Chapter 9 - Chapter Nine

Cyro shifted uneasily next to Mira. He was three last time there was a ceremony. It definitely had a different atmosphere than this one. When the feast began he dragged Mira by the hand to the tables. He didn't pay much attention to what she grabbed. He just wanted to get their food and get back to their hiding place. He managed to avoid most of the others, but caught Heili's eye. She sneared at him in warning. He caught her once already picking on Mira. He just glared and walked away, Mira in tow. They sat down behind Alzies chair and began eating. He was surprised to see how much Mira was eating. She was shoving hands full of food in her mouth. Fish and berries both. It wasn't long before she finished her plate. Getting a drink he caught her gaze and smiled. She was turning bright red, he liked it when she changed color like that. Felt it made her look cutie. Not that he didn't already think that. He ate his food in silence next to her.

The drink he got tasted a bit weird. That's when he realized they had grabbed the wrong drinks. Panick he looked to the side of him and saw Mira gone. He cursed under his breath as he searched for her. He didn't have to go far. She was at the tables shoveling down food. How big was a humans stomach? Laughing he grabbed her arm and pulled her back as she chugged another drink. She didn't resist at first but when the drums began she began pulled back. They wrestled for a moment before picking her up and tossing her over his shoulder.

"Come on!" She whined at him. "Their dancing why can't I!" He turned to see that the dancers had begun. This was a dance only ment for the chief. If she joined she would ruin the celebration.

"Because your drunk and its not time for dancing." He carried her further back past their original spot and set her down.

"You know your a big meany." She was so close to his face. "I bet your just shy and don't want to dance." She giggle and fell back, which seemed to make her giggle more.

He left out a sigh and finished off his drink. He was going to need one if he was going to handle her. He watched the dancers move about this way and that. Looking over a Mira every now and then. She had taken it apun herself to dance by herself. Her dancing was quiet different from theirs. She seemed to move in a more mating like way than anything. Swinging her hips this way and that. It was actually pretty hypnotizing as her hips moved with the beat. How she moved like she did, keeping on tempo, was a wonder to him. He looked back to find that the dancer had stopped. Now was the time for thise who wish to be possible mates to the chief to dance. Heili was up first, of course. He hated her more than any of them. She always made sure to remind him daily of how unwanted he was in the tribe. He looked around and spotted a few lookers. They must have been looking at Mira because they didn't notice him staring back.

After about five minutes of watching them watch her he had enough. He left his empty cup on the ground and scooped her up once more. If she caused a distraction the whole of the village would be angry not just Alzie.

"Hey I was busy dancing you know!" She honestly sounded a bit annoying when she whined like that.

"Yeah, well, your attracting attention." He carried her up the rope to his hut.

"You know your scales are rather pretty the way the light of the bonfire hits them." She giggled again.

He didn't say anything back, he didn't even know what to say. No one has ever said anything like that too him before. He thought himself rather displeasing to the eye. She hummed happily as he carried her up. It was a nice sweet sound. It relaxed him and put him at ease. He placed her down on the deck of his hut. she just stood there with her eyes closed humming happily. He couldn't leave her there cause she could easily fall over. Hesitantly, he grabbed her shoulders and turned her around. She walked forward with him nudging her as gently as possible. She was so small that he was afraid he'd hurt her. The tiny shoulders felt so fragile and soft he could have easily broken them in one squeeze. His hut was similar to Alzie, except smaller and no table.

"Haha, I guess if you see one you've seen them all." Her laugh startled him.

"Uh, yeah, I guess." He left go of her and started cleaning up.

"Oh! That's different! What is that!" Before he could stop her, she had dashed to his bed. She pulled the pink furry spider out from under his hide blankets. "My .... Stuffy?"

He didn't know what to say as panick gripped his heart. She held it up by one if the legs looking at it as if she found treasure. They sat in silence, neither one speaking, both staring at the pink spider. Then, as if she had been reset, she squealed and hugged the spider close to her. It was then he realized he hadn't been breathing. She seemed to have that affect on him a lot.

"I can't believe you found it!" She was giddy as ever.

"Yeah, um, here." He walked over to the bed and grabbed the cup of water next to it. "Drink this."

She sat up and took the cup. She was so close he could clearly smell the sweet peppermint smell. He closed his eyes and inhaled. The aroma was intoxicating with the alcohol in his system. Unable to control himself he rested his head against hers, eye still closed. They sat there for what felt like an eternity. He could feel her hand gently move across his scales up to his horns. Their horns were actually quiet sensitive. He let out a growl as she gently grabbed one. Without warning, she moved her head from his and pulled his head down. She was now touching his two front horns. Caressing them in her soft, delicate, warm hands. He grabbed her wrists as another growl came out and pulled himself free. He breath was heavy, and he couldn't focus his mind. First she called him pretty, now she was touching him willingly. She just sat there in front of him, her ears and face red. He really did like that look on her.

He pulled her closer, moving his hand down her arms. His head buried in her shoulder, taking in her scent again. When his hand reached her back, she tensed. She was once soft and a bit squishy, now he could feel the muscles hidden beneath her soft skin. He didn't move. Tensing was a sign of uncomfortablility. She slowly eased back down and he traced a claw down her back. He marveled at how he could feel every little movement her muscles and skin made. Though tiny were they. He was fully fascinated by it. He traced her spine back up her back. The shiver she responded with made the muscles twitch again. He just sat there playing with her back feeling ever movement. The warmth and softness was nothing like the rough scales he's known his whole life. He felt her wiggle a bit, moving her arms and hands. Then felt her place her hands around him like she was hugging him. She was hugging him. Feeling his scales as well. He wondered if she found them to feel rough, and unwelcoming, or if she found the smooth.

Alzie would not like this one bit, but he didn't care. He felt safe in her arms. Like resting against a soft cloud in the warm sun. Was it normal for someone's body to be this warm? He didn't want the embrace to end. He felt her body slowly relax and go limp. She had fallen asleep. She felt so light as he laud her back against the leaves. The paleness of her skin and black hair was a big contrast to the leaves. He wished he could save the moment. She looked so peaceful, like a beautiful statue. That is until she rolled over and started to snore. Now that was a noise he never expected to come from something so tiny. He quickly got up and went outside. He wondered how Alzie could sleep with her snoring.
