Chereads / Cursed: Into the darkeness / Chapter 14 - I hate Kowalski

Chapter 14 - I hate Kowalski

I don't know what to say, but I also don't know why the hell these midterms are so hard.

I walked out of the exam room, scratching my head like a crazy person, my eyes swimming with all the spell names I had written wrongly. I was just from my Dark arts theory paper and I was totally confused. It made me question whether I was reading or looking at a book with pictures, definitely the second one. Because everything that I was looking at was new to me. Or they taught it the day I chose to dodge schools, you know teachers can be harsh sometimes.

"Ralpiee!" someone called and I felt like running because I knew that voice, high pitched annoying like grumpy an old man. How can I forget the voice of the one guy that has managed to make my school life a living hell from kindergarten, Mitch Kowalski, my part-time all-time bully.

My god, I hated him. He was the one person I wish I could destroy or send off this earth where creatures like him can coexist.

He was a fat kid. With red curly hair and orange spots around his cheeks. I have known him my entire life because he always followed me my entire life, we started as classmates when we first met back in kindergarten and he would steal my lunch every day and I would head back home starving. When evolution happened I was surprised to see that he also acquired magic like everyone else, I always thought he was too dumb to even be called a human.

I had just found out that he had been transferred to Mayfair high just a week ago. And he was looking for me. I have been hiding for the past few days and I guess my days are done because when I glanced over my shoulder, he was there standing with also two more idiots from kindergarten, I didn't even know they were in this school until now.

But the entire dumb squad was now complete. One was called Oscar, he was a tall black boy, with an Afro kind of haircut that always had a comb popping from the upper left corner of his head. The other was Charlie Kowalski, Mitch's cousin, they were about the same size you could mistake them for twins if met them for the first time.

I forced a smile then turned, "Hey, Mitch, what's up," I said while waving because I wanted him to notice me. He can get cranky if he ain't noticed and cause a scene.

"Ralpiee!" he sounded like he has just seen me for the first time. He was a small distance from me, but I just hated the name Ralpiee, made me sound like am some puppy.

He walked up to me with his two goons, on both his sides like two unqualified bodyguards.

"I didn't know you transferred here,"

You knew I was dumbass we were literally in the same school before, I thought

"Seems you were getting too comfortable, little Ralpiee," he poked my chest three times, then laughed. Maybe he thought he had said something very funny.

I sighed, "I'm sorry I don't have time for this-"

I wanted to use my powers so bad, but the entire school had cameras installed, and let's not forget about the bracelet.

Mitch paused after I said that, then laughed even louder this time with his goons. "I guess little Ralpiee has grown a few wings. Well, let's pluck some off," he said, then grabbed me by the collar and swung me into the lockers that were next to us.

Once my back hit the lockers I automatically started regretting what I had just said. Of course, Mitch was stronger than me physically, that is why I would let him bully me. Because combat magic was highly prohibited on school grounds.

He bent down and looked at me, "You should no your place Ralpiee," he said then punched me in the face and I hit the back of my head even harder into the locker I was leaning against.

I felt like hitting him back, and suddenly a locker ripped itself from the wall and whacked Mitch in the face and he was sent flying into a wall.

My mouth dropped, did I just do that?

His goons ran to his rescue, and they helped him back up. Mitch had a bleeding nose.

"Are you okay--' I heard Oscar ask while pulling him up,

"Am fine!" he said angrily then glared at me," and growled, "What did you--"

"What the hell is going on here?"Miss Eloise appeared, she was furious because the steam from her knows had blurred her lens.

I was relieved at the same time scared after seeing Miss Eloise for the first time in a week and scared because she was pissed.

"Midterms are going on and instead of going home to study you want to fight?" she argued looking at the both of us.

"Mitch and group, to my office. Now," she commanded and pointed in the direction of her office.

Mitch stared at me, and it meant 'I will kill you another time'

Miss Eloise helped me up, and the look she had on her face was alarming. She was pale like she had just seen a ghost.

"Miss…are you okay?" I dared to ask. But she managed to extinguish the frightful look and she was back to normal.

"You should go get some rest, Ralph. You have midterms going on and I don't want you to fail," she said without answering my question.  Maybe she had her reasons.

At night that day. I spent half of it reading and the rest of it researching the red diamond the girl had. The girl's name is Rebekah Andrews and she was a total socialite from Mayfair we found her in Pretoria because she skips school to party from there.

Everything I had discovered about the diamond sounded like fiction from a board game, the rock was connected to the dark dimension and could only be used by a banshee to open a gateway to the dark dimension, I also read that the rock gives the user unbelievable magical powers am talking god-like powers. The diamond was also a compass for magical items.

Why this kind of information is on the internet? I don't know. But it was there.

Atreigon also appeared, another surprise of the day. Because the bird had been gone for a week after I asked him to look for a way to get to the magical world.

"I found a way," he said,

A mischievous  smile grew on my face as I turned to face my familiar and I said, "Tell me."
