Chapter 12 - Star Haven

Carl who was dropped at the centre of a garden furiously cursed Liu Xi up to his ancestors.

As a revered and great cultivator - in his heart - he was supposed to be worshipped and treated as the cultivator he is! That stupid fellow pointing a cannon at him deserves to go sterile for eight- no, ten years!

Carl stomped down with his feet in fury, causing a cloud of dust to rise up due to the immense strength used on the sturdy earth. He was still careful not to break the ground though... he wasn't going to pay a fine for letting out his rage.

"Who are you and what are you doing here? Only cultivators on missions are allowed here, so if you're not on a mission... Scram."

Hearing the cold female voice behind him, Carl turned around to find a blonde beauty with a baby wyvern resting in her grasp. He could completely feel the golden sword strapped to her waist letting out a fierce aura of imminent slaughter.

"Actually I'm on a mission and I'm not in a mood to talk to trash... So if you don't have the qualifications to talk me get lost." Carl shot back coldly as he impatiently began to build up his energy, the blue halo around him was distinctively visible. He wasn't going to waste his time with weaklings trying to act tough, he had to make money and get stronger.

"You..." The blonde was furious as she glared at Carl with a sharp gleam in her sapphire eyes which were as cold as ice. One could see a faint red glow emanating from her body as she scowled.

Carl walked past her, brushing his shoulder against hers as he made his way out of the garden. The participants of the mission were made to assemble at an Inn which was supposed to be around her, he had no time to waste with garbage on his path to fame and riches.

The blonde fiercely turned around and glared at Carl's shrinking back. Only if he had toe guts to attack, then we would see who the real trash is amongst us.

If Carl could here her he would retort ruthlessly with: 'Why would a king want t strike a defenceless peasant? Talking so big about guts, why didn't you attack? Despicable.'

The little wyvern in the arms of the girls let out a soft moans as it snuggled closer to it's owner.

"Just pray you don't meet me again you b*stard!"

[Star Haven Inn]

Looking at the words written on the large blue board, Carl heaved a sigh and pushed open the door. With a slight creak, the thick smell of alcohol invaded Carl's sharp sense of smell, making him instinctively hold his breath.

After fully pushing open the door, he found himself standing right before a bar bustling with men and women, the chattering and dancing played without pause.

Carl strode deeper into the bar. He dodged a couple of stray bottles, knives... and darts?! Weaved his way through the drunk men and dancing women, before finally arriving at the door leading to the other section of the inn.

Pushing open the door and stepping inside without hesitation, Carl found himself right before a male. The other party had short grey hair, sharp blue eyes, and an impressive jawline.

"Ahem!" Carl cleared his throat as he stepped aside and strode away, not wanting to interact much with any of the strange people here. He was on a mission, and he had to complete it as soon as possible.

The grey haired man who was wearing a black jacket on his red T-shirt turned to look back at Carl with a strange light in his eyes.

Just now when they'd gotten close enough, he was able to feel the oppressive aura radiating from Carl. He noticed that he wasn't able to pinpoint Carl's power level, leaving him at a loss.

That guy was way beyond the 6th Mortal Grade, and judging from his oppressive temperament he seems to be from a competitive cultivation sect... Who was he?

Carl didn't pay much attention to the man with grey hair. He was walking at a quick and steady pace towards the counter to book a room, he could reflect on other matters after getting a place to sleep first.

After arriving at the counter, Carl was greeted by the attendant- a female with scarlet hair, and azure eyes. From her looks, Carl could attain that she was a western and, not a cultivator.

"Hello, I'm Vernon. Welcome to the Star Haven Inn." The red haired Inn Attendant flashed a friendly smile at Carl, "Please state your stay duration, status and payment method."

"I'll be staying here for a week, 5th Grade Privilege user, and I'll pay in gold." Carl said with a smile as he dropped a pouch of coins on the table before the attendant. "Special request- I'd like to know if any group of four cultivators had frequented this Inn in the past."

The attendant who was still flustered from seeing so many gold coins at once felt as if she was climaxing. Hearing Carl's question, she replied with holding anything back, "Yes. A particularly special group consisting of Two males and Two females had checked in here. They seem to be headed to a garden, they say they're hunting down some imp bandits."

Carl's eyes flashed as he remembered the garden he was dropped into just now. Where that girl with a wyvern was...

Uh-oh!

Carl took his room key and receipt from the dazed attendant and dashed up the stairs. After arriving at the top of the stairs, Carl sighed.

Before him was a large hall with rooms lining up adjacent to each other. Each of them had a number engraved on varying colours of metal plates hung above the door.

Brown... Copper - White... Silver - Yellow... Gold!

Carl smiled as he dashed ahead to find his room. During his dash, he began to wonder how Xiu Fang Fang was doing.

––

In a silent forest devoid of life and distraction...

Xiu Fang who was sitting in the lotus position slowly frowned. Her thoughts were immediately disrupted making her frown fiercely.

Ever since she reached 3rd Grade, she had been unable to break through... She wondered why she had been paying too much attention to Carl when she was facing a major difficulty.

Getting up from the mat she earlier sat on, Xiu Fang stretched out, revealing her "S" like figure. Looking up to the sky, she let out a fierce cry then dashed towards a lone tree.

Looking up to see the overwhelming and steady aura of the mighty tree bearing down on her, Xiu Fang closed her eyes and circulated her energy around all parts of her body.

Slowly gleaming silver scales spread out across Xiu Fang's skin, covering up her entire body up to her wrist and face. Her un-scaled hands clenched into fists, as power surged into Xiu Fang's foot which stomped into the earth.

Her waist bent slightly, and hands filled with power was sent punching out. The immense power built up in her legs and knees added to the overbearing recoil force of the stomp- her fists layered in visible flames rumbled further.

Bang!

The tree was unable to put up a resistance under the fierce assault of Xiu Fang, the power was enough to server the tree from it's roots... sending the upper half hurtling into the sky.

Xiu Fang, still in her attack pose froze with a beam on her face. She had reached a bottleneck, but her strength was overpowering!

After practicing and cultivating the Silver Snake Ascends Beyond the Fifth Layer of Heaven Technique, it's results were worth smiling on upon execution.

Slowly all the silver scales retracted back into his silent, but fiery snake like soul. With a bright beam, Xiu Fang heaved a heavy sigh.

No matter what, she would never remain as a burden to Carl! If she was able to breakthrough earlier, maybe she would have joined him on his first quest.

One cannot get stronger by words anyway, so I should keep on training until I breakthrough! Or I'd watch uncle Thomas to see if I could receive enlightenment...

Either way, I'll surprise Carl with my strength when he gets back!
