I walked carefully to check who it was behind the pillar, and when I turned to see, it was a girl bleeding out from the neck while crying. Her hands were covered in blood and she looked like she had been bleeding for a long time. She was in a uniform, meaning she was just a kid.
"Celeste!" I called.
And then quickly grabbed a handkerchief and tried to put pressure on the wound, I had seen people do this in movies so I hope it works.
Celeste appeared and her eyes automatically went wide after seeing human blood,
"Move away," she said then pulled me away, rushed to cut her palm, and offered the wounded girl to drink her blood.
"-I don't want to become a monster-" the girl cried.
"I won't let you become one, okay. Now drink my blood if you still want to live," she ordered then covered the girl's mouth with her bleeding palm. The girl started sucking blood from her palm and the wound she had on her neck healed instantly.
She then yanked Celeste's palm from her mouth and then gasped while facing up like she was choking on air or having a seizure. I was going to help but Celeste stopped me by blocking me with her palm.
"Is she going to turn into a vampire?" I asked randomly,
"I don't know it has been years ever since I saw a newborn," she said staring at the girl, "but most probably yes because she has just taken in the blood of a progenitor."
The seizure stopped, then she put her hands over her head like a mad person and screamed out a force that I blocked using magic and neutralized before it could destroy the building, she then passed out instantly after that.
We both glanced at each other and it was clear that Celeste didn't want to touch the girl because of the human blood and trust me I have watched enough vampire movies to know what happens if I let her get very close to the girl.
I walked and carried the girl into my arms. She also had a bracelet around her wrist and it was clear she was a new human, she had long brown hair that smelled like hair products. Her skin was Caucasian and her face was so beautiful, she resembled one of those celebrities I would always see on talk shows back at home. Her uniform was a short cheeked green and black skirt and a long-sleeved white shirt with a green striped tie.
A man's voice suddenly called from just outside the warehouse. We may have attracted some unwanted attention. "Hello! Is anyone there?" he asked as his footsteps started getting louder as he approached closer.
Celeste didn't want to but she appeared right next to me and the girl, grabbed my arm and we both disappeared. And appeared in my room.
I quickly placed the girl on my bed, she was getting a bit heavy. And reached for the first aid kit under my bed, I opened it and pulled out some water, and used it to clean the blood that had gotten on both my hands and shirt.
--the girl opened her eyes with a start and the first people she saw were me and Celeste--
She was so surprised to see us like her mind was trying to forget what had happened but she was resisting. She stalled for a while before moving off my bed and glancing at me mainly like she didn't notice Celeste.
"Who… are the hell you?" she sounded very scared when she saw the blood on her. "What have you done with Veronica?" she screamed and made my room rumble from her power.
"Wow, wow, relax," I gestured by putting both my hands forward to show that I meant no harm. "I am the guy who has just saved your life, Okay, my name is Ralph Tally," I said while moving slowly towards her in hope that she stays calm.
Celeste was just watching, from the other end of the room.
"I am just an ordinary guy who just happened to find you bleeding from the neck in a warehouse," I continued.
"You could have taken me to a hospital," she muttered out magical words and made fire appear in both her hands. "Are you one of those things that attacked us." her tone was now completely different she sounded too determined to fight for her life. With her brown eyes gazing at me.
"What things?"
The girl's eyes shimmered with tears, and it was obvious she was traumatized, her hands were shaking from just me asking that question. She canceled her spell and then fell on her floor to cry.
Celeste moved out of hiding, "Tell me about what attacked you," she said.
The girl stopped crying after hearing Celeste's voice and slowly looked up, "You…are…. the progenitor," she stammered after glancing at Celeste's bright red eyes.
"Yes, I am and I need to know why Veronica drank your blood, and why you remember everything," Celeste said. That's when I remembered that there is a curse that protects mystical creatures from humans. A curse that makes you instantly forget anything that you've seen that is supernatural related. This girl could remember.
"We met a few days back at a party, where she told me that she was a vampire and that there is some supernatural hidden world under the ground," she chuckled. "I believed her because I had drunk too much that night. She told me about the vampire progenitor and how much she wants to become one, she said something about the Ho-"
"Don't say it, names have power," Celeste warned, or was she keeping me away from knowing the truth.
What was she about to say, I thought, nothing I can think of.
"She said that they will give her the power of a vampire progenitor and that she needed blood to access them. I was willing to help her steal from a blood bank. Before we were attacked by….by ghosts,"
"Ghosts?" I was confused,
"Reapers," Celeste corrected her,
"They wanted me.." she continued, "so Veronica hid me in that warehouse and then sucked my blood before she gave me this." she produced a silver bracelet with a red diamond in the middle.
I started feeling feverish as if I had suddenly gotten sick.
Celeste stepped back. She was shivering and her teeth were chattering.
This is worse than I thought, she said
I grabbed her arm for the first and asked, "What is?"
She looked at me, then frowned, "I have failed my world." she said. And those were her last words before she teleported away with the girl.
--the feverish feeling stopped instantly--but I remained puzzled., What was that diamond that was enough to scare the vampire queen herself?
I couldn't be left in suspense like this, and where has Celeste taken the girl? My mind felt like it was about to explode with questions. Was this the different thing life had waiting for me?
I summoned Atreigon and he appeared on my bed, still in a cat form.
I said, "Atreigon,"
"Yes master," I answered,
"I need you to find me a way of getting into the magical world,"
"Master, what of your Midterms?" weird as it sounds, the cat was concerned. And he was right, I couldn't go now because I had midterms, and what if I encounter a Progenitor. I wasn't strong enough.
I grunted while trying to think. "Fine, I will do midterms first. Then go to the magic place later," I told Atreigon.
The cat then nodded, "Marvelous master." he said, and then disappeared hopefully to go find me away to the magical world, I knew it wasn't easy getting there because if it is underground how come no one has ever mined deep enough to even find an artifact?
--my phone suddenly vibrated for the first time today, was it a message?
I switched it on and it was a government warning reporting that someone's body had been found dead in a warehouse located in Pretoria, the images showed that some had burned him alive.
But that's where I was, I thought zooming in on the images of the warehouse and it was the exact place we had been an hour ago. Someone must have been on our tail. Another reason I have to go.
Celeste and the girl appeared in what looked like an ancient times dungeon, with wet bricks and metallic doors, though they were standing in a corridor in-between a long line of dungeons
"What just happened?" the girl asked while panicking, "Where are we?"
"My castle," Celeste answered then she faced the girl and asked, "What is your name?"
"Rebekah Andrews," the girl answered anxiously,
Celeste moved left and right muttering out curse words as she scratched her head, "I knew when I heard that scream, it sounded familiar," she said.
"What sounded familiar? What are we doing here?"
"Do you know why the reapers came for you, Rebekah? its because--"
"She's a banshee," a boy materialized right behind Celeste, and she froze in shock after recognizing the voice. She felt his hand clamp on her shoulder and she turned to face him.
A boy, slightly taller than her with similar white hair, a pale face, and a pair of fangs showing as he smiled.
"Hello little sis, do mind introducing me to your guest?" he smirked with his red eyes fixed on Rebekah like some trophy.
