Chapter 11 - A Beating

"Ah, fuck! He didn't faint? What is he, made up of rocks or something?" Jacob squinted his eyes and clicked his tongue in annoyance as he watched the groaning Gerald getting up from the floor.

"Jacob! You little shit! You tried a sneak attack on me?" Gerald gritted his teeth and wiped the blood that was dripping from his mouth while clenching his fists. "Motherfucker! I'll kill you, you son of a bitch!"

"You want my help?" Mark asked Jacob, who, although seemingly nervous, shook his head. "Nah.." He then took a deep breath, narrowed his eyes and stared at Gerald. "I think I can take him."

Jacob's eyes were burning with excitement and anticipation. This was the moment that he would take revenge on one of his bullies, and he couldn't help but feel like the main character of an action movie.

"You sure?" Mark asked once again for confirmation.

".... Well.. uh, you know what…" Jacob turned around after a few seconds of silence, and with an awkward smile, replied, "Uh, just keep an eye on me. You know, just in case I fuck up or something.."

"Right, right…" Mark nodded his head as though he understood what Jacob was saying.

".... Just in case, alright? You don't have to interfere unless it's like, really bad, okay?" Jacob felt the need to reiterate his wishes once again, and Mark raised one of his eyebrows. "Yeah, yeah, I got it. Continue with the fight, dude."

"Right, yeah…" Jacob turned around once again and faced Gerald, who had blood dripping down from his lips and onto his chin. He had a furious expression on his face. "Sorry about that, dude. Had to have a little talk. Serious stuff." Jacob spoke with a nervous tone. "Anyway, uh, where were we?"

"I was about to beat your ass." Gerald replied as he cracked his knuckles, and the whole classroom suddenly became ice cold.

"Yeah, I don't think you read the right script, buddy!" Mark shouted out loudly, causing Gerald's attention to shift to him. The distraction gave Jacob an opening, which he was never planning on letting go.

Whoosh!

"After all.." As Mark continued his words, Jacob had already closed in on the distracted Gerald, and swung his fist at his abdomen with full force. "... bullies are never the main character!"

"Wha-" Gerald had noticed the attack too late, and as a result, he wasn't able to defend against it.

BAM!

The punch was so intense and powerful that it made Gerald cough and gasp loudly before slamming back onto the wall once again, sending his spit flying all over his desk.

"Ah, fuck!" Jacob took a step back as the spit had flown all the way towards him and landed on his shoes. "Ew! Gross! My $200 designer shoes!"

"He's still not down, man!" Mark decided to remind a frustrated and distracted Jacob about the situation, and he instantly turned his attention towards the fallen Gerald, who was attempting to get up from the floor.

"Motherfucker! How's he still able to move?" Jacob murmured under his breath before rushing straight for Gerald, kicking his leg from the side and flipping him in the air before he fell down with a loud noise.

DHAK!

"AH!" Gerald screamed loudly in pain, but before he could do anything else, Jacob grabbed his long hair from behind and pulled his head up.

"GAHHH! AHHH!" Ignoring the agonizing Gerald's screams, Jacob raised his fist up in the air before punching him right in his face.

BAM!

Gerald's upper body staggered for a few seconds, and then he collapsed vertically, completely unconscious as he hit the floor. Weak and helpless, like a Victorian lady fainting into a crinoline.

Silence reigned in the classroom. Occasional whispers could be heard, but they ended as soon as they began.

"Holy shit…" A soft whisper was heard from the classroom as Jacob got up to his feet and patted down his pants, which were covered in dirt.

He walked up to the calm and collected Mark, leaned close to him, and whispered, "Did you see that?! Holy shit! I was so fucking cool right now! Fuck, I should've made you take a video of that fight! AHH! Now I regret not asking you to do that! Fuck! I did think about it before the fight began, but then-"

"Dude…" Mark instantly covered his mouth with his hands, cutting off Jacob's sentence midway, and continued, "...Shut the fuck up. Okay?"

"Yeah, okay. I got you." Jacob nodded his head and gave Mark a thumbs up. "That sounded way too fangirly. I get that. Not doing that again."

"Good." Mark gave a soft slap on Jacob's face before his gaze shifted towards the unconscious Gerald on the ground, and he continued, "We should probably move on to the next one."

"Huh? The next one?" Jacob sounded surprised as he spoke. "What do you mean?"

Mark raised his eyebrows. "You did say that the entire senior softball squad is bullying you, right? This is just one dude."

"You're telling me that I have to beat up every single one of my bullies?" Jacob asked.

"Well, depending on the number of pussies on the senior squad, you might not have to fight every single one of them." Mark shrugged his shoulders in response to Jacob's question. "Some might just surrender after seeing you beat the crap out of their friends."

Mark then pushed the still surprised Jacob out of the classroom, and waved his hands at the students inside the room with a faint smile on his face. "Leave him there." He said as he pointed at the unconscious Gerald. "He's a big boy. I'm sure he doesn't need anyone's help in waking up."

None of the students responded, and Mark nodded his head with a satisfied expression before leaving the classroom.

"Oh, man.. oh, man…" The boy with the glasses was rushing through the hallway, nervously murmuring to himself as he ran. "I can't believe I'm late! Gerald's going to kill me!"

He could see the doorway to his classroom right in front of him, and the boy rushed into the room in an instant, screaming, "Gerald! I'm sorry I was late! Here's your packet of chips! Don't kill me!"

He had closed his eyes shut as he was expecting a hard slap from Gerald. But when the boy with the glasses opened his eyes, he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"What the fuck…." The boy whispered with fear and confusion in his voice, as he stared at the unconscious Gerald lying on the ground. He then turned to look at the rest of the students, who weren't even sparing a glance at the fallen Gerald, and his eyes widened even more.

'What on earth happened when I was gone?'
