Chapter 19 - Chapter 19 A Subordinate Or A Friend?

She laughed slightly. "How stupid, can a family be prosperous without capable descendants? They knowingly let you live like this, being bullied all the time and unable to concentrate on your training to become stronger?"

The boy just lowered his eyes and didn't respond to her mocking.

"Here, drink it." She threw him a low level healing potion.

The boy took the bottle and looked at the green liquid skeptically.

"I think your family doesn't care about you; otherwise they will not turned a blind eye to your predicment. With a family like this, I advise you to use all means necessary to become strong and independent as soon as possible, or you will be trampled over by others all the time and will eventually die." She told him seriously and got up to leave.

Just when she had taken a few steps, intending to leave, she heard a question coming from behind.

"How to become strong in such circumstances?"

She turned around and faced the boy again. He propped up his elbows and sat up without caring about his injuries, looking rather embarrassed. "I, I train so hard every day to the point of exhaustion, yet I am still not strong enough and my resources are also limited. So how to become strong?"

She raised an eyebrow and then smiled. "Only training is not enough, you need good resources and actual experience, wait until you turn 18 and go to the dungeons to tamper yourself in actual combat. But right now, I happen to be in need of a laborer, are you interested in the job? I can protect you from the bullies and also provide you with more resources."

The boy became interested. For the first time in his life he was given a chance to better himself, he wanted to take it if possible. "What kind of work would I have to do?"

"Dig mana cores from monster carcasses." She replied teasingly.

"Dig mana cores?" The boy asked, stunned.

"Yes, it's hard work and takes a lot of time. I don't have the patience or time to do it myself. So, are you interested? Of course, you will have to sign a blood contract before starting the job. I am not going to take any chances with you." She bent down and looked him in the eye while explaining.

A blood contract was a type of contract that binds two parties together. They could be partners in an equivalent contract, or an employer and an employee. It makes sure that the employee stays loyal to his job and doesn't betray the employer by revealing the confidential information about the job or employer.

Unlike other paper or electronic contracts, a blood contract is a magical invention in this world and cannot be violated or broken easily by employees. Otherwise, they will have to suffer a huge backlash, making their mana chaotic or in the worst-case cripple them by having their mana cores broken.

Blood contracts were very popular due to their reliability and are often used in dealings among Rankers.

The boy fell into thoughts. Although, digging mana cores from monster carcasses was hard work, it was easy work and wasn't dangerous, and he might also be able to get a share of those mana cores. He put aside his hesitation, "Okay, I agree. When to sign the contract and start working?"

Hearing his positive reply she took out her cellphone to exchange numbers. "I am Shen Yuxi, What is your name?"

"I am Jun Ye, nice to meet you, Miss Shen." He smiled for the first time during their talk and exchanged contact information with her.

She nodded, "I will contact you once the contract is ready."

"Okay."

After making an agreement with Jun Ye, she left in her car.

After coming home, she asked Axane to prepare a blood contract and a large warehouse with good security measures for her use.

Both things were soon prepared by Axane right after she finished her dinner. She called Jun Ye and gave him the address to the warehouse and asked him to come and meet her there right away.

Some things should be kept secret, so she went to the warehouse alone without taking the driver or the bodyguard.

After giving the fare to the taxi driver, she walked on foot. This area had only warehouses and was quite deserted except for the occasional patrol of security guards from the property management.

Soon she found the warehouse she was looking for. It had big double doors with a digital lock panel on it. She calmly entered the password told to her by Axane and with a small click, the door was unlocked.

She put her hand on the door and made a slight push, the door opened without much noise. She entered, and the sensory lights were turned on automatically. She saw a considerably large empty area inside, waiting to be used.

She nodded and walked towards the back and started taking out monster carcasses from her space pocket. Savage Wolves, Red Eyed Horned Rabbits, Black Earth Bears, Piranhas and Honeybees, all the monsters she had hunted so far were taken out. It didn't take long for the warehouse to be filled with monster carcasses.

After emptying her space pocket in the warehouse, she looked at the filled up warehouse with a smile. She came out of the warehouse without locking the door and stood outside, waiting for Jun Ye to come.

She didn't have to wait for long for Jun Ye to arrive, she saw him stopping in front of the warehouse. He was looking at the address on his phone and then looked around to search for his designated address.

When he saw her standing in front of the warehouse door, his eyes lit up, and he walked towards her quickly. "Hi"

She nodded in response and took out a parchment with writing on it. It was a blood contract made from the hide of an S ranked monster.

She had already written the content of the contract between them, along with her signature with her blood. She handed the parchment to him, "Read and sign the contract, and then you can start your job."

"Alright." He said and took the parchment. After reading it, he pricked his fingers with a needle and dipped the quill in his blood, before signing the parchment carefully.

After he signed his name on the parchment, the writing on the parchment shone brightly with blue light before returning to its original state. It meant that the contract has been concluded successfully.

He handed the parchment back to her and looked at the door of the warehouse inquiringly.

"There are monster carcasses inside, you can take a look, but first remember the door lock password." She then told him the password which he repeated a few times to memorize.

She entered the warehouse again and gestured him to follow. "There are over two thousand of them and I need you to get the job done until tomorrow afternoon. So you might have to spend the night here today."

He looked at the small hills of dead bodies of different types of monsters in awe and nodded in a daze. "It's okay, I don't need to spend the night here. I can use my injuries as an excuse and take leave from school tomorrow."

"That's a good idea but care to tell me why haven't you used the healing potion yet?" She looked at his bruised face critically which she had ignored before because of the business and asked.

He scratched his head awkwardly, "I thought it must be precious and could be used at a critical moment. Why waste it to heal some minor injuries."

"Whatever, just make sure to finish the job until tomorrow afternoon. Since you require resources then I will pay you with mana cores. How much mana cores do you think are appropriate as your payment for this job?" She asked.

"Anyone can do this job, even an ordinary person, so the payment can't be too high. I think 300 E ranked mana cores should be enough." He answered honestly.

"Okay, you can keep 300 for yourself and give the rest to me tomorrow. Oh yes, there are also two D ranked monsters, make sure to give their mana cores to me separately." She told him and turned around to leave.

"I am going to close the door from outside, open it from inside to make sure you remembered the password correctly." She instructed and closed the door after exiting.

After a moment, the door opened with a click and Jun Ye poked his head out of the creak of the door.

"It seems you have memorized it correctly. You can stay or leave now, it's up to you." She waved her hand and turn to leave.

Jun Ye hurriedly came out and closed the door behind him, then ran a few steps to arrive beside her and followed her out of this area.
