The spacial Claw Slash severed its head, instantly killing it. Even so, only a small part of its body was destroyed, showing how sturdy the body of a Black Earth Bear was.
But the spacial Claw Slash she used was a weak attack, if she had poured more mana in it and made the slashes a little denser, then there would be no trace of a bear's presence left.
Ding…
Killed A Black Earth Bear.
+5 XP
She dug out the mana core from its body and stored it away, then she dealt with the fish killed by the bear in the same way.
She looked into the river and found many black shadows under the water in this area of the river. These monster fish were similar to piranhas in appearance and named as such. They were probably attracted here by the bear earlier.
She looked at the shadows under the water thoughtfully. These water-based monsters were quite nimble in water and difficult to attack. Even if she put a bait and killed a few, she will have to go into the water to get their corpses, and there was a danger of being killed and eaten by other fish monsters.
She selected a tall tree and inserted bolts vertically in its trunk with the crossbow to climb the tree. After preparing a hiding spot for herself, she sat down on a high tree branch and thought of a solution to the current problem.
Should she hunt down Black Earth Bears first and then think of a solution to the Piranhas? She didn't have much time to spend in the dungeon, she had to go back home before the nightfall. Otherwise, people back at home will start looking for her, and it will be difficult for her to get away again like today.
Just when she was lost in thoughts, she heard another roar from inside the forest. She knew curiosity often kills the cat, so she decided not to go down to see what caused the unrest this time.
The roars of the bear were constant and painful that were slowly dying down, like the bear would die any moment now.
She was still curious about the situation over there, so she took a glance at the map and shuddered.
There were hundreds of red dots gathered in one place, and it was the same direction where the roars of the bear came from.
She had seen two types of monsters in this dungeon so far and thought that there will be only these two types. But from the looks of it, there was also a third type of monster which stays in a colony.
A monster colony? Bears?
Wait, could it be bees, Honey Bees?
Bears like to eat honey, and the Honey Bees live in a colony. So, they were most likely Honey Bees.
If her guess was correct, then there was a huge problem; she could not kill an entire colony of Honey Bees. She would most likely be poisoned to death by their stings alone, much like that unfortunate Black Earth Bear just now.
They were monster Honey Bees but as a colony, their body size was still small, approximately the size of an adult's fist. Such a small insect monster was difficult to aim at when it was flying. By the time she kills one or two, she will be surrounded by the entire colony and turn into a sieve.
Unless she had the protection barrier of the ring she was eyeing in the Shop, she dared not mess with the Honey Bee monsters. Compared to a colony of Honey Bees, the Piranhas in the river seem much cuter.
She touched her chin thoughtfully and her eyes gleamed. "It is dangerous to get the fish corpse from the river, then how about I remove the danger from the root instead?
After all the Piranhas in the river are dead, I can just go and pick up the corpses with peace of mind."
She clapped her hands at the wonderful idea she had just come up with and immediately climbed down the tree.
She was reluctant to use the bear's corpse as a bait. She had heard that the meat of Black Earth Bear was quite delicious. She pulled out a Piranha's corpse from the space pocket and threw it into the shallow waters.
The Piranhas roaming underwater pounced on the corpse of their on kind like hungry beasts and teared it apart in less than a minute. But that one minute was enough for Yuxi to kill this group of Piranhas with spacial Claw Slash.
The blood coming out of their corpses dyed this part of the river red. The smell of blood spread far and wide, luring more Piranhas here.
Slowly, more and more Piranhas gathered in the river in front of Yuxi, lured in by the dead Piranhas, and she would just have to wave her hand once to kill one.
The color of river was so thick that it looked more like a blood river than a water river. Even the flowing water of the river wasn't able to dilute the blood for a while.
With sore arms, Yuxi sat by the river's side after grinding the Piranhas for a couple of hours until no red dot was left in the river. It was easy to use spacial Claw Slash, but after waving her arms for hundreds of times, she felt like her arms were made of lead.
While she killed the Piranhas, she also kept an eye out for any Black Earth Bear who ventured to the riverside to eat fish and end up dying in her hands before having a chance to get closer to her.
With both mental and physical exhaustion, she took a short break and drank a low-level mana potion before getting back on her feet. It was time to collect the corpses of the Piranhas before they got swept away by the water flow.
She went into the water and directly put the corpses into her space pocket. She decided to dug out the mana cores later because doing it now will only waste her time which she could use to hunt more monsters.
After she was done with the Piranhas, she took another short break. She opened her status and looked at the system points which passed the 10k mark. She immediately opened the Shop and bought the item she needed most right now.
The Ring Of Protection.
The ring was made of mythril and had a blue mana gem embedded into it. She put it on her thumb and activated the barrier by injecting a tendril of mana into the mana gem on it.
The mana gem shone with blue light and a circular blue barrier enveloped her entire body, protecting her from all sides. She stopped the flow of mana into the gem and the barrier was deactivated.
After buying the ring and resting her tired body, she ventured into the forest where the Honey Bee colony was located and started killing the bears one by one.
Whenever she saw one, she would keep a certain distance from it and kill it with a sneak attack. Most of the Black Earth Bears she encountered were killed by her quietly.
Some noticed her beforehand and were quite resilient. Even if she used the protection barrier, their strength-based physique gave her a lot of trouble before being killed in her hands.
It took her several hours to kill all the Black Earth Bears in the forest one by one. After doing so, much physical work, she was exhausted and hungry. She sat down while leaning on a tree trunk and took out some roasted meat she had brought from home to eat.
After eating something to regain her strength, she fell into a thought. It should be evening outside at this time, and she had already obtained the item she wanted to buy, should she go home now?
But she had an entire Honey Bee colony right in front of her, waiting for her to harvest it. The Honey Bees were concentrated in one place, if she could use some method to kill the entire colony together, she could get a lot of SP and mana cores at once.
What could kill insects? Insect repellents? Nah, it will take time to take effect. Then what?
I know!
She snapped her fingers excitedly and opened the Shop again. Skimming through many categories, she found the item she was looking for. Spending two hundred SP, she bought the item and equipped it.
After getting ready, she walked where the Honey Bees had built honeycomb.
The honeycomb was built on an enormous and tall tree. Unlike the normal honeycomb, it was many times bigger due to the size of the Honey Bees being bigger.
'Host, the honey these bees produce is an important ingredient in multiple potions, try not to damage the honeycomb to collect the honey later.' The system reminded her kindly.
