The Delta squad got ready to leave the cave. As they were at the exit they noticed it was cloudy morning everyone was surprised except Karsten because he got beside a map, a compass, some strange coins, a small bag, binoculars and orders also a new olive green wristwatch.
"Well our first order is to march Ca two kilometers north. If we get there in half an hour we will get some extra supply coins like these here" he showed the coins he got from there instructor to the squad. "We can trade them for MRE's, some food supply's." he explained "But we can exchange them for more we can get things from extra munition over supply's like cigarettes up to extra equipment. The only problem is that we have to move now to get there in time and i heard that it could be possible that we do have to get off-road. Before we move out do me a favor and look out for any surprises from enemy patrols to friendly troops or randomly shattered supplies everything is possible so stay observant that could bring us extra supplies. So we better start moving guys we can't be sure when it's going to rain and I in person would like to get there before. Who knows what's our next job is going to be. Let' move it Delta squad "And with that they started executing there first order.
"Okay we are going in three rows, Herbert and I are walking in the front then Bernd will be in the middle because he is the youngest and Hans and Marie will walk at the end. Each row will walk with three meters distance to the row in front. Any objections?" He looked in to the group. Hans and Bernd looked like they both are glad that they were happy being separated, Herbert looked happy too, the only one who looked unhappy was Marie but she just kept quiet about it. "Then move it."
The path they took was through an dense spruce forest. Herbert shivered because it remembered him of the dream he had the day before. After they walked for ten minutes Karsten said to Herbert "You seem to have made a new friend and jokes besides I thought you normally don't talk to many people. I am glad for you. What were you talking about with her?" He asked curious
"Not much she just asked me if I could try to work in the group and not just do the work that I was ordered to do but she also told me that if I try that she would help me out if i ever have a problem but I don't have to help her. Isn't that crazy?" Karsten looked concerned
"That is a great deal on your site but shall I give you a little tip? Not everyone who looks like they want to help you want to help you. I don't want to tell you that she doesn't want to help you I just want to tell you that you should look out for people who want to just use you for there own goals." Karsten said. Herbert wondered because even he could see that Karsten had a look on his face that he couldn't place right. "Did i say something wrong?" Herbert asked. "No no i just remembered something. That has nothing to do with ..." looking to the left Karsten went quiet within his sentence.
Raising hist fist and going down behind a big tree .He whispered to the others "Everyone get down!"
Bernd just kicked into Karsten because he wasn't paying attention "Get down now!" he whispered again. Herbert wanted to ask what Karsten saw but Marie beat him "What is it chief?" "There" He pointed in direction west "We got company." Karsten took out his binoculars."Let's have a look. Who are you guys?" He saw a group of twenty armed guys with the Dominion Flag on there uniforms. After he saw that they shouldn't be a threat he said "Stand down those are friendly. I gonna talk with those guys. Herbert you come with me. The rest stays here. This shouldn't take long." Not understanding what was going on Herbert just nodded and got together with Karsten out of cover.
"Put your hands up." Karsten whispered to Herbert while doing it himself. They slowly closed the distance between them and the other group. "Hello" Karsten shouted after they got Ca. thirty meters near them. The whole group just instantly readied there guns and pointed them at Karsten and Herbert.
"WHO ARE YOU??" one of the guys screamed. Herbert started sweating. Karsten answered calm "I am Karsten Wagner and he is Herbert Bauer my adjutant. We are from the trainee squad Delta. We saw you and were thinking you might need help." "You are from a trainee squad? You don't look that way. And shouldn't all trainee squads in this region have five members?" The one who seemed to be in charge asked "Yes we are and we just stick to the protocol. The Leader and his adjutant go and check the situation while the rest is waiting at a save position. Isn't that the right way?" He answered again calm while the other group still kept there guns pointed at them.
"You have balls especially for a greenhorn. Take your guns down. "The one in charged ordered and the group did as they were ordered. "My name is Allrich you can tell your people that they can come out." "Aren't you forgetting something? We have to check each others codes first." Karsten said "You are a smart one! Even through i am not a big fan of this whole protocol shit it can be useful if you have time to use it. I think you are the first guy who passed nearly perfect in this test." Allrich said.
"What do you mean with "nearly"?" Karsten wanted to know. "It is good that you aren't surprised that this is a test but you made one mistake. Your people didn't listen to your order, they came after you." Karsten looked in the direction were he left the squad while two soldiers escorted them. " Most other Officers would tell you that this is unacceptable but since this is the test if you will receive a real training, this is acceptable."
