Chapter 11 - Marina (1)

Deap in the sea

"Sister's, can you please tell me about the times you went to the surface again?"

"Marina. You will be going tomorrow. We've already told you about our trips to the surface, so many times already."

"Yeah. It's gonna be our birthday tomorrow too. Since it will be your fifteenth birthday tomorrow you will get to see it for yourself."

Nereid, "Now Marina. You need to get ready and stop bothering your older sisters. For they also have to get ready."

Marina a little disappointed, "Okay mother."

Marina then swam off to her room in the underwater palace.

Neptune, "Oh Nereid my love. Our youngest seems to be too existed to contain herself. I just hope that she isn't disappointed by what she finds tomorrow."

Nereid, "Have faith husband. She will certainly find what she is searching for."

Neptune hugs his wife, "I can always count on you to calm my restless spirit."

Now in Marina's bedroom.

Marina caught up in her excitement, "Oh, I just can't wait to see the human world. All I have to go off of are the stories I've heard from my sisters. They all got to go on their fifteenth birthdays, and now it is finally gonna be my turn."

Marina then swam over to her statue.

Marina, "I can't believe I got to keep this statue of a human. My sisters told me that this is how all humans look. Honestly the only difference is that they have these things called legs, instead of a tail fin."

Marina, "Oh. I am so excited, I'm even talking to myself."

Later that night, Marina just couldn't sleep.

Marina whispered, "No matter how hard I try I just can't sleep, but everyone else is already sleeping."

She then got an idea that she just couldn't get out of her head.

Marina, 'If I quickly go and take a peek, then come right back. No one should realize that I even left. I can't sleep anyways. What harm could it do if I got to see the surface a little early.

She was motivated to get out of the palace quietly, but what she didn't know was that her father had noticed what she was doing.

Neptune whispered to himself. "I will let her have her fun, but I will be keeping an eye on her to keep her safe."

At the surface.

Marina pops her head out of the water for the first time, and sees the upper part of the ship she had seen earlier.

Marina, "Wow. So this is what a ship that hasn't sunken looks like, and this is what the wind from the air feels like."

Neptune seeing that his daughter was having a good time, got a warm feeling in his heart. "I'm glad you finally got to experience what you've always wanted to."

Marina bears witness to a birthday celebration for a handsome young Prince no older than herself, being held on the ship. She becomes mesmerized by the young Prince. While blushing from the sight him, she stays a safe distance away. That way no humans can notice her.

Some time later she had noticed that the sun would be rising in an hour or so. She then in a hurry turned around intending to head back home before anyone noticed she was gone.

Upon seeing this Neptune quickly hid, and started to head back himself.

Just as Marina was about to be out of view of the ship. A violent storm rolled in out of nowhere. The storm didn't mean that much to Neptune, so he kept on going. Not noticing his daughter had turned around, and was facing the ship from earlier.

Upon seeing the ship being lifted by a huge wave.

Having seen what happens to ships that are unlucky enough to be caught up in a storm like this one. Marina swam as fast as she could to get back to the ship.

What she saw, made her panic on the inside. The ship was being thrown down into the sea, crushing it into little pieces upon impact.

Marina had then began to swim the fastest she had ever swam in her life. Upon reaching the ship, she saw the dead bodies of humans all over the place. She was panicking inside even more now, and with her heightened senses she located the young Prince floating on top of a plank of wood.

The Prince was heavily wounded, due to the destruction of the ship. Marina then began using her Water Magic to heal him. She was also dragging the plank of wood the Prince was on to the nearest shore. Fighting a tough battle against the sea.

Upon reaching the shore she spots a temple, and drops the Prince off there. The Prince isn't fully healed yet, but she was low on Stamina and MP. She also knew from her family that places like this had healers in it.

She had waited until sunrise, untill hearing noises of other humans coming. She then hid herself in the water. She had seen a woman run up to the Prince and finish healing him.

Marina satisfied headed home.

Upon arriving she had seen her dad was up and looking in her direction.

Neptune, "What do you think you were doing last night? I waited hours for you to come back. You had me worried that something might have happened to you."

Marina, "I, I'm sorry dady. I just couldn't do nothing. I saw a shipwreck happening last night, and I had to help."

Neptune now realizing what his daughter had probably went through, rushed over and embraced her in his arms. "I'm sorry honey, I didn't know you had seen something that tragic."

Upon receiving her father's comfort Marina began to cry. They stayed like this until she had fallen asleep from exhaustion. After placing her in bed Neptune returned too his own bed.

Now his wife was waiting for an explanation too. He sucked it up and came clean. Upon hearing this Nereid was also concerned about Marina.

That day the festivities had to be done a bit differently than originally planned. The King and Queen had said that Marina had needed some extra rest, and that she may not be coming.

In the afternoon the festivities were almost completed, when Marina had showed up. Everyone present had wished her a happy birthday, and gave her their presents. She had thanked everyone for what they had done, as she did appreciate it.

She then went to the surface for the "first" time. This time was different as the sun was out, and the sky was beautiful.

Marina, 'I wonder how that Prince is doing right now?'
