Red sat on a branch in a tree looking at her next target. It's the alpha of a small pack who sells his pack members to other alphas for more land. He was sneaking into the woods to make a deal with another alpha from a nearby pack. Red quietly got down from the tree walking behind the man on the shadows.
The man looked back to see no one. Feeling paranoid he continued walking. His senses told him something wasn't right but he was determined to make this deal. Just then Red walked out of the shadows in front of him.
"I've heard of you." The man said. "The infamous Red."
"Then you know what I came her to do." Red said. The man laughed. Then all around them guards appeared.
"It'll be such a pity to mess up such a pretty face. I'll be the one covered in your blood." The man said. A slight smile appeared on Red's face.
"This is gonna be fun." She said to herself.
Artemis' P.O.V
"Red, we have a problem." I had just finished a mission when my friend/boss Jeremy walked up to me.
"What is it?" I questioned.
"Looks like there was a spy." He said.
A spy? Again? Jeez these people won't give me a break. Not that I mind but still.
"I'll go check it out. Where is this spy?."
"That's the thing. He got away. Looks like an inside job. Could be one of our own against us or maybe they disguised themselves." Jermey told me.
"Ok. I'll see into it. You can't take any checks. If it is one of our own we have to be careful with information. You better get me a good salary this week Jeremy or I'll have to get K.C to come down here again." I said with a smirk on my face.
Jermey grined. "I swear Arty . You think very little of me. And where did that kid know how to pinch like that? One time she pinched me and the wife thought it was a hickey."
I laughed. "How's Rose doing by the way?" I asked. Rose is Jeremy's wife. They have been married for five years now and is expecting their second child.
"Well for starters she's always pissed at me for not letting her come see you. You understand why I don't let her right? I mean this is a dangerous job and who knows when something might happen? I just don't want her to get hurt" Jeremy said sighing.
"I understand Jer but it seems like your wife loves me more than she loves you." I said as I quickly walked away from him laughing.
"Hey!" Jeremy shouted after me.
"K.C is coming over to stay with you guys next week.
I smiled as I sat down in my office. Oh I forgot to introduce myself. How rude of me. I'm Artemis Victorian. I'm 21(almost 22) I have a niece but she calls me mom cuz her mom died. I'm an assassin who goes by Red. People think I'm some lifeless weapon made by killing but I'm actually not.
I lost my parents when I was 18 and I'm a werewolf. I don't live in a pack so I'm technically a rogue. I used to live in a pack though. But they were wiped out 3 years ago by some strange group called themselves The Mysticis. I was the head warrior's daughter and K.C was almost 1 at the time.
Flashback
"Hey Katie. Whatcha got there?" I asked my sister Kaitlyn as I walked into her room.
"Your birthday present." She replied simply seeming to have a hard time with what she's wrapping.
"My birthday is next week. Am I getting an early birthday gift then on my birthday I get a bigger gift? You're the best Kate." I said hugging her.
"Now you stop right there." Kate said holding me at arms length. "This isn't an early birthday gift. I'm wrapping it up for mext week."
I pouted. "But-but-" I started.
"No buts. And you're turning 19 Art, not 5." Kate said.
"You're turning 19 Art, not 5." I mimicked. "So what? 5 would be a good age to be right now." I said playfully glaring at her. "Speaking of toddlers where's K.C?" I asked looking around for my favorite person in the world.
"Oh she's probably in the living room with Josh." Kate told me. Josh is Kate's mate and they are the cutest couple ever.
I walked into the living room to she Josh playing with K.C. I took K.C out of Josh hands.
"Shoo." I said fanning him away. "You're not needed anymore. Go try convincing Kate to get me an early birthday gift." I said nudging him towards her room.
"I could swear you gave birth to her Art. And I don't think I cam convince Kate to give you early presents. " Josh said as he walked away.
"Whatever." I said waving him off. I smiled as I picked up K.C so we could have our day of fun which was every Friday, Saturdays and Wednesdays. Kate always says she and Josh are gonna move away and leave her with me because I come at the break of dawn and take away K.C. At that time I only laughed. Little did I know it was about to come true but not like I expected. It was even worse.
After an hour of playing with K.C I heard a scream and a crash then Kate ran in the living room in a panic.
"What's happening?" I asked rocking K.C as she started to cry.
"We're being attacked." Kate said as she grapped a bag stuffing some food and a change of clothes in it.
"Take K.C and go to the safe room. I'm going out to fight." She said shoving the bag in my hands.
"Wait no! I'm going with you to fight too!" I said.
"We don't have time hurry and plz keep K.C safe. If anything happens you have to get out of here." She said hugging me then kissing K.C on the head before running off to join the fight.
I took K.C and turned in the direction of the safe room and ran there as fast as I could. When I reached the safe room I gave K.C to Sasha, one of the pack doctors.
"Keep her safe." I said to her.
"I will" she said.
I ran out of the safe room looking behind me to make sure I wasn't followed. I was almost out of the pack house when suddenly a window shattered to my left and someone in a black coat that covered their entire face appeared on the shattered glass.
'Witches?' I thought. 'We're being attacked by witches? But why? I thought witches mostly kept to themselves.'
I looked at the person to my left. One second they were by the broken window the next they were right in front of me with a silver dagger.
'Witches can't move that fast. Vampires maybe.' I thought. I couldn't tell because their scent was blocked. The unknown creature then went to stab me with the knife which I dodged.
Then the creature tackled me to the ground and once again tired to stab me. But I wasn't gonna die just like that. I haven't even turned 19 yet! I remembered all my training dad had taught me then used them to my advantage.
Then after a long while of getting hit and thrown around I finally had the creature pinned to the ground in a choke hold. Then it just disappeared leaving black smoke in it's place. "Huh?!? What the hell?" Then I felt it. The pain of losing my family. I fell to the ground in pain. I ran to the battle field to see bodies scattered around and not bodies of the enemy either.
I spotted the alpha surrounded by four of the creatures. He made eye contact with me telling me to run with his eyes. I backed up into the pack house and went to the safe room only to see the door ripped off its hinges and dead bodies laying on the floor. Only one woman was there and she was cornered by one of the creatures. I panickly looked around for K.C and almost sighed in relief when I saw here sleeping in a corner under a bench with a blanket on top.
The woman, Lola was her name, didn't notice me. Neither did the creature that cornered her. I silently ran up to the creature from behind intending to claw his head off. But it was too late. As he turned around it held Lola's heart in his hand. I lunged at him only for it to dissapear leaving a trail of black smoke.
Grabbing K.C in my mouth I ran as fast as I could. I ran outside and saw my alpha on the ground with his head hung low. It happened so fast I couldn't even process what had happened but next thing I know my alpha's head was laying on the ground, his lifeless eyes staring up at the sky. I ran and ran not stopping even after I passed the border. I just continued running. I don't know how long I was running for but I only had one thought in mind.
To keep K.C safe at all cost.
