The fight hadn't reached halfway. But the cheer had already reached its peak. A black cloud of smoke had been created as a result of Rebekah's fireball attack. And We could barely see a thing.
"Impressive," Celeste commented on the scenery. "I didn't know that a girl like her could hold her ground against a warlock. Warlock abilities surpass new human abilities at all levels,"
"Aren't warlocks supposed to be…you know, men?"
"That's what you primitive humans think, but you are wrong. Warlocks are human-demon cross reeds who hold unimaginable magical power. They are usually in New York. Beatrix is the first I have found that stays in the new human world," she paused like she was trying to choose her world carefully, "Maybe that's why she seems weak,"
I stared at the holographic display without saying anything.
The smoke cleared, and it seemed like Beatrix was able to shield herself from Rebekah's attack. She had created a magic-enforced shield around her and that was enough to protect her from the fireballs.
She looked annoyed.
She then waved her hands and cast a magic circle above herself. The circle expanded and the weather above us shifted into something less welcoming. The nimbus clouds grew from nowhere and it was suddenly dark. Lightning was now violently flickering in the sky but there was no sign of rain.
Beatrix then hissed out some words quietly. I couldn't read lips but I knew it wasn't something good.
The sky then immediately roared and all the lightning that was flickering within the clouds started to collect itself. It looked like lines of electricity merging and collecting themselves to form something.
We all looked up until the last lighting bolt joined and we finally got to see what it was. It was an eel or a snake made of nothing but lightning bolts. That was magic manipulation, she was performing advanced magic.
"Now die," Beatrix snarled at Rebekah. There was a cold gaze in her eyes before she released the attack. The eel thing dived down with its mouth open right above Rebekah. It was going to swallow her whole.
Rebekah looked at ease though,
BOOM**
The eel crashed to the ground and a huge force similar to a blast of wind spread through the entire Arena. The force had acted like an EMP because after spreading through us. The spectators, All our devices glitched and some even went off instantly.
But our screen stayed on and glitched for a second or two before getting back online.
We all thought no one could survive such an attack. But we were all shocked when we saw Rebekah Andrews still standing with her double swords. Her eyes were gleaming gold because of the flaming swords.
Impossible, that was an advanced spell. How could she? I was shocked, impressed, and very confused. Maybe we won't lose after all.
Rebekah did the unexpected and dropped the swords. She then charged for Beatrix and when she noticed, Rebekah had already started smacking her in the face using her burning fists. Each punch was followed by a thunder-like sound. Rebekah then increased the speed of her punches until Beatrix fell unconscious and her body tumbled to the ground. Leaving Rebekah standing and glancing at her from up.
The entire arena was silent maybe from the shocking fact that Beatrix had been defeated. I can't blame them, Rebekah didn't give off the 'I am very powerful' vibe at all.
And the winner of the first match is group B," Mr. Klaus announced and the whole crowd was snapped back to its senses. They once again cheered over Rebekah's surprising victory.
The display stopped.
"Yes!" Kowalski celebrated. "Now you see why you should never doubt my choices. Because my choices are the winners,"
I chose not to say anything back. I turned and asked Celeste, "Do you still think humans are weak?"
She sneered and said, "Anyone could have pulled that off, and who attacks a fire magic user with lightning. I am impressed and surprised that a human-like her was able to reach such peaks of fire magic and her physical strength is way off the charts at this point I feel like she can handle a fight against a vampire."
I was surprised and intrigued by the fact that Celeste was positively commenting on Rebekah's moves, a human moreover one she's not on good terms with.
"The next match begins in twenty minutes," Klaus announced.
I was starting to gain some confidence. That was a surprising turn of events, but we still had four more battles to go if we are to win this. The team with the most wins qualifies to represent the school in the annual mage tournaments that were just now weeks ahead.
The door creaked as it was opened. "I won guys," Rebekah screamed the moment she walked in.
Everyone cheered for her but her eyes were suddenly fixed on me. She had a radiant smile on her beautiful face that me feel wired in my stomach.
Celeste tapped me with her elbow. "What the hell are you thinking staring at her as if you want her to…"
"Don't you dare say that,"
I knew she was going to say something stupid if I hadn't stopped her. She had the idea of me being a pervert ever since we woke up naked in the same bed and I was going to check her out. For that, I am guilty as charged but it was from curiosity nothing more. It's now like every day you get a chance to be in the same bed with a hot vampire princess.
"She's too good for you and I am starting to think she has a multi-personality disorder," she said flatly while staring at Rebekah. I could feel the tension grow from her as if it was a wildfire.
I sighed softly. Our bracelets suddenly chimed and the next match was automatically displayed.
And well, it was Tessa against Terry Andrews. I didn't see that coming. All the anxiety returned once more, we were so screwed.
Tessa snickered out of the blue which was creepy by the way. She then faced us and I had never seen someone so calm like this.
"Don't worry I was able to study my opponents' weaknesses and I am rather very prepared for this fight," she said,
We all said nothing apart from Kowalski who told her that he knows she can do it. But how could he, he didn't know if she was even powerful enough for the tournaments. Tessa marched to the exit and left the room.
.
.
.
She appeared in the arena, holding a bow in her hands with a quiver of arrows strapped on her back. They looked very normal with nothing magical about them.
The school was cheering for her, so maybe they knew what she could do with those arrows.
From the opposite end, Terry appeared with no weapon in his hands, and judging by the proud look on his face, he intended to keep it that way. Just his presence was enough to silence the entire school. He must have been overpowered if that's the reaction people gave him.
He was smartly dressed in his uniform and Tessa was the exact opposite of that. She had messy hair and no tie for her shirt. And her skirt was dirty. She looked like a mad scientist.
But she didn't bother to care. Her eyes were fixed on Terry.
"Begin"
The moment that was said, Terry cast a magic circle that shot out a blast of red hot flames.
Tessa was able to cast a wall of ice just in time before the flames could collide with her. The effect of ice and fire colliding was so great that I could feel the ground rattle under my feet.
Tessa expelled the ice then her body split up into three other versions of herself. To put it easier, she had photocopied herself. All the three copies then encircled Terry and each generated a blue-colored energy ball in one hand.
I leaned closer to the screen with my eyes full of excitement to see what Tessa was planning.
"Tessa has charged her spell up to sixty percent," Rebekah said staring at the screen, "Wow," she continued,
Celeste chuckled and scoffed, "She's using sixty-seven percent," her eyes were also fixed on the screen.
The three copies had surrounded Terry and they were all ready to fire and were waiting for their leader's order.
Terry saw that as an opportunity, so he quickly generated a magic circle under his feet and he stomped his foot on it. A white wave of light spread out but it limited itself to only staying on the battlegrounds.
My stomach tightened…
The ground below both Tessa and Terry split open and three rock monsters formed from the ground. Terry had summoned golems. They were earth-made monsters that could only be summoned by top A rank and S rank magic users. That meant that Terry was an A or S-ranked magic-user.
Oh, and usually this kind of magic is very prohibited.
The three monsters attacked Tessa's clones. One for each. As for the original Tessa, she started shooting arrows at Terry. But he was blocking each one using his magic.
There was no way she could win this Terry was far more superior when it comes to power. The fight had just started but we could already see the victor of this match.
He then raised his hands and started collecting energy from the air till it was a ball of energy flickering with white sparks of lighting.
In a blink of an eye, an arrow was fired straight into the ball of energy which wasn't a good idea because it went off like a miniature nuclear boom.
It exploded.
But Tessa's copies cast magic circles that absorbed the entire explosion before it could even spread.
What had just happened? How? All the energy I had felt had disappeared from the air as if it had never existed in the first place. I was confused.
The entire Arena was quiet. Tessa was still standing for one moment even after expelling her clone spell. Then she fell unconscious and her body was caught by Terry before she could fall.
"And the winner is…Terry Andrews,"
Everyone cheered like they had forgotten what had just happened.
Well everyone apart from us who had just lost, "It can't be…" Celeste suddenly muttered. At first, I thought she was talking about our sudden loss. But when I turned, her eyes were wide as she stared at Tessa. She looked at her with dread. "Telpa umpa tasura," she growled in vampire's tongue, I don't know how I knew that. But I was able to translate it as "The child of iron."
I asked, "what do you mean child of iron?"
Celeste faced me and winced, "I need to go to the ladies' room," she said then stormed out of the waiting room we were in.
I was left to wonder what had just happened and what did she mean by 'child of iron'
