Chereads / Cursed: Into the darkeness / Chapter 37 - First date, more problems

Chapter 37 - First date, more problems

It was already dawn and it only meant one thing. It was time for my date with Rebekah. This was going to be my very first date in a lifetime and by lifetime, I mean sixteen years.

I have had crushes in the past and I have dared to ask out a girl. I just never used to stick the landing when it came to asking a girl out. It was always a no. Maybe it was my don't care attitude that drove them away or my nerd ways.

The closest I've been was with a classmate called Erica. She was a nerd, brilliant, beautiful, and perfect in any way, one might call her my soulmate. But things changed so suddenly when I performed that spell. I ruined my good and straight reputation that day.

Then came transferring to a new school and my life couldn't be any better….

Am going out with Rebekah Andrews. The hottest girl from my class, this was so going to make everyone respect me for once.

I may have hours to live, but I still have to enjoy the good times as they last. Though I was going to keep Atreigon close by just in case anything happens.

The mage tournaments were on hold because the borders were currently closed for security reasons I don't wish to know about. But the main talk was still about the death of the head minister.

Celeste and the rest were using this as an advantage to search for a possible culprit and finding him could be finding the demon lord. I was still puzzled about what the demon lord offered new humans for them to turn on his side. Was it money? Immortality? Maybe more power?

Sigh, all this thinking will kill me one day.

I reached for the wardrobe and pulled out my best shirt. It was a short-sleeved blue checked t-shirt which I saved for only special occasions. Special occasions like going on a date with Rebekah Andrews.

I looked through my trouser category and picked out my cleanest, I always forget to wash those.

I dressed up and tidied myself to the best I could. I also got my best pair of sneakers just for the occasion. You call that weird I call that need for perfection.

I finally looked through the mirror, I was smart. I hope she thinks the same.

And I was out.

I was the first at the cheesy burger and I was already getting nervous because it had been fifteen whole minutes past the time she had mentioned in her message.

Each time a person walked in, I was forced to look hoping it was her. Was I stood up? Was this too good to be true?

"Why don't you stop being so nervous and pessimistic, because you are making me nervous and pessimistic," Atreigon cried. He was on my shoulder and he was currently invisible.

"Shut up, people are going to think am crazy, because am talking to myself."

"I was quiet for a while but you just can't stop being anxious. As your familiar have you forgotten we share senses and not to mention your powers as a supernatural are linked…" he argued,

"Pshh…calm down, Okay. I get it,"

The restaurant door opened and the person I was waiting for walked in.

It was Rebekah, smartly dressed in a jaw-dropping short pink dress. She was stunning. My face turned from just looking at her.

She waved after she saw me. The smile on her face was so radiant, that I couldn't stop looking at it.

She then walked to our table and settled down casually.

"Hi…" she said, trying her best not to sound shy.

"Hey, you look great," I commented,

"So do you," she added.

The glare in her eyes was so mesmerizing, that I found it hard to avoid those round brown eyes.

"Did you order anything?" she asked,

I wasn't focused, so I couldn't translate things properly.

"No, I haven't…" I muttered,

"Good, cause I need you to hear me out," her face suddenly hardened.

"I know who killed the minister. I saw him die through the red diamond, he was killed by the demon lord," she said quietly, ]

"How?" I was confused, I thought this was a date but, oh well.

"I don't know," she said, "but I have been having visions. Each time the demon lord uses the diamond. I think it's calling me, I have tried to avoid it but it keeps on getting worse. It's like I have this…"

"Connection," I concluded. It made sense for her to have visions about the red diamond, her kind created the instrument in the first place. She had to have a connection one way or another.

"Any idea on where the fight took place?" I asked,

"In a forest, next to a lake or a water body I am not sure. But the demon lord starting to gain full control over the diamond," she was worried,

If the demon lord gains full control over the diamond it won't be hard for him to simply teleport from this world to the dark dimension. He wouldn't need some gateway like us.

"This is bad," Atreigon added, he was also listening to the conversation.

"Have you told anyone about this?" I asked,

"No…"

I suddenly felt a tingle in my senses when someone walked into the restaurant. She was in a dark red cloak with a hoodie covering her head.

I stared at the woman. I could sense that she wasn't normal.

Rebekah glimpsed over her shoulder to see what I was looking at and noticed the woman, "Who still wears cloaks these days?" she laughed,

"We need to go," I said to Rebekah, standing up and grabbing her arm. I pulled her up and we both head our way out.

We had just passed the woman when she grabbed my arm and hissed, "I am here for the girl, get in my way and you face a fate far worse than death."

I was terrified.

She let go and then continued to a table.

I took Rebekah outside,

"Who was that?" she asked seeing the terror in my eyes.

"That is one of the demon lord's assassins. She's called the red witch and she's here to kill you," I dropped the bomb,

Rebekah didn't look surprised by the gesture. She pulled my arm and we both matched to her car, which was parked in front of the restaurant.

It was a white brand new BMW probably a gift from her father.

She quickly pressed the key and unlocked the car. She took the driver's seat and I took the co-drivers.

She produced a small bottle of whiskey that she finished in one drink.

She then started the engine and quickly turned the wheel. I wasn't sure I knew what was going on.

"What are we doing?" I asked,

"I know the witch is after me, she's been following me all day. If only I knew she was the one. And by the way, she doesn't kill in crowded places because she's a human. The curse won't work on her," she explained keeping her eyes on the road, she pressed on the pedal and the car picked up speed.

We then heard a loud thud coming from the top. She was here. Rebekah tried to shake her off by driving the car left and right with the hope of throwing her off, but she instead jumped off and landed right in front of us on the road.

"Don't mind if I do," Rebekah intended to run her over. Was she crazy?

She then pressed the pedal harder on the medal and the car even moved faster.

Something bad was about to happen I could feel it. Atreigon shifted me into an elf. I grabbed Rebekah.

She was surprised and then-

BOOM**A lightning bolt fell from the sky and hit the car. Rebekah lost control over the wheel, and the car toppled off the road and rolled itself.

I focused long enough and we were are able to teleport out of the car before it continued rolling down into a forest.

I felt sick after doing that. We were still close to the road and on the other side of the shoulder was the witch. She was in a red prom dress holding a pair of connected chains each with a blade on the tip.

Rebekah formed a flaming sword as she prepared to fight for her life. I also summoned the Atreigon sword.

'" I only want the girl dead. Boy," she reminded me,

"I know, but I can't let you kill my date," I stepped forward,

'Flaming swordsman,' I thought and the sword started burning.

She sneered," Am not scared," she said.

"Am counting on it,"

She was the first to attack by releasing her chains at me. It was like they had a mind of their own. I made a wall of fire after realizing that I couldn't counter it.

I did see her coming, but I felt a force hit me so hard in the gut. Blood sprouted from my mouth before flying a few meters behind before crashing to the ground.

"Ralph," Rebekah screamed after seeing me getting hurt so badly with one hit.

I had to get back up and fight.
