Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: A butterfly which doesn't fear a storm.

Ryan walked down the hallway which looked empty as none of the guests were awake. Ryan liked the silent environment as he was not being bothered and could think of things he was going to do next.

No matter how much he denied, he was nervous. He had very little information and it put him in a disadvantageous position which was very dangerous because he would have no idea what's coming his way.

He was lucky to find out about these 'traitors' with the help of his father. He was trying to reason everything that was happening but he could not get past the fact that attacking Earth was not profitable at all.

Why would someone want to attack a planet which had practically nothing to take.

Even the so-called gods of this planet don't live here but why so suddenly. If it really had something to take away then why wasn't it attacked sooner? And why does no one know what's happening? A being like Tia also has no idea about the things happening.

Ryan had many questions but near to none answers. The only clue he had was the mysterious island his father told him about.

He didn't want to enter the Ex ranked labyrinth because it would be a suicidal decision.

How will you fight your enemy if you don't know who actually is that said enemy.

Ryan was currently in the lift which was moving down to the ground floor. He was tapping his toes while pondering continuously.

He was also wondering why Tia didn't tell him about this in time. He was furious at her but he can't let his rage blind him.

"Origin huh, the first to appear. There must be a reason for it." He was only guessing things and hoped that it was a lucky guess.

"It's about time the Olympians find a way to help humans but will that help be of any use to us. They should be getting weaker as more people are starting to stop worshipping them." Ryan shook his head in disappointment.

The Olympian gods mainly used divine power and not mana because it was a more powerful source. Their power increased as humans on Earth worshipped them.

Ryan's time control power was also fuelled by divine power which he lacked. He only had a tiny bit of it by the admirers he had and his family and friends. His power was derived from the titan which could control time but that guy was trapped in a prison.

He can use those flames to create shapes and move them according to his will but if he tries to use them he usually runs out of power in a mere minute.

He treats his Chronokinetic flames like a trump card. Tia tried to change the source of these flames but they are bound strongly to his body and any mishaps can lead to severe consequences.

During his second decade in the pocket dimension he tried very hard to turn time on living beings and was successful at doing it after a lot of training.

He can use the Chronokinetic flames only once a week and after that one use, the flames become like normal flames that just burn.

There was one more thing that he tried really hard to achieve but failed every single time. In the end he had to conclude that he didn't have it in the first place.

This thing was none other than his dragon form. The most powerful form of a dragon but didn't have it. He can harness his powers to a limit but that's it. They just give a power boost which wears off after some time.

Not that we are talking about his powers, we can't forget his soul weapon, Umbra. She was also stuck at a bottleneck. She could not gain the ability to turn into any beast other than normal wild animals on Earth, let alone a mythical beast like a dragon.

He at first thought that he was a hero that can easily gain power but even that was not true because even a little bit of increase in power came along with pain that got worse every time.

People like Elijah and that guy Elliot can easily breakthrough to a higher rank while Ryan had to try hard to get a little bit of power and shit ton of pain.

Not worth it no matter how much you look at it. Everyone he knows can turn into literal gods if they trained like him but he can't.

"Ryan, it's not your fault, don't blame yourself." Umbra woke up from Ryan's negative thoughts and tried to motivate him.

"I know, but this is becoming really hard for me. I even lost my human self for this but I got barely anything in return." Ryan sighed in disappointment while he replied to Umbra through their mind link.

The Elevator door opened and Ryan came out of it, still deep in his thoughts as he took a card from his wallet and gave it to the receptionist.

This card was delivered to him by Albert as he knew Ryan would require money for various things. The world might have changed but money still remains in a supreme position.

"Sir, you are provided a discount of 45% by the manager as he wishes to have a stable relationship with you." The receptionist was a man who probably worked during the night.

"Ok." Ryan took his card and left at a slow pace.

Cold gusts of wind came crashing at him as he looked at the dark sky. Tendrils of lightning appear once in a while followed by the crackling sound of thunder.

Suddenly a glowing blue butterfly appeared out of nowhere and sat on Ryan's nose. Faint waves of blue light emitted from the butterfly as it looked unhindered by the weather. Not having even a slight bit of fear in it. Slowly flapping its wings.

"Little guy, are you not scared of Rain?" Ryan brought his finger bear his nose and the butterfly slowly moved towards his raised finger.

"What exactly are you?" Ryan asked the butterfly but it just remained still.

"Is it because you don't fear it?" Ryan asked the mystical butterfly.

The butterfly flapped its wings twice in reply.

"Then, is it because you can't change the outcome even if you took shelter?" Ryan asked the butterfly again.

The butterfly quickly flapped its wings twice replying to what Ryan asked.

"Do you think that worrying about the outcome is useless and I should face everything without any worry, just like you?"

The butterfly flapped its wings one time agreeing with Ryan.

"You are really weird, I never saw you guys flying around during the night. Do you like the night?" Ryan lightly nudged the blue butterfly.

The butterfly flew off while dancing happily.

"No reply huh, was that a female or male?" Ryan pondered for a second and he remembered that the blue butterfly had thick black veins on its wings.

"Probably a female." Ryan said and he dodged the dagger that came at his neck by simply stepping at the side.

"Chill guys, I am not running anywhere. You really know how to ruin the moment." Ryan said with a disgusted expression on his face.

"One, two, three, four...fifty. Woah, that's quite a number." Ryan said while laughing because the masked attackers were trying to kill him without even stopping to listen to what he said.

Two of the attackers came forward and attacked Ryan from the front and behind at the same time. Ryan immediately slammed his elbow on the attacker that came from behind and used the remaining kinetic force to slam his fist ahead to punch the attacker's face.

Both of them were screaming while holding their faces.

Ryan immediately grabbed both of their necks and dodged the sword coming straight at his chest. He jumped and landed on the sword as he crushed the first two attackers' necks.

Blood splattered on the road as Ryan broke the piece of sword and shoved it Inside the attacker's face. The broken piece of sword penetrated his head with a swish sound.

"Jump all at once." He heard a feminine voice commanding the squadron of attackers to attack him all together.

"Boring." Ryan said as blue flames came out of his hand and burned the woman to crisp.

"Why are you stopping? Continue, I don't have all night to waste." Ryan weirdly looked at the masked people while he simply started to brutally murder each person at a time.

Heel to the jaw, kick to the chest, fist to the throat and finally squeeze to the neck. Ryan repeated this pattern on everyone that came to kill him.

One by one the numbers started thinning. Ryan felt disappointed that the fight had to end. He killed one last guy by tearing off his body in half. He threw the two halves in two different directions.

"Now we just have you, why don't you answer who paid you to attack me?" Ryan asked with a cold expression on his face.

"I don't know, it was done anonymously." The masked man crouched down on the ground and started crying.

"You are useless." Ryan set the last one on fire. The blue flames quickly burned the masked man before extinguishing immediately.

"I wonder why people can't stay in peace." Ryan said while he conjured a wind bow and shot an arrow conjured with the help of lightning element. The arrow crackled continuously until it reached its target.

The arrow actually hit a woman who was on the roof of Orbit. Who else can it be other than the S rank Blacksmith's daughter.

Her body burst into pieces of meat and bones as soon as the lighting arrow pierced her body.

"Eliminate anyone who might cause trouble in future. If there's smoke then there ought to be fire." Tia's words echoed in Ryan's mind as the wind bow dissipated from Ryan's hand.

Ryan looked around and saw the place looked like some old school slaughter house. He immediately burned it all until only ashes were left.

"They can use a broom to clear it." Ryan flew off with a slight smile on his face.

In one of the rooms of the Orbit club. A man was wearing a night robe while he sat on the bed shaking even though the room was warm. He was none other than the manager who saw all of the slaughter because it was not far away from the club.

"He shows no mercy, he's not a guardian, he's a straight up killer." His voice was shaky as he could feel that his neck was being grabbed by Ryan.

He gulped in horror as he never saw a human so ruthless but he was also glad that a person like appeared.

When meeting Ryan, people have different opinions on him. Some say he's really kind and charismatic. Some start hating him immediately while others that see him killing, even fear talking in front of him.

The manager was from the last type of person mentioned.

He took out his phone and called the person responsible for maintaining security.

"Hello!" A feminine voice came from the other side.

"Liz, I want you to focus all the security on VIP room 1, make sure not even a single fly comes near that room." He said while clearing his throat.

"Why so suddenly? They are S ranked individuals, they don't need protection." Liz was confused why her boss would give such an order.

"Just do it, don't ask questions." The manager urged her to listen to him.

"Okay." Liz said and disconnected the call.

The manager didn't want any bad blood between him and Ryan.

"They don't need protection, but I don't want my head to turn into a pile of meat." He said while he wiped off the sweat on his forehead with a handkerchief.
