Vernon saw the gun but didn't worry about it, he could use his fire to melt any projectile coming toward him. So he saw this as a last-ditch effort from Wayne and grew more confident that he could get rid of him and get on with what they were doing. Graves started running towards Wayne thinking the same thing as Vernon. With his resilient body, nothing could penetrate his skin but he was wary of Wayne's strength, not sure if he can dodge or withstand a hit, but figured it'll give him enough room to strike and he was going to put his all into that punch.
Wayne seeing this shifted his aim from Vernon to Graves.
"I guess you'll do as a test for this," Wayne shouted towards Graves as he fired off the gun, then streams of yellow light shot out. Graves dodged all the bullets with ease only having to move minimally.
"Hahaha, that's useless to you!" Graves said as he continued his path since Wayne missed all his shots.
"Damn, I really need to work on my aim," Wayne said with a wry smile as he shot a few more beams towards Graves trying to get one to land. After a couple of seconds, he finally landed one and he loved the results.
"AHHH! WHAT....THE...HELL...ISSS...THAAAAAT," Graves collapsed to the floor and dragged across the floor eventually landing a few feet in front of Wayne. His powers deactivated as his body stiffened and the yellow light crackled around him, no one had to look long to see that he was in absolute pain.
After six seconds the shot wore off and Graves was breathing heavily trying to regain his strength and wits.
"Ohh it only lasts for that long?" Wayne said in a saddened voice as he lazily aimed the gun and shot him again.
Wayne walked up to Graves and stomped on his head killing him instantly.
In the meantime, Vernon was seeing everything with a disgruntled look, as he watched Graves writhe in pain and Wayne just treating him like a bother.
"Fuck this, you want me? Come get me." As he said that he let out enough poison to cover his body. While he was under the cover of his poison he lit one hand on fire and began turning it in a circle eventually making a tornado and blowing poison into the fire intertwining it. This began making the poison tornado turn an unpleasant brown color.
Wayne saw smog of poison covering the area and swallowing his body in the process.
"Shit! he better not run," Wayne said as he couldn't see Vernon anymore. He then spammed [Torrential Spikes] in the area he last saw Vernon. After a couple of seconds, he saw multiple brown tornados heading his way
"This bastard had the same idea as me," Wayne said with a chuckle. Wayne used [Shadow Void] to get out of the way of the attacks and ended up on a roof nearby where he can look down at the spot where Vernon last was.
All he saw was light being flashed in the poison and took that as a spot to aim. Wayne began spamming the same move over again and when he looked down he continued seeing the light flashing in small bursts shooting in different directions.
Vernon was sweating heavily as he dodged all the spikes that were falling down trying to impale him. All he could do was use his flame as a movement boost to dash past the spikes.
"Shit! How is he still letting these off, if he is in the same area as my poison, it should've gotten to him unless he is immune to it. " but Vernon shook his head as if that was an impossibility.
"I just need to hold out a little bit longer and he'll be dead." He stated.
But as if he spoke of his bad luck, the spikes kept raining and he grew more tired. Wayne just kept spamming, wondering how long can Vernon last.
"This guy needs to hurry up and give up, I'm starting to get tired here," Wayne said with an annoyed tone, but not long after the light show stopped. When Wayne saw it stop he summoned one more [Torrential spike] for good measure.
"Finally! This took longer than it needed to be," Wayne said, just as he was about to use [Shadow Void] and head down to give Helgor his meal he got interrupted. As he looked behind him he saw the beast gnawing on some man's top half.
"Are you serious?! Somebody hasn't come to handle this yet?" Wayne was disappointed because he was looking forward to gaining new skills but he wouldn't be able to do anything for a little while if the monster decided to head in his direction and attack him.
Wayne wanted to handle this now, he jumped off the roof and ran towards the beast, the beast didn't move until Wayne was close enough and swung his arm at lightning speed hitting Wayne to the side, sending him crashing into the nearby building.
Wayne activated [Hardened Skin] mitigating some of the damage he received.
"Okay, you wanna play like that?" Wayne said. As he used most of his remaining energy on [Death smoke] blanketing the area with the smoke. The beast was heading towards Wayne thinking it'll be another good meal. When the smoke came from Wayne the beast's lower body was engorged in smoke but didn't seem bothered until a moment later the pain started searing to the area that was in the smoke. It howled in pain as he jumped in the air where Wayne was and smashed his fist on the floor hoping that killing it would stop the pain. Little did he know Wayne moved from that location long ago and was now behind him watching him smash the ground.
Wayne seeing the result decided to use his remaining energy on [Death Smoke] and just watch the show.
The beast's legs began melting off from the smoke and he eventually collapsed, trying to hold itself up with its arms, it noticed the smoke seemed to have gotten stronger and knew its life was over. After a few moments, the beast was nothing but blood and bones.
"Vernon is going to be super refreshing," Wayne said in an exhausted tone.
Meanwhile, the person that was sent to take care of the beast was flying in the sky and can see the beast taken aback by the look of the thing. As he got closer he saw Wayne taking on the beast but lost track of him in the smoke. He hung up in the air out of vision and waited to see the outcome.
When he saw the results of the smoke melting the beast, he got an uneasy feeling as the smoke dissipated and Wayne was visible.
The figure was confused about how he ended up there as he would have past the beast on the way but he held his questions to himself as he flew down to Wayne to introduce himself.
