Chapter 7 - New Skills

The Realm Of Rest

Christopher, "So. I have a LOT of questions, and not a lot of time."

God, "Ask away."

Not wanting to waste any time. Christopher, "Why do I have 20,046 Stored FP?"

God, "You leveled up 11 times."

Christopher, "So, it's like leveling up in a video game where all your HP, and MP gets restored. I have FP too and I also have the skill, FP Store. So all the excess FP went into the Holy Store, instead of being wasted. Did I get that right?"

God, "Couldn't have said it better myself."

Christopher, "This one has been bugging me. Marhaus seemed to be able to tell how much Exp he would get based on level.".. "How does level affect the amount of experience you get?"

God, "That one is a little tricky to explain, but I will give it a try. Every ten levels it gets harder to level up. Because of this you will get double the stat points per level up, each time you get past the ten levels threshold."

Christopher still looked confused.

God sighs, "I will give you an example. To get to level 2 from level 1, it took 20 Exp. To get to Lvl 3 it took 30 Exp. To get to Lvl 4 it took 3

40 Exp... But to get from Lvl 10 to Lvl 11 the increase is tenfold. It costed 100 Exp to get to Lvl 10, and it took 1,100 Exp to get to Lvl 11."

Christopher, "Why such a big increase?"

God, "Because it's a hurdle to get to the next stage. You get 50 free stat points every level up, untill you reach Level 11. Then it doubles to 100 stat points per level up. After level 21 it doubles again, giving you 200 stat points ever level up.

God, "Each threshold is like this. Every ten levels it gets harder to level up, but the payoff doubles each time. If I didn't do it this way. There would be too many monstrously powerful individuals. The lower leveled individuals, would be squashed before even getting a chance to level up."

Christopher, "Yeah, I remember in my past life. There were always those guys who started the game first, and since they were a much higher level. They could do whatever they wanted and made the games horrible for everyone else."

God, "Exactly."

Christopher, "Well that explains how much Exp I need to level up at each level, but not how much Exp I get based on my opponents level."

God, "All the Exp they have gained in their life, you get after defeating them. You don't actually have to kill them. Just beating them into submission will do."

Christopher, "Okay, at least I don't have to kill to level up.. Now how do I level up my skills?"

God, "FP... Whatever it costs you to buy the skill, it also costs to level it up. You can Level them up in the Miracle Store. By the way, I gave you a discount on "God's Eyes". Normally it would be 2,000, but that wouldn't have left you enough to use it. So I temporarily lowered the price."

God, "You can think of all these gifts as your birthday presents. After all this is Christopher Pendragon's birthday, and your first day in this world."

Christopher, "So this is my new birthday! Well I've never had a birthday quite like this one. Thanks for all the gifts."

God with a smile on his face, "No problem, that's what fathers are for. Happy Birthday."

Christopher chuckles a little before asking, "So why even though Marhaus is a strength based fighter, are his stat points more spread out?

God, "It's not a video game. If you increase your strength, without increasing your defense. You will be a glass canon.".. "Also Strength without Agility still gives you the strength to move fast, but you won't be able to control your own movements. You would run right into stuff all the time.

God, "Also without Stamina you wouldn't last long in any battles, or travels. Without Intelligence you don't have enough MP to cast larger spells. Without Wisdom you would take forever to get your MP back. Without Carm you would have a hard time getting anyone to listen to you. All stats have their benefit, and if you stick all of your points into one. You WILL suffer the consequences."

Christopher, "Oh, I didn't realize it was that serious. I will have to think carefully before spending my free stat points."

Christopher deep in thought. Decided it was better to check and see what skills he could get first. "I'm gonna check out the Miracle Store now.".. "I will ask if I have any questions."

Christopher is spoiled for choice, after all he now has 20,056 FP.

He soon realizes though that if he spends his FP foolishly, he will have a lot of low level skills, that don't amount to much. So he settles on getting a couple necessary skills, and one emergency skill.

He first chose Bank. Bank; Can store any amount of money, of any currency. Can also withdraw any of the money within, whenever the bearer wants. (Lvl MAX) active/passive. It costs 500 FP to buy.

Christopher, "This makes more sense for storing all the gold in the vault. Than to spend it on leveling up Item Box, not even knowing if I could store that much in there."

He then picked Minor Cure. Minor Cure; Can cure minor status afflictions. The target regains 10 SP per level. Costs 10 FP. (Lvl 1/10) active. It costs 10 FP to buy, and for each level up.

He then leveled it to the max, evolving it into Cure; Can cure normal status afflictions. The target regains 200 SP per level. Costs 20 FP. (Lvl 1/20) active. It costs 100 FP to level up.

Next he bought Minor Heal. Minor Heal; Heals target, regains 10 HP per level. Costs 10 FP. (Lvl 1/10) active. It costs 10 FP to buy, and to level up.

He also leveled it up to the max. It evolved into Heal; Heals target, regains 200 HP per level. It can reattach limbs. Costs 20 FP. (Lvl 1/20) active. It costs 100 FP to level it up.

Christopher, "Do Buff skills stack?"

God, "Some do. But they have to be related."

Christopher then bought his first buff skill. Holy Aura; The user is coated in a golden aura and their stats double. Those in the presence of the user will be affected. Those on the side of light have there SP refilled. Those on the side of darkness have their stats halfed. The areas that the user walks, will become Holy Sanctuaries, where evil dare not tread. Costs 100 FP, lasts 1 minute. (Lvl 1/Infinite) active. It costed 1,000 FP to purchase.

Christopher, "This one I will save for emergencies."... "Hey, dad?"

God, "Yes?"

Christopher, "I saw a skill called Blessing. Why is it so expensive? It just says it can bless anything."

God, "Ahh. That skill has a lot of uses. The Priest's of this world all have a similar skill called Minor Blessing. They use it to fight against the darkness encompassing their world. It can stop a living being from becoming an undead, as long as it is applied early enough. It can also be applied to silver, turning it into Holy Silver. Said silver will leave a burn on any evil creature that comes into contact with it.".. "The inhabitants of this world use Holy Silver in their currency, and even cover their weapons in it."

Christopher has stars in his eyes after hearing this. "So when it says I can bless anything. It's not just silver, it's anything I want?"

God, "Yes.".. "It also doesn't cost any FP to use it. Which is why it's so expensive. However if you were to apply a specific Blessing, like Blessing of Sharpness, on a weapon. It would cost FP. The amount of FP would depend on the type of Blessing and the type of object, you choose."

Christopher, "Are the specific Blessing permanent?"

God, "They can be, but those Blessings would be rather expensive."

Christopher, "Alright, I get it now."

For 3,000 FP, Christopher bought Blessing. Blessing; The user may bless anything. (Lvl MAX) active.
