"Hehehe!"
John was still excited by the good news.
"Doctor June, what are the superpowers that my Alfred will awaken? Do tell" John shamelessly started calling him as if they were ever close.
Hearing his shamelessness, Alfred, Lisa and Janine rolled their eyes, while Xavier acted mute.
Noticing their actions, John blushed a little. Although he was almighty in his domain, it was indeed a bit embarrassing to act with such a thick face in front of so many people.
"Doctor June, please," John hurried him.
As someone with almost zero EQ, Doctor June naturally was busy with his work and started to cross-examine the results carefully.
"The first is without a doubt the darkness element. As for the first superpower in that series he will unlock, there is no way to tell." Doctor June was certain.
John nodded knowingly. "Kid you really have a dark heart. Only those with devious intentions will have such a superpower, and for it to be SS ranked..." John shook his head.
Xavier nodded seriously. "I have been a victim of this dark heart."
Janine also chimed in, "gluttony is also a serious problem. His darkness might manifest in an all-engulfing greed in the future. We best put him under serious observation."
'That's my queue!'
John grinned widely. "Don't worry, after this is over, I will take him for some training. I'll guide him properly."
"..."
Lisa wanted to stop the farce. Unfortunately, everything had already been said. It was impossible to stop a runaway train with one hand. She could only look at Alfred with pity.
Alfred naturally knew where their farce was leading up to, but right now he was actually eager to be kidnapped.
If it was him before the awakening of his system, he would be dreading going anywhere near his father. But now? Wasn't this the perfect time to grind exp? How else would he leave Cote de Myr if he wasn't kidnapped out? Bring on the kidnapping! Challenge accepted!
...
Doctor June continued observing for a while, then looked at Alfred with shock in his eyes.
"G-Gravity... it's Gravity control!"
"Wow! When was the last time someone awakened gravity control?"
"Isn't that one of the five supreme elements?"
"..."
Chatter! Chatter! Chatter!
The peanut gallery was going wild.
Xavier gulped.
John and the other two looked at eachother in shock as well.
What did it mean to have one of the five supreme elements? It means that one could trample on anyone in the same realm, and possibly skip realms to fight. Skipping ranks to fight wasn't a big deal, since each realm had seven ranks.
Ranks 1-3 are considered the initial phase of any realm, while ranks 4-6 are in the late phase of their realm. As rank 7 is the last phase of a realm, it's considered the peak, only one step away from advancing to the next realm.
But for someone to skip realms and defeat others is very difficult. So one can tell how important such an element is by its potential.
...
John squinted his eyes and tapped on his watch a few times.
Suddenly, the room went into lockdown. As the master of the mansion, putting the entire mansion in lockdown was a trivial matter let alone this one room. Even Lisa's figure immediately faded from the room, which meant that john's com-link was also disconnected.
The others weren't fools. The commander-class individuals gradually spread out and encircled everyone else, awaiting orders from their Marshall.
...
John walked towards the door calmly and stood before it. He looked at the thirty-plus people in the room seriously. Seeing that he had their undivided attention, he said "everyone, I don't need to explain how serious this matter is. So, for our safety and yours, I can only ask you to wait for a few minutes."
John looked at Alfred, Xavier and Janine and waved them over. Xavier was confused, but Alfred and Janine hurriedly rushed towards the closed door. When they got next to him, John looked at the others and said "don't worry, if you're all clean then there'll be no problems." Saying that he took the trio and left the room before locking it again.
...
Forty-seven minutes later, the four returned carrying a few boxes.
During that time, John made non-stop calls to various departments and friends. He had to ensure that everyone was completely clean. Take that earlier spy for example, wasn't he a classic case of one fly being in the ointment? After such an incident, how could he not sweep these 34 people with a fine-tooth comb?
John walked in and smiled.
"Everyone, I have good news. You're all clean."
The others let out sighs of relief. Although they were confident in their background and conduct, it was still hard to not be worried. As mild as he was, John wasn't called the Blood Marshall for no reason. As a Battle Mage with the blood element superpower, he was naturally strongest when near rivers of blood. So who would dare say his hands were clean?
"But, we still have a few things to do before you can be dismissed today," he added.
Nobody said anything. It's to be expected that just combing their backgrounds wasn't enough. What about the future?
And just as expected.
"You all need to sign these NDA's. Also, please hand over your old com-link, I went out of my way to get you all presents." He smiled.
'Shameless!' They could only curse inwardly.
"Come now, don't worry. These will only be effective until Alfred has his second awakening. It's only 10 years."
They wanted to complain after hearing his 10-year monitoring plan, but who would listen to them? Was it even worth it to complain? Even if it did something, wouldn't it only be a negative effect for them?
Thus, they could only silently hand over their old com-link and take up the bug.
'Better than being locked up for 10 years for nothing I guess.' They could only comfort themselves inwardly.
'Coming here today was indeed a huge mistake!'
...
Having finished his business with the peanut gallery, John immediately dismissed them. The previous matter was problematic enough, so who knew what the next one would be?
John walked over to Doctor June and asked, "how's the next one?"
While the assistants weren't monitored too strictly, the same couldn't be said about the doctors and nurses. As their jobs dealt specifically with the health of his family and everyone on Cote de Myr, they naturally already had their backgrounds swept through and their rigorous contracts signed a long time ago. So there would be zero trust issues at a time like this.
Doctor June frowned and shook his head.
"It's not on the database of the Republic or any of our allies. It's also never been mentioned in history." He could only helplessly sigh, "you'll have to wait until his next awakening to see exactly what it is."
John was taken aback. "Could it be the evil element?"
"No, I've already seen the evil element. Their properties are different. It's a completely unknown element, it will possibly push our research into superpower awakening into new heights!" Doctor June was getting excited.
Slap!
"Don't even think about it. Calm your tits." John gave him a slap across his bald head.
