A week after Lily and Mr. Graff's dinner.
----
"Calm down, Lily." Alona chuckled, seeing Lily, who kept walking back and forth in their working room. Today was an important day for Lily because the laboratory would finally wake Matthew from his long slumber.
Lily turned to Alona. She then took a deep breath. "How can I be calm on a day like this? I couldn't even sleep all night."
Alona finally approached Lily and held her shoulder. "Calm! Relax! Okay? Take a deep breath."
Lily looked at Alona for a while, then followed Alona's suggestion to take a deep breath. She repeated it several times until she could calm himself. When she settled down, Lily nodded her head at Alona.
"I'm pretty calm now," Lily said.
"Good," said Alona.
Lily then smiled at Alona. "What can I do without you, Lona?"
Alona laughed softly. "Without my support, you can only stare at Matthew's face behind his cryonic tube."
Lily laughed softly. "You are my best friend."
"I think Ryan has taken my place as your best friend," said Alona.
"You're still my number one best friend," said Lily.
Alona looked at Lily. "Are you ready now?"
Lily sighed softly and nodded her head. "I've never been this ready."
"Then let's meet Matthew," said Alona.
Lily smiled shyly after hearing Alona's words. After twenty years had passed since Matthew had become a resident of her father's laboratory, her chance to meet Matthew finally came true. Lily was nervous and enthusiastic about Matthew's resurrected day.
Lily and Alona walked together towards the central laboratory in that facility. Mr. Graff will carry out the procedure to resurrect Matthew in that laboratory.
----
When Lily and Alona arrived at the central laboratory, Alona immediately walked to the observation room. She joined the other researchers who would also witness the procedure performed on Matthew. While Lily approaches, Mr. Graff and Max are doing the preparations.
Lily stared at the cryonic tube that held Matthew's body. She smiled crookedly and then approached Mr. Graff, standing near the panel next to the tube. "Is everything ready, Dad?"
Mr. Graff nodded his head. His face was serious when he checked Matthew's vital signs. "Everything will go well.
"I trust you, Dad," Lily said.
Mr. Graff turned to Lily and smiled. "Let's do it."
Lily nodded as she smiled at Mr. Graff. Lily's eyes lit up with happiness. Not only because she would meet Matthew soon but also because today will prove Mr. Graff's hard work. After this, his father no longer had to fear being labeled a mad scientist.
Mr. Graff then gave instructions to researchers and research assistants who participated in his research. He smiled at them all and nodded slowly. "Let's start the procedure."
The researchers and research assistants who helped Mr. Graff smiled broadly. They immediately got ready on their monitor panels. At the same time, Mr. Graff wanted to give a little welcome to the guests watching the procedure that used to wake Matthew from his slumber.
"Welcome, everyone. Thank you for witnessing the crazy procedure I am about to perform," said Mr. Graff. He greeted everybody in the observation room with a soft laugh.
The guests who were standing in the observation room laughed softly. They all know that Mr. Graff's research falls into research madness. Mr. Graff freezes the body of someone dying and makes it look like he is in a hibernation phase.
The first phase of Mr. Graff's research has done successfully on Matthew. But Resurrecting Matthew is more complex than putting him to sleep.
In resurrecting process, Mr. Graff must ensure that all of Matthew's organs can work properly again. Mr. Graff also has to minimize the side effects after Matthew's body is in a very long sleep phase.
After being resurrected, Matthew will also receive some physical therapy to restore the function of his muscles. And now, with just one instruction, Mr. Graff will witness the results of his hard work over the years.
"Are you ready, Lily?" asked Mr. Graff to Lily.
"I'm ready," Lily replied.
Mr. Graff then took two injections that he had prepared to resurrect Matthew. To revive the organs' functions in Matthew's body, Mr. Graff used the first injection. At the same time, the second injection is Lily's serum, which will kill cancer cells that are still in Matthew's brain.
They must take both injections simultaneously. After the first injection was successful and Matthew's organs function slowly, the second injection will be given immediately before the cancer cells in Matthew's brain increase again.
Mr. Graff opened one of the panels that connected directly to the thin tube attached to Matthew's body. He injects the fluid into the syringe he brings to the panel. Then he gripped the needle and immediately approached the cryonic box that held Matthew's body.
Lily's breath seized when the liquid Mr. Graff finally moved to the thin tube connected to Matthew's body. Her hands trembled as she held the injection she was carrying. Lily herself will inject the results of her research into Matthew.
Everyone in the room was waiting for the reaction from the injection that Mr. Graffhad just given to Matthew. The guests and researchers who watched also held their breath.
"The impulses are starting to work," exclaimed the Research Assistant, watching Matthew's nerve impulse monitor.
Lily sighed in disbelief when she heard the Research Assistant's words. "This is a good start," Lily thought.
Not long after, the other Research Assistants began to tell the heart rate was slowly increasing, oxygen levels in the blood and air in the lungs all showing an increase.
Lily's turn. She approached the cryonic tube that held Matthew's body. She glanced at him for a while. After that, Lily opened the panel above Matthew's head.
Lily took a deep breath before injecting the liquid from the syringe she had brought. After that, she injected it into the panel directly connected to Matthew's head.
Lily gasped when she saw Matthew's body shaking as she finished the injection. "You'll be fine, Matt."
After that, Lily back away from Matthew's cryonic tube. She approached Mr. Graff while he was watching Matthew's vital signs.
"You're doing great," said Mr. Graff to Lily.
"Thanks, Dad," Lily said. She also paid attention to the vital signs on the monitor of Matthew's body while occasionally paying attention to the cryonic tube that stored Matthew's body.
"Looks like he'll wake up soon," said one of the Research Assistants.
Lily came back closer to the cryonic tube that kept Matthew's body from taking a closer look. Two paramedics also stood behind Lily, carrying a gurney and a thick blanket.
When Lily nodded slowly, Mr. Graff immediately pressed the button near his hand. The Cryonic tube that holds Matthew's body opens. Lily looked at Matthew's face, trying to open his eyes.
"Welcome back, Matthew," Lily said with a small smile. Lily's blue eyes met Matthew's brown eyes.
