Suddenly other howls and animalistic screams seemed to come from all around us. I could barely move my head but I heard the footsteps. It sounded like a crowd of people were pouring in from everywhere, The howls and screams continued for a bit and I saw the monster freeze a few yards away.
Finally, they came into view. Shifters of all kinds began to circle us. The monster grimaced and started running towards me, but then a few of the shifters leaped in his way, pushing him back, he tried to fight but there were too many. Killian got up and carried me again, the shifters made way for him as they closed in on Quen. I couldn't help but look back. I couldn't see him in the fray but I knew he would cut his losses and go. I just hoped they'd taken the woman at his house away before then.
Killian had graduated to jog, luckily, somehow, he wasn't jostling me as much. "Where are we going?" I croaked, my eyes drooping and my body now feeling heavily lethargic.
