Wayne looked at the weapons and pointed to the five that he was most interested in.
"Tell me more about these," Wayne said.
"Ohhh, nice choices, well let's go in a row and start off with this staff as you can see its fully contractible, making it easy to carry anywhere. The sleek black color with the blue razor-sharp tips offers a nice modern look. Very durable and can withstand most attacks," Zeak paused to look at Wayne before going on to the next weapon.
"This is the twin daggers. The grip on the hilt can make the blades change in temperature, making it hot enough to cut through anything with ease. The harder you squeeze, the hotter it gets," Zeak then showed Wayne a demonstration of the blades getting searing hot.
"Alright, these gauntlets they may look huge now, but when they go on your hands," as Zeak shoved the gauntlets onto Wayne's hands," you can see they fit to size, it will already increase your physical prowess with your fighting, but now your hands won't get all banged up," Zeak said with a slight chuckle as he took the gloves off of Wayne.
"So? What do you think so far?" Zeak asked as Wayne didn't have a slight hint of emotion on his face letting Zeak know if he liked it or not.
"Maybe we should finish the demonstration first before I say anything," Wayne said, waving his hand for Zeak to finish.
"Okay, these twin sabers are sleek, light, and can cut most material easily, just like the daggers, if you squeeze the hilt, it becomes searing hot and gives you the ability to both defend and attack flawlessly if mastered. These are my personal favorite, if you can't tell," Zeak said with a smile as he put the sabers down and picked up the last item.
"Ahh, yes, this is the rope dart, very versatile with its range of attacks, you can keep them a distance or fight up close, the only negative I will say about it is that its the hardest to master out of all of these but if you master it the benefits are the best."
As Zeak put down the rope dart, he looked at Wayne for an answer.
"Well, I think I'll take these, would it be bad if I wanted this as well?" Wayne said, pointing to the items.
"No problem! If you were to ask to have all of them, I'd give it to you," Zeak said with a wry smile.
"Hehe, no need for all that, I'm not greedy or anything. Plus, wouldn't you want to sell some stuff for money?"
"Hmm... I mean, I could," Zeak said as he looked at his items, pondering.
"Alright, well, now that I'm up, I'm going to head to the facility and use the training room for a bit to get used to these, you can sleep wherever, what's mine is yours, except my toothbrush... that's gross."
"Haha, I'm not an animal Wayne," Zeak said with a wry smile.
And for the next couple of weeks, Wayne trained with his new weapons, and Duggar informed the team daily that they weren't any missions available that were worth taking. The team hung out a couple of times, but it was mainly Rocky hanging out with Wayne as much as she could.
"When do you think you will make a move on me?" Rocky asked Wayne as they arrived at the rec room for the daily meeting.
"Haha, it has to move on its own time," Wayne said with a nervous smile on his face.
Rocky just blushed at his innocence and sat down at the table next to him while everyone was still coming in one by one.
"Why doesn't he just message us instead of making me come out of bed at 8 in the morning?" Mystic asked as he yawned.
"You know how he is with his routines, we've been doing this forever, why change it now," Nina said as she leaned back against a wall expecting Duggar to come in any time soon.
After a few moments, Duggar rushed into the room, shocking everyone out of their sleepy daze.
"We have to go now!" Duggar said as he looked flustered and looked behind him to hear the surroundings getting louder and louder with people mobilizing.
"Wh-whats going on?" Mystic asked, still confused.
All the sidekicks in the meeting this morning, it was reported that thousands of beast are sweeping the area by the Grand Canyon in troves," Duggar said with a worried face, and then he continued.
"They don't know where they came from, but I think I have an idea... what if they were hatched? It's the only thing that can make sense to me because all these beasts couldn't have gone undetected."
And with Duggar's final words, everybody had big eyes as they knew what they were up against.
"How many squads are going?" Nina said as she was heading toward Duggar to get ready to head out.
"Half, the other half is on standby," Zeak said still with a pondering gaze.
"Let's go," Nina said to Duggar, breaking him out of his thoughts, the group headed outside, and Duggar proceeded to use his ability to fly to the location.
"It should take us a little over an hour, we will come up with a plan when we can assess the situation," Duggar said to everyone while they were flying.
After a while, Duggar and the others noticed the smell started changing in the air into a foul smell, it was almost sulfuric but more pungent. Duggar used his ability to make an air bubble around everyone, but it could only cut the smell slightly.
"What the fuck is that?" Mystic said as he covered his nose.
"It might have something to do with that," Wayne said as he pointed to the ground ahead of them and could see bodies littered on the floor from people to the beast, everybody's eyes widened as they saw the beast, fully matured, it was much larger than they expected. The size of a short bus, and some were in the shape of lions while others had the shape of hippos.
"This is going to be a long day," Mystic said as everyone remained silent as they headed to the battlefield.
Meanwhile, Roy got a call on his phone from Ava about the situation in the Grand Canyon and how she made sure Duggar's team was sent to the field.
"You better not fuck up, you won't have many opportunities like this," Ava said as she thing up the phone.
Roy then took a deep breath and sighed.
"Once this is over, everything will be alright," Roy said as he sank into the floor, becoming a shadow, and started traveling to the battlefield.
