Thomas was dumbfounded as he stared at his monstrous son who was seemingly cultiva- wait, no. It seems his son was simply meditating... but, why?
Carl on the other hand swiftly opened his eyes only to be petrified on the spot. Who said that the cultivation grounds of a true cultivator was devoid of intrusion in the Celestial Sect?
How did this old man find his way into my own place?
Of course if Carl knew that 'his' place actually belonged to his father, he'd surely vomit blood over the heavens and the earth.
"Son, w-whose dragon is that, and why is it sleeping with it's head on your lap?" Thomas finally spoke out as he pointed at Carl with a shocked expression frozen on his face.
"Cough cough, whose is it supposed to be except mine?" Saying that Carl smacked Jade's head with a soft smile, jolting her out of whatever dream - if she could dream of course - she was having.
Waking up with a twisted expression on her face, Jade actually wanted to bite off Carl's head and chew it to minced meat! Her eyes flashed with rage as she lifted her hands and was about to return the favour when she suddenly froze.
Whose smell is that?
"Dad, meet my beautiful azure dragon Jade. Jade, meet my petrified dad Thomas. Now I've introduced the both of you, someone should please leave." Carl said with a polite smile as he respectfully pointed to the door.
"You... you..." Thomas was speechless for a sec as his mind went into super drive, trying to process all the information he had received, "Where the hell did you get that dragon from?"
"Hao Qi."
"How is that possible?"
"I bought it with 3 Silver coins."
"..."
The earth wailed and heavens cried, as millions of creatures including the greatest cultivator, Thomas vomited blood at once.
This...
Thomas was frozen on the spot with his finger pointed at his son.
He bought it? Thomas snapped mentally. He actually bought it?!
Looking up to the sky, a certain silver haired father really wanted to cry. Was a any justice in this world? Was the heavens blind?
A mortal bought a dragon? My son bought a dragon? Bought! A! Dragon!
Are the heavens blind? Is there no more justice in this world? What happened to the 'order of the universe' the gods were trying to uphold?
Hao Qi, that miserly elder potter sold a legendary creature worth hundreds of thousands of gold for- for 3 Silver coins.
"Dad can you please, leave?" Carl politely said as he stood up with a frown on his face.
"How can you tell me to leave my own Fragment World? Do you no longer have respect for your father?!" Thomas snapped sharply as he glared at Carl.
At this moment, the prophesy foretold came true as Carl bent over and vomited a bucket of blood...
Where is that baldy? Where is my useless uncle?
How dare they deceive me! I knew that bald old men were shrewd and sly, if it was an attractive young wo- oh fuck it, what's happened has happened.
"Okay dad, cough cough. What brings you here?" Carl quickly spoke after regaining his composure while keeping a straight face.
"Hah... I just wanted to see how my son is doing. I missed you after losing touch for nearly 12 years..." Thomas replied while wearing a mask of pain and regret.
Wow, I didn't know my dad was an Oscar level actor, I almost believed that!
"Hmph, you have turned a blind eye to me for 12 years. Taking away the resources that was rightfully mine because you thought I was weak!" Carl snapped his eyes flashed with a cold light as he glared at his father.
Let's see how this sly old man will defend himself from this, heh heh.
"No no, you've got it all wrong. Let me tell you the truth." Thomas put on a righteous look as he continued, "I did all that to save resources for the future! In order for you to easily break into the heavenly realm and defy the laws of those sly gods! I had waited for the day when you would discover your true potential and shock the world."
"Cough cough, this matter has gotten way too personal. And as an outsider, I'm supposed to take my leave." Jade said from the side with an innocent and small voice, but in the inside she was laughing devilishly while holding a packet of pop corn in her hands.
"No." – "Yes."
Hearing two voices at once, Jade put on a conflicted mask. Who was she supposed to listen to?
"And as your caring father I've decided to ask you to accept this wonderful mission." Thomas said but seeing Carl's cold expression added decisively, "With amazing rewards like a chest of gold coins... or a full set of soul equipment."
Carl's eyes started to twinkle like stars after hearing his father... A chest of pure solid gold coins... or a full set of equipment.
Just what load of trouble his 'wonderful' father is so excited to drop on his head?
Thomas then brought out a sealed golden scroll and handed it to Carl.
Carl took the scroll with mixed expressions. This was a Cultivator Quest Scroll!
A Cultivator Quest Scroll is used to hand out quests for cultivators. Why?
Why would someone like Carl sit in a lotus position for 24hrs just cultivating without a reason? Isn't that boring?
Cultivators get stronger in order to fight the creatures of chaos and hell, aka demons!
Quests are given out to give a Cultivator a certain goal to accomplish in order to cripple or annihilate a fraction of the demon forces on earth. Multiple factions including a subsidiary of the Celestial Sect - Celestial Faction hand out quests which cultivators accomplish in exchange with rewards.
Carl tore open the red seal on the scroll without hesitation as it dissipated into the atmosphere. The golden scroll rolling open before Carl on it's own.

Carl sighed, this would be interesting. Finally something to hit after so long.
"Dad I'll need a spear, a long one that has the features of a dragon and let it be silver. I like silver. Then, get me a tombstone." Carl said excitedly as he handed the scroll back to his father.
"For you?" Thomas asked.
"No, for all the poor imps who shall die by my hand." Carl said as he turned to face a tree right besides him with a malicious grin on his face.
Demon Slaying Azure Dragon Fist!
Sorry mister tree, but Uncle Carl needs to test his power.
Carl threw out a fist which was now glowing in a faint blue light, as his eyes flickered with a brilliant light. It's over!
Boom!
The tree was blown to pieces by the punch, startling both Jade and Thomas. This was a powerful technique!
"Heh heh, those imps should write their wills now. Imp-slaying Carl is going to visit them soon!"
