Herbert continued his travel. Even through there were no other incidents he saw another three police patrols and even one military truck on patrol. Herbert thought that the rebels made the government nervous for sure.
As he got there something around 20 people were waiting in front of the building but Herbert knew that they would test many people at the same day. The only problem Herbert had was that he wasn't very social and did not want to talk to the other people so he sat down next to the group.
After 20 minutes a large man got out of the building and said "All the people that want to become interpreters, assemble and get in. NOW!" So Herbert went to the group and with them into the house.
The first thing that Herbert noticed was that it was quite dark inside the rest noticed it too because those who had sunglasses on took them of.
The man that commanded them all in said to them "Listen all i am not going to repeat myself! I am Sargent Schmidt and i am responsible for you all. You all want to become interpreter but have in mind that if you do that you will have a lot of responsibility's on your shoulders. Today we not just gonna test how good your speak but further how efficient you are going to be in stress full situations because you can improve your language skills in service but if we can't trust you in all situations then we will not hire you!"
"Do you have any questions?" without waiting he said "No. Great so today we will put you through tests that will get some of you to your limits. We are going to put you in life threatening situations and everyone we think is not able to work through your service time will be sorted out. Do you understand?" There was one guy saying "Yes", the rest just nodded.
Herbert knew the testing would be difficult but he got a queasy feeling in the stomach. The thing that made him fell extra uneasy was that Sargent Schmidt said that they would put him in life threatening situations and not that they would simulate life threatening situations.
But he didn't had time to worry to much because the Sargent called out to everyone "I know you are all civilians right now but i still demand some discipline, order and obedience from you! Everyone who can't do that can leave right now." no one moved on this remark. "So you all think that you are made to be in the service but i think that fifteen of you will leave voluntarily or by being sorted out by us anyways i hope that i am wrong but the tests in this facility have the reputation to be extra hard because we want that only the best get to the lines"
Herbert was sure that this speech was meant to motivate the group but even he could see that some of the group were close to give up but the truth was that exactly that was what they wanted. Schmidt's goal was to discourage the group just to see who could work perfectly while there moral is low and who wouldn't show that his moral is low.
Well Herbert never was someone who would complain about a situation he would change it or he would try to live with it.
The Sargent told them, after he saw the first looks of discourage "So if you would follow me to the first test. I am sure that you will find it very entertaining. But first a little health check."
