She closed her eyes and rummaged through her memories until she found a specific memory where she was walking around Vegas during the night. She found the lights really fascinating even though half of the place was destroyed. This was around the time guardians started to get a good grasp of their situation.
Even at that time she was confused why everything just seems to happen without even a single hint or warning. This was something that scared her.
Her head was covered by her white cloak as she kept walking to find any remaining monsters around the outskirts of the city.
Suddenly she heard a feminine voice calling her from behind. She ignored it thinking it might not be her that woman was calling.
"Hey kid, what are you doing here?" The woman called out again but this time she was sure that woman was calling her.
Mika turned around and saw a woman with glowing purple eyes and beside her was an undead which looked really weak and didn't have arms.
'She's a necromancer. Surprising.' Mika thought while looking at her with a cute expression. She was glad that she chose to be in the form of a 10yr old kid.
"I am lost." Mika said as she started sobbing like an actual kid.
"You should not roam in dark places." The woman said while she cancelled the summoning of the skeleton. The skeleton turned to dust when she stopped supplying mana to it.
"Where are your parents?" The woman asked in a gentle tone so that she wouldn't scare the 'kid'.
"They are at home." Mika put down her hood and revealed her blonde hair and crimson red eyes.
"What's your name, big sister?" Mika asked while wiping her tears.
"Me? You can call me Olivia." The woman said with a gentle smile.
Olivia approached Mika and crouched down to reach her eye level. Olivia looked at Mika's round crimson eyes which looked cute. Mika's kid form was actually too short for a 10 yr old. She looked like a living doll.
"Nice name, big sister." Mika said with a cheerful smile.
"You think so? Thank you! Why don't you introduce yourself to me now?" Olivia poked Mika's nose lightly.
Mika lowered her head in embarrassment and said "I am embarrassed to say my name."
"A young lady like you should not be embarrassed to introduce herself." Olivia picked her up and proceeded to carry her in her arms.
"What's your name? Little angel." Olivia started walking with her because it was not safe for a kid to be in the alleys during the night.
"Mika." Mika said while she lowered her head again as she was blushing.
"Aww…so cute." Olivia pulled her left cheek to tease Mika.
Mika's cheeks started swelling up because she started pouting. She looked like a squirrel with a mouthful of peanuts. Even someone as cold hearted as Olivia can't resist her charm.
"Mika, why did you come out alone?" Olivia asked in a serious tone as she started blaming her parents for not paying enough attention to her whereabouts.
"I wanted to buy an ice cream but I got lost." Mika said while she tilted her head slightly to take a good look at Olivia's face. Olivia's purple eyes turned back to their natural and deep oceanic blue colour.
"How about I buy you an ice cream?" Olivia asked cheerfully.
"No, mom said I should not take stuff from strangers." Mika said in an innocent tone which can stab a human's heart again and again.
"You called me big sister right?" Olivia said.
"It's because big sister is big sister." Mika nodded.
"Then I am not a stranger." Olivia chuckled lightly.
"But-" Mika tried to say something but she was interrupted.
"Don't worry I'll take you to a big shop. Then you won't have to worry about me being a weird person." Olivia said with a slight smile.
"Ok." Mika said as Olivia and her left the alley and saw city lights that didn't seem to dim after such a hazard.
Olivia took Mika to a nice ice cream parlour which was also a bit broken but overall it was in working condition. The owner was very lucky, unlike many others.
When they entered they saw a few people sitting with gloomy expressions while their kids were happy to eat ice-cream but those parents were happy that their kids were alive.
"Which flavour do you want Mika?" Olivia asked Mika who carefully scanned every notable information from the place before saying she wanted a watermelon flavoured ice cream.
The parlour owner was not in a good mood as he was scared like everyone. Things might have gotten in control for now but how long till everything goes to ruin again. He quickly 4 scoops of watermelon flavoured ice cream and put it in a bowl and handed it to Olivia whose eyes turned cold again.
The owner of the place felt scared even though he knew Olivia wouldn't harm him. It was the instinctive fear of Guardians who are very different from humans now.
To humans guardians were people that saved them but the fact that they were different still scared them. This will continue for a few months until they adjust with the new world.
The owner bowed slightly to avoid eye contact without looking disrespectful towards her.
Olivia just ignored him and paid him for the icecream which was around $10. She had to pay in cash because banks were closed and their servers were out of service.
She went back to the table where Mika was sitting and put the ice cream bowl before her.
Mika's eyes turned shiny and she giggled like a normal kid but then she took out two $5 bills and brought her hand forward to give it to Olivia but she immediately declined taking money from a kid.
Olivia calmly watched Mika as she cheerfully ate the ice cream.
'Such irresponsible parents. They don't deserve a cute kid like her.' Olivia inwardly cursed Mika's parents.
Mika put the spoonful of ice cream in her mouth and looked at Olivia with her glossy round eyes. Mika's other hand was below the table as she made a firm fist with it. There was a small slug like being which tried to escape but Mika killed it in an instant.
Mika talked with Olivia happily but had to lie a few times to not blow her cover. She was extremely careful so that she didn't release any unnecessary information. Mika realised that Olivia was actually a really kind woman but usually acted cold towards others because she finds it hard to trust them.
"Big sister, do you have a boyfriend?" It was now Mika's turn to tease her.
"I don't have one." Olivia said with a calm expression on her face.
"Eh, but mom said adults have people they really love." Mika tilted her head slightly to the right innocently.
"Most do, but I like to enjoy being alone. You'll understand when you grow up." Olivia patted the kid's head gently.
Mika didn't ask anything after that as she quickly looked around again to find anything suspicious but unfortunately even her vampiric eyes couldn't find anything wrong. She was trying to find any similar slugs but there were none.
'Ah I shouldn't have killed it.' She regretted killing the slug but it was so disgusting. She actually found that slug on Olivia's shoulder and found it interesting and picked it for herself but it was too slippery and wanted to escape so she had to kill it unfortunately.
'Was it a new life form born on this planet? Must be right? But it looked really disgusting.' Mika thought while she wiped her hand with the table cloth which had a black spot on it.
"Did you like it Mika?" Olivia wiped Mika's face with her handkerchief after she finished her ice cream.
"That was really delicious." Mika giggled while she gave a thumbs up to the shop owner who instinctively bowed again.
'Why the hell am I bowing to a kid?' The man questioned inwardly because bowing is not something he does on a daily basis.
Even Olivia was surprised by the parlour owner's reaction. Bowing to someone was almost unseen in America, in reality it was a really weird thing to do. It was just not part of the culture.
'Well it's not like I care about humans.' Mika immediately lost interest and didn't bother with his weird behaviour.
"Big sister, can you call Mr skeleton again?" Mika asked with her puppy eyes.
"You want to see it again? I thought you got scared when you saw it." Olivia raised an eyebrow as she didn't expect a request like this from Mika.
"No, you looked really cool when it was with you." Mika shook her head while her face had a wholesome smile.
"You don't find me cool without it?" Olivia pretended to wipe a non-existent tear with a sad expression.
'Woman please, I am not getting fooled by it.' Mika thought as she shook her head again.
"You don't find me cool?" Olivia saw Mika shaking her head and decided to tease Mika some more.
'Heh…..kid you think you can play with me?' Mika thought.
Mika's eyes teared up and she started crying.
Ultimate move which can defeat countless humans but not Olivia who quickly threw her a bait and summoned her skeleton soldier and a small firefly which was also an undead. The firefly glowed with bright purple light.
'So two is her limit.' Mika saw that Olivia's face got sweaty proving what she was thinking.
Necromancers are actually a very rare class and have an even lesser chance to achieve the greater potential their class holds. In old books from Mika's world she read a few lines about it which gave a very vague explanation about this higher form of necromancers. Vampires have very limited information about it because only one person was known to achieve the higher form but he lost it soon after. Never to see it again.
That man was actually a vampire who was obsessed with dead bodies and somehow found a way to achieve the higher self of necromancers but had to die because his body couldn't support such power. After that no matter how much a necromancer tried to replicate his research they always failed and died.
'Such a pity, a young girl like her can't achieve it even though she has time.' Mika was disappointed that such a talent will be wasted on a weak planet.
Mika was not wrong because Earth could not support a good necromancer because the mana quality and amount here is worse than new planets.
This was a mystery to everyone who knows about Earth. Despite being a planet which raised many heroes it cannot increase its mana level.
That means if Earth's mana doesn't increase it will have the same bottle neck forever. The current limit is Ex rank, you can't go any further because the planet will use everything it has to stop you from breaking the law.
Mika decided to end this meeting as she didn't find anything more interesting from Olivia and she still needed to find a way to leave this world.
Olivia felt that Mika wanted to go home from the way she was fidgeting and looking towards the exit.
"Want to go home?" Olivia asked with her chin resting on her hands.
Mika didn't say anything and nodded a few times with a nervous look on her face.
"Will you be able to go home alone?" Olivia asked as she knew that Mika might insist on going back alone.
"Yes." Mika simply said with a cute smile on her face.
"As you wish." Olivia said while she wiped Mika's face which was smeared with ice cream.
She then picked her up and walked out of the ice cream parlour. People who were sitting in the parlour sighed in relief as they left.
"Thank god she left, I would have died from nervousness if she stayed any longer." A woman who looked to be in her early 20s said in a low tone.
"Hey keep quiet, People like her can hear it even if you whisper." A man quickly asked the woman to watch what she says because people who awakened got a boost in their 5 senses.
The woman quickly covered her mouth with her hands as soon as she realised what the man said was true.
People were envious and scared of the awakened but also thankful to them for saving their lives. Being scared of the unknown is human nature After All.
People get scared of small dolls in the dark, let alone awakened people who can shatter bones with just a punch. Awakened didn't get the title of 'Guardians' at this point and it would not be for another 3 months.
