Chereads / Cursed: Into the darkeness / Chapter 7 - I am a progenitor

Chapter 7 - I am a progenitor

Before you meet my mom and dad you should know what they look like. my mom's name is Christine Tally, she is a young-looking, thirty-year-old woman with white hair and blue eyes. She was one of the first people in the world to discover they had abilities and she had been ranked as an S-type magic user because of her excessive magical powers.

My father is Adrian Tally, I never knew much about him because even before magic was brought into this world, he was still up and down so he was rarely around. No one mentioned how powerful he is because he requested the government to keep his power rank a secret. So I believe that it's intensely high for a human man.

We both entered the house and she shut the door behind us, she instructed me to go and sit in the living room as we waited for my father. I did as told and remained glaring at her without saying a word.

I had never seen her like this in all my life, she was nervous and anxious at the same. She bit her nails while she moved from side to side as she slowly uttered words in a language I couldn't understand.

The front door then opened and my father was the one who came through, mom didn't hesitate to run to him and hug him. You could tell she was terrified, dad on the other hand was calm like before. He was so emotionless and his face depicted nothing more than cold. They exchanged a few words in a language I couldn't understand.

Once they finished, she moved out of his arms then they both turned to me. My father and mother looked furious and I wasn't ready to hear what they were going to say to me.

He walked up to me and placed his strong hand on my shoulder.

"Am sorry we didn't tell you the truth," he said kindly, which of course surprised me because I had no idea of what he was talking about. But judging by the apologetic look in his eyes he expected me to have an idea of what he was talking about.

I didn't know what to say, so I said, "It's okay dad,"

He sighed, "No it's not, you were attacked by a minotaur last week and I asked your mother to lie about it," he said.

I turned to my mom and a frown of guilt grew on her face as she faced the floor.

"Son, when did this all start?" he asked pointing at my ears. I had failed to shift back to a human.

"We have to get him a familiar," my mom suggested, and that's when I noticed that they weren't surprised by what was happening.

That's when I bothered to ask, "What is going on?"

My father sighed, "The curse that fey progenitor inflicted on you activated the blood of your ancestors,"

"My ancestors?"

"Yes, a long time ago there was a race who didn't declare themselves as Fey kind, they were, mighty, smart and stronger than fey because of the knowledge and power that they possessed, this race was called the elf kind, my ancestors," he said. " because of what we had, other fey and most supernaturals despised us, so they removed our kind from the progenitors' council and opened a war on us, they killed our children, hang our kings and queens and the survivors, well they a found a way to the human world by a making a blood pact with a demon lord that sealed our bloodline from this world, but not our power," he squeezed his hand into a fist, "we remained elves but our offspring were human,  that's what they meant by sealing our bloodline. It continued for centuries until recent when magic was discovered once more and returned our magic."

"That's when I and your mother discovered that we are both descendants of the elves,"

"That's why you are both very powerful," I said while trying to break this all down, honestly this would have sent me into a panic attack but after all that has happened recently I wasn't so surprised.

"Exactly," he answered.

"But how am I involved in all this?"

"The pact our ancestors made with the demon lord was broken when the Fey progenitor cursed you and passed on her power to you," he said. "Now the demon lord wants what you have because for the first time a power that has been passed on from fey to fey has been passed on to an elf making it easier to steal."

He stared at me with a mildly concerned look.

"Are there any fey that knows about this?" he asked.

I wasn't sure if I should tell him the truth, I don't know how far he would go to protect his son who he just discovered had the future of both Fey and elf kind in his hands.

"Well?" he demanded,

I chose to lie, "No," I answered.

"Okay, then. Tomorrow you won't be heading to school, your mom is taking you to get yourself a familiar outside Mayfair. I will get a train ready for you guys tomorrow," he said. "Now go get some rest, we are going to take care of the mess outside,"

My mom was standing quietly in the background. She was worried., I could tell from her eyes. I may not be good as my sister when it comes to reading people but I know the look of a worried person when I see one.

I nodded at him, then slowly head upstairs to my room. All I did was give a half-smile and that was all she said that night. There was more to this than what my father had told me, like why did he stay with the shadowy figure and what did they discuss? To simply let me off just like that.

All that I had to find out by myself, good thing am quite the detective myself.

The night wasn't yet even over when the weather chose to change abruptly introducing the most serious storm in Mayfair, the thunder was so loud that it shock my window seal each time it sounded, lighting flickered and the wind howled across my entire room. I was asleep and had covered myself whole including the head because of the wind.

That night I had the most vivid dream.

I was in a castle seated at a round table, five other chairs looked just like mine but mine was on the edge along with another that seemed to be occupied by someone who something, it was had to see.

The lighting flickered and I got a horrifying glimpse of who it was on the other side. It was a girl, with silver hair, pale skin, and very bright red eyes. She looked like a child. A very beautiful child dressed as a person from the nineteenth century.

"So this is the new progenitor," she spoke like an adult even with a child's voice as she examined me with her very red eyes. she must be one of the progenitors Miss Eloise had spoken about. Though she didn't look like a fairy or anything to resemble Ned or Nancy. She had pointed ears but something about her was different.

"If you are asking yourself why am different from the fey you've seen well it's because I am not fey at all Ralph Tally," it's like she was reading my mind.

"I am a vampire, Ralph, the vampire progenitor, you can call me Celeste," she sounded so calm. "And don't worry it's only me who knows your identity because of Sandra's blood. I can smell it on you," she said after seeing the fear in my eyes.

"I've come here to visit you and at the same time warn you," she continued. "I am giving you three days to master your powers before I inform the rest of the council."

"Three days?! I don't have three…."

"See you soon, Ralph Tally."

I woke up with a start

And all my windows shattered into tiny fragments of glass, the rain finally came into my room. I waved my hand and all the glass fragments reset themselves and returned to a window, it was basic repair magic anyone can do it.

The lightning flashed so brightly you could think it was daylight.

I slammed my body back on my bed, with my head facing the ceiling. I wondered if the girl wasn't bluffing of course she had to be saying the truth. Why else would a progenitor bluff?

Three days to learn these new powers. Three! I needed to learn faster if am to walk away alive.
