After getting Wayne some treatment and some well-needed rest, the following day, everybody gathered in the rec room, even Wayne, who looked like he was full of vigor.
"Well, what's on the menu today, are we talking to Daylight today?" Mystic asked.
"Daylight? Daylight is your sponsor?" Wayne asked as he looked towards Duggar.
"Yes, he is. Who is we? He met you guys once, and that was by accident. He doesn't have time to get to you know you guys," Duggar said towards Mystic.
"Well, damn, dude, you don't have to say it like that," Mystic said as he rolled his eyes.
"Well, that's cool you can talk to your sponsor like that," Wayne said, and at the same time, Rocky came up behind him and hugged him.
"Oh my goodness, I'm glad you're okay, I didn't want to lose my boy toy so soon," she said as she kissed him on the cheek.
Wayne stood stunned for a moment and just grew an awkward smile.
"Thanks, Rocky, I'm glad you care so much."
"I can show you how much I really care," Rocky said with a wink.
"Would you leave the kid alone, you're making me get secondhand embarrassment," Nina said with a wry smile.
"Yeah, yeah, "Rocky said as she waited to hear what Duggar had to say.
"Well, for right now, just hold tight while I contact Daylight and see what the verdict is."
A few moments later, Duggar returned to the room and looked at his team, "Well it seems Daylight is out helping with the beasts at moment, I told him the urgency on the subject, and he said he would be back in two days."
"Two days? Sounds like a vacation to me," Mystic said as he propped his feet up on the table.
"Yeah, you're right, whatever you want to do for the two days is up to you, but we all must meet back here," Duggar said before dismissing the meeting and left everyone to do their own thing.
"So what are you going to do?" Rocky asked Wayne as she nudged his elbow.
"I don't know, I was thinking of doing the VR for a bit, see the higher levels," Wayne said as he was thinking about the beasts the heroes were fighting.
"That sounds like work, you should relax with me, there aren't a lot of times we get days like these," Rocky said with a pouty lip and puppy eyes.
"Maybe next time?" Wayne asked with a wry smile.
"Promise?"
"Okay, we can make it a promise."
Rocky kissed him on the cheek, and they walked to the VR room.
"Would you like help with the setup?" Rocky asked as she saw Wayne staring at the buttons on the computer but hadn't touched one yet.
"How'd you figure?" Wayne asked with a light chuckle.
Rocky didn't say a word but scooted Wayne over and got everything ready for him, "Starting from Level Five?"
She asked before confirming the inputs. Wayne just shook his head in agreement as he headed to the chair and sat down, letting the process happen as it did before. No too long after sitting, Wayne felt the pulling sensation, and then the next second, he was on a sidewalk in the middle of a downpour, with civilians walking around like they had places to be.
Wayne didn't pay them any attention as he wondered where the beast would be coming from and what kind of beast it would be.
Some time passed by, and nothing happened, leaving Wayne thinking that the VR was probably messed up, but then the next second, he heard a distant crash and an explosion. Wayne hurried to the scene to find the beast he was looking for.
The beast resembled a lion with how it was shaped, but that's all, the beast had fleshy skin with tendrils around its head, and it was much larger in size.
[Shadow Void]
Wayne instantly used his ability to help the people near the beast escape, Wayne did this for five minutes, and in the midst of it, the beast was able to hit him, leaving him skidding across the wet pavement, Wayne was pissed, but he knew he needed the area clear before he goes all out.
The beast didn't make it easy for Wayne, chasing him with every void he used to move people away. A few moments passed, and Wayne finally got the area clear enough to where he could put his full attention on the beast.
The beast just stared down at Wayne as it crouched down, encircling him, waiting for the right moment to pounce.
[Death Smoke]
Wayne ran forward as the smoke began covering his figure, and at the same time, the beast lunged to where Wayne was, but when he landed, he hit nothing, and a second later, it felt a hail of spikes landing on its back, infuriating it. The beast roared as the tendrils began extending and trying to attack Wayne wherever he was. Wayne quickly had to fight off the tendrils that were near him and jumped back a distance.
When Wayne threw down the spikes, he noticed they barely penetrated his skin, but Wayne knew if he could keep the beast in the smoke, the smoke would do its job. This wasn't the best method, considering it took a lot of stamina, but it was the only plan he could think of besides the flames. He was trying to save that for further levels if he wanted to get up to level ten.
After a few moments of the beast using his tendrils and pouncing everywhere looking for Wayne in the smoke, the skin on the beast began to decay, turning black, eventually popping and oozing black blood. The beast roared, going in circles, looking for the one that caused this but ultimately died before he could do anything.
"Nice job, babe! Do you want to keep going?" Rocky said as she spoke into the mic.
Wayne just smiled and shook his head yes to keep going.
