Chapter 2 - Lab Rats To Test My True Power

Carl ran with all his might, tears were already streaming down his face while his hair was dishevelled. People who recognised him were given him weird looks as if saying:

'Who let out this mad dog from the cage?'

'Why? Why is this happening to me?' Carl was about to bolt into an alley besides a pottery shop when he accidentally stepped on a banana peel and slipped.

Carl saw the world turn upside down before his eyes, as a cluster of neatly arranged clay pots appeared before his eyes.

Uh-oh...

Crash!

"Who's there?! Don't try anything stupid, I'm an awakened cultivator!" A female voice shouted with a hostile tone.

Hearing the hostile female voice, Carl who was lying on some broken pieces of clay pots suddenly tensed. He scrambled to his feet, and began dusting off the pot pieces.

"My pots~! Who did this?!" A short, but voluptuous looking girl walked out of a pottery shop immediately after Carl got up. The mop held in her hands which was supposed to be used to teach the rascal a lesson suddenly dropped to the ground.

Her scarlet hair was tied back in a ponytail with a small blue band, while a blue head band with the head of a tiger drawn at the centre was wrapped around her forehead. She was wearing tight clothes which displayed her voluptuous assets, and showcased her amazing curves.

She was Mary, a potter. She was also a 9th Mortal Grade Cultivator and worked for the Azure Badger Potter Clan.

Her eyes were burning with rage as she fiercely looked around, only to find nobody but a very handsome- cough cough, boy wearing white robes standing before the broken mess of her pots.

It must be him! This b*stard, everything he broke amounts to 200 copper coins!

Carl on the other hand had trouble keeping his composure as blood nearly shot out of his nose like a bullet! Carl was expecting to see some bald old uncle or a scary old man, but this...

This was a pottery shop, not a beauty pageant!

"I'm sorry, how much does all these cost, I'll pay..." Carl said with a righteous expression on his face as he took a swift peak at the female potter's voluptuous chest.

"Everything here costs no less than 200 copper coins... You can't try to leave here without paying or else!" Mary cracked her fists as a malicious smile crept up to her face, "I heard that the lower part of a male's body receives ten times more pain than the upper. Heh heh."

Gulp...

Carl subconsciously lowered his gaze to his little brother, and then his scalp went numb. Why did she have to target there of all places? No matter what, I can't let anything happen to my sleeping dragon!

"Ok–ok, I'll pay..." Carl fumbled around in his pockets before drawing out a pouch of coins, and throwing it at the potter. "There. That's 280 Copper coins, you can keep the change."

Carl turned around to leave with a smile on his face. He hadn't lost his charm!

Mary was dumbfounded as she caught the pouch of coins... wasn't he some poor or broke rascal wanting to cause trouble? Did he rob a bank?

There's no way anyone could give out so much money easily unless- He's a cultivator!

A cultivator receives resources for growth like water... They have a limitless supply of silver coin, what was a meagre amount of 200 Copper coins to them?

Gods, she had struck gold! She must get on his good side no matter what!

"Hey, what's your name?" Mary asked as she weighted the coins in her hands, a satisfied smile blossoming on her face.

Carl was tongue-tied... wasn't this the lady who wanted to eat him up just now? Since when did she become so friendly?

"I'm Carl... and you're?" Carl said as he looked over his shoulder, his silver eyes glistening as he stared at Mary- more specifically her chest -intently.

"Mary." Mary replied as she bowed slightly, shielding her chest from Carl's eyes.

––

While the two of them were introducing themselves, a group of men in rags walked up to a building besides the potter shop and hid inside. Their eyes were flashing with greed as they glared at the pouch of coins in Mary's hands, and Carl's bulging pockets.

"Boss, aren't we going to make a move on them? That kid seems rich!" One of the men whispered as he observed Carl greedily. He had dishevelled black hair and was holding a wooden stick in his hand with a grin on his face.

"Are you crazy, that woman is a cultivator, and with the help of that kid from the sidelines, they might be able to beat all of us at once!" A squared headed man with spiky black hair said as he spat out the stick that was once in his mouth before continuing, "We'll wait for the kid to be separated from her, and then we'll strike!"

"There he goes!" A short skinny man said with a greed filled expression as he madly waved at his comrades while pointing in Carl's direction.

Immediately after everyone saw Carl waving to the potter and heading into the alley, the spiky haired grinned broadly.

"Come on boys, let's go!"

––

Carl who had stepped into the dark alley grinned broadly as he dipped both hands into his pockets, a malicious expression on his face.

Earlier he had noticed the group of fools who had behind a building, and decided to split up from Mary for a moment to teach them a lesson.

He also wanted to see the truth... was he really a powerful prodigy or a worthless trash? A cultivator would never learn of his limits without combat!

Come on lab rats... your doctor is here. Let's see what discoveries we shall make today.

As expected, in no less than ten seconds after walking into the alley, six men suddenly blocked his path. Three at the front and three at the back.

Each of them had greedy expressions on their faces, and weren't even at the 9th Mortal Grade... truly pathetic and disgusting creatures.

"Kid, don't make this any difficult, hand over the-!" A bulky man in brown clothes, had already started to speak in a domineering tone when the target suddenly disappeared from sight.

Oh Shit!

Bang!

A bolt of light flashed as a goon was sent crashing to the ground. Blood streamed down his lips as the goon immediately collapsed.

What was that? Where was the kid?

Sweat had already started to run down the head of the bulky man as he looked around, with fear evident in his eyes.

We have encountered something strange today, I have to make a-

Bang!

Another bolt flashed as the sound of bones being crushed resounded throughout the dark alley. The goon was only able to let out a sharp scream of agony, before being sent into the air and crashing into a building wall.

Two down... four to go.

Bang Bang Bang Bang!

After a few more flashes of light, blood flew and the screams of pain followed, permeating the cold and silent night and sending a dark vibe to the last remaining goon.

Run...

The goon had turned to run when his heart suddenly clenched, and a cold shiver licked up his spine. His eyes had contracted fiercely, as a feeling of imminent danger crept into his heart.

'I don't want to-!'

Boom!

The power from this strike caused the goons body to stiffen, blood spurts out of his nose and mouth as he lost feeling of his entire body.

Thud!

The goon fell unconscious to the ground as he entered the world of darkness.

"Hehe, I wasn't seeing things! This power, this is the power of a true Celestial Sect Member! I'm truly the son of my father! This is the power of the 3rd Mortal Grade!" Carl's eyes had turned into flames as he clenched his fists, the eternal power of heaven and earth flowed steadily from universal core into his soul.

I seemed to have activated a legendary power for excellent cultivation.

Not only does it speed up my rate of growth, it can also conceal the magnificence of my soul by consuming any energy trying to pry into it! That's why my useless uncle couldn't sense my true power, because a measly 4th Grade Tool isn't going to prove anything!

He said make progress in 3 years? I made progress under 24 hrs!

I name this technique... Soul Devouring Heavens!

"Wait, why does it feel like I'm forgetting something?" Carl held his chin as all the energy wildly flowing around him dispersed instantly, a thoughtful expression appearing on his face.

There were 12 goons, and I only took down 6... where could the rest have gone? Could it be they went after...

My 200 Copper Coins!
