The magic dampeners fell out of the sky at record speed and plunged into the ground with a resounding thud and then I felt the hairs on my arms rise inside my suit.
Beside me, Mallon growled. Bristling at the magical current permeating the air as all magic within the radius of the dampener was cut off.
"Let's go!" I said into the comms and we surged forward. Mallon went ahead of us. I had learned that he was a ferocious fighter and in the one month we'd worked together he'd often ran first into the trouble causing enough damage before we got there.
Stacey was right behind him and we followed. The apartment building had several sides teetering on collapse. As if one heavy enough gust of wind could do the trick. A lot of it couldn't hold people so it made sense that Stacey headed toward one of the ground-floor apartments. Mallon stood a few feet away to see where Stacey was going.
