he also told her it was best if she stood in the background with Cyro. Said she'd be "safer" that way. Usually when someone wanted to exclude her it ment they were embarrassed of her. 'So it's not going to be any different here', she thought to herself. Cyro looked at her sympathetically. Well at least she would have some company. She filled atleast six bota bags and laid them next to each other on the table. Cyro placed the pack of food next to it, and Alzie placed some hides next to it.

"Can you please tell me where we're going?" She crossed her arms, and gave him an annoyed look.

"We're going to visit the tangerine tribe." He didn't say more and just walked off.

"We can't take her there!" Cyro chased after him.

She didn't know who the tangerine tribe was, but from Cyros reaction they probably weren't very welcoming. She looked back at the table. They packed enough food and water for atleast three days. Was the tangerine far off from them to take that long to get too.
