Chapter 13 - The Test (2)

When everyone saw the results, they looked at John with pity.

Although a D grade talent wasn't bad, it was just that; not bad. Even worse is that Alfred was on the lower spectrum of the D grade. For someone of such a background to only open 38 energy channels was indeed quite poor.

Although the amount of energy channels opened has no direct relationship to background, they still share a connection. As mentioned before, early training of the body can increase the body's receptivity to Origin Qi. Then what about high-grade resources? Proper training facilities and the like? Does Alfred lack any of these?

Judging by his talent, if he trained properly then Alfred opening 50-60 energy channels would still be in the realm of possibilities. Although it would be at best a low C grade aptitude, it would still be better than a measly 38 channels.

Of the 30+ people present, some were disappointed, some gloated secretly and some sneered openly. Of course with John present, none dared openly mock Alfred. They could only keep their opinions to themselves.

Well, there will always be exceptions.

"Tsk tsk. I say, John, is this brat really your kid? How is it possible that the great 'Blood Marshall' have such a disappointing kid? Don't you know that a lion father can't have a dog son?" A grating voice came through a wrist communicator that was on the highest possible volume.

John frowned deeply. He turned to the operator with the opened com-link with a dark look on his face.

The operator held his hands up while fixing his glasses with a smug look plastered all over his face. Looking at john's dark face, he shrugged. He didn't care at all. It's not like John could kill him right? Doesn't he also have backers? If John attacked him then it would be even better.

"Throw him out!" John said coldly.

Three stage 4 King Realm Captains grabbed him immediately.

"Unhand me! I can walk myself!" He cried out.

Not giving the operator a chance to say, do or grab anything, they hauled him out and got into a hovercar. All this time the opponent on the com-link kept throwing insults and sarcastic comments trying to rile John up even more.

John was furious but he didn't entertain the loser. He had long forgotten this bitter love rival decades ago.

'To think that loser would still be such a loser after so many years. And to waste such a well-planted pawn on such a trivial matter. Truly a loser. At least he did me a favour.'

John laughed sinisterly.

'Giving me such a good excuse for spring cleaning. I should really thank him.'

Thinking such, he left the room and made a few phone calls without wasting any time.

...

When John returned to the room with a calm countenance, some people shivered. They could imagine the bloodshed that would follow in the coming days.

...

Oblivious to the recent events, Alfred got up and looked at the floating results. He wasn't bothered in the least. Why should he be worried? Didn't the system already say he has a high superpower talent? What does "high talent" mean when coming from such an existence? His only concern was on how to survive the next 10 years under his father's watchful eyes.

"Continue." John simply said.

...

One of the doctors pulled Alfred to a chair and had him sit down. A nurse came over and pricked his left index finger and collected a small vial of blood before returning to a hematology analyzer to have his blood combed for Anima.

During the first awakening, the body resonates with Origin Qi to open the energy channels. During that brief moment of Awakening, some of the ambient Origin Qi may be absorbed by the body temporarily. Because the Dantian is still closed, the Origin Qi has nowhere to go and will either dissipate or fuse with the blood vessels around the heart. The more Origin Qi absorbed during this exceptionally short process, the higher the innate superpower talent of the individual. The fusion of Origin Qi and blood vessels during this time gives birth to Anima.

And it's the concentration of this Anima that will determine the level of talent the child will possess at the second awakening in 10 years.

Usually, anyone with an Anima concentration of less than 1% will never be able to awaken a superpower. Because with such a low percentage, the Anima will gradually dissipate from around the heart as there simply is not enough to hold together.

Those with Anima of 1-2% are A-grade talents and will generally wield 3-5 abilities of an element. Because the Anima concentration is still so low, it's impossible for them to wield partial elements and can only settle for sub-elements aka the weakened version of partial elements.

S grade talents will have on average 2-3% Anima concentration which allows them partial control of an element and allows them up to 10 abilities.

SS grade talents have 3-4% Anima concentration and can wield an entire element granting them access to all the abilities present in that element.

Of course, there are differences even between geniuses.

For example in this case.

The nurse was shocked. She could only look to the doctor for help and support.

What did she see?

The doctor was curious and hurried over. He took a look at the hermatology analyzer and fell speechless. He looked at John like he was looking at a monster.

John's heart skipped a beat. 'Don't tell me that this brat doesn't even have any superpower talent either?' If that's the case it would be truly humiliating. Not being able to help himself and not wanting to look like a clown again, John went to check personally.

Janine followed close behind him, wanting to see for herself and ease her worries.

...

After seeing the results, Janine sighed in relief and gave Alfred 2 thumbs up. While John burst out laughing. Venting his feelings.

While the loser didn't bother him one bit, the whole affair still soured his mood and left a bad taste in his mouth. Now he could finally let it go.

So what if his son's martial arts talent is mediocre? Does any of that matter anymore? With superpower talent like this, who can call his son a dog anymore?

SS grade talent!

Not 1!

Not 2!

But 3 SS grade talents!

How could he not be happy? How could he not be boisterous?

"HAHAHAHAHA!"

"Display it! Display it!"

"HAHAHAHA!"

John was just too excited. His wife's hologram next to him was shedding tears of joy. Even Xavier was smiling from ear to ear. Hearing a random stranger calling his brother a dog and taunting his parents, how could he not be upset? If his blood brother was a dog, then what wouldn't that make himself? Seeing his brother slap some faces, he would naturally be excited too. As for being beaten up by Alfred again? That was naturally impossible!

He would break through in at most 2 years while Alfred's second awakening is 10 years away! Doesn't he have a whole 10 years to collect the inflated interest on his earlier investment? How exciting! Double excitement! His eyes twinkled while sizing up Alfred.

...

Alfred smiled while looking at his father and mother proudly. Although the earlier event flew over his head, it was still nice to see his usually stoic father lose himself in such a manner. As for Xavier's thoughts? He could naturally tell what he was thinking based on how he was sizing up himself like a trussed-up chicken, wondering where he should start. But what do such thoughts have to do with him? He could only shake his head inwardly and say sorry to the misguided fellow!
