Chapter 5 - Lost Girl

"Hey! Calm down, what are you doing!" Alev moved his feet away from the girl, "Are you someone who survived my village?" He said, while pouting his lip, feeling annoyed.

The girl was still sobbing with her teary eyes, and the girl answered by nodding her head as she looked back up at Alev's face.

"Why are you quietly hiding here?" Said Alev while helping him up.

The girl wiped her tears with an innocent face looking at Alev, "scary sound, spooky forest." Said the girl answered messily.

Alev started to frown, not understanding what he was saying, "easy! Speak slowly, what's your name?" Said Alev while his left hands showed his palms asking him to calm down.

The girl noticed Alev who looked so relaxed and not terrified while in response, seeing him like that made the girl slap her cheek with both hands trying to calm herself, even making her cheeks look red from that clapping.

Then she took a deep breath and exhale it to make her more relaxed, "my name is Tina, that creepy voice scared me to death hearing it, why do you look fearless in this forest?" Said the girl with short black hair who introduced herself as Tina.

Alev watched her face look surprised, "Scared? What's going on in this forest?" Said Alev tilting his head while his eyes look like a little dot looking at her in confusion.

Tina lifted her head to look around her, and she quickly looked down again while pulling Alev to follow her, hiding behind the bushes and making Alev surprised because he didn't expect him to pull his hand suddenly like that.

"You don't know this forest? Isn't the village you mean your village, a rombel village?" Tina started to frown when she looked closely at Alev and Tina quickly patted Alev's cheek looking at his face.

"Wait, I know you. You're the kid who always practices with the wooden sword in your yard, right? Tina said again to confirm it.

"Chan yo lep me gow," Alev said with an unclear voice because Tina's hand clamp it too strong and with a strange gaze, he tried to remove Tina's hand that was holding his cheek like that.

Tina quickly pulled her hand away from Alev's hand that was touching her, she lowered her head and closed her eyes, regretting doing that.

While stroking his own cheek, Alev noticed that Tina's dress looked so dirty covered with black marks from fire smoke and charcoal ash made Alev believe that the girl was from his own village that already burned down.

"Yes, that's me. I really don't know anything about this forest, so I don't understand what you're afraid of about this forest, and why do we have to hide like this in the bush?" Said Alev who was starting to look annoyed saying that.

Tina looked back into Alev's eyes and looked at him in surprise, "So you haven't heard of the story of the enchanting forest in Rombel village?" Tina said, while holding up her index finger as she said that.

Hearing that made Alev silent watching Tina, and started to frown looking confused.

"The enchantment forest? What's the story like?" Alev said, squinting at him.

Tina glanced around her, and brought her face closer to Alev with her finger still holding up at Alev, "Listen! This is a story passed down from generation to generation in Rombel village if, in fact, this forest will live at sunset."

"Once upon a time, there was a messenger who was in a hurry to deliver a message to the town of Hinge, and he passed through this enchanting forest when it was dark. While he was in the forest, everything seemed fine."

"However, suddenly he lost his way in the darkness of the forest and saw no trace of the path he was on, and as soon as he was there a thin mist appeared and made the air around him turn cold, for a moment, he felt the loss, and suddenly he heard the noise of the crowd in this forest."

"The voice was so loud that the courier felt himself in the middle of the market crowd, and the courier saw a shadow moving towards him, the shadow looked so big like a tree in this forest, the courier was so surprised, but he didn't have time to run, because the shadow tugged at his feet and carried him deeper into the dark mist, the end," Tina said with a sigh when ending the story.

Alev who was listening to that just scratched the back of his head and yawned slightly as he watched her now pouted her lip with sullen-looking at him.

"What?" Alev exclaimed, "the story only aims to scare the children from playing in the forest in the dark!" He said with a bored look on his face while scratching his neck.

"But the story is real, don't you see that thin mist that appears? And also that terrible sound?" She replied with a scared look on her face while hugging herself.

Alev shook his head, hearing what she said, "it's a forest! The sound might have come from the wolves and the thin mist, I guess that's only natural since it's the middle of autumn."

As soon as he rebuffed her, he quickly got up out of the bushes and walked away from Tina.

"Hey! Where are you going? You haven't even told me your name yet?" Said Tina, who also stood up as she looked at Alev with a sullen face.

Alev turned to him, he saw her pouting like that, made her look like a puffer fish who rounded her cheeks like that.

"Sigh" Alev sighed.

He's downing his head as he turned back to face Tina, "My name is Alev, nice to meet you. If you want to stay hidden there, that's fine, but I'll find a way out of this forest into the city." Said Alev while rolling his eyes, feeling irritated.

Seeing her seem silent with her eyes glancing around the forest like that made Alev turn around and continue looking for a way out of the forest.

Tina was surprised to see him leaving, quickly she ran drew closer to him, "Wait! Do you know the way to the city? Wouldn't it be better to wait for the adults to save us?" Tina said with an innocent face while pulling Alev's hand to prevent him from leaving.

Turning back to him, Alev quickly responded, "don't you see how many adults think of themselves to save their lives? Don't you use your eyes to see what's happening in that villageā€¦" Alev replied as he pulled his hand away from Tina.

"But!" Said Tina suddenly interrupting, but Alev seemed doesn't care and still continued his sentence.

"Even seeing you hiding there, doesn't that mean your parents left you there when they fled from the village?" He said sarcastically to her.

Tina couldn't help and with her hands touching her chest, Tina watched Alev move away from her for a moment she quipped like that, her tears slowly flowing, and she quickly grabbed a small stone and threw it at Alev's head.

"Aw!" Alev screamed as the stone perfectly hit his head.

Alev scratched the back of his head, feeling the pain from the throw, and turned to her. "What are you throwing? It hurts my head!?" Said Alev silent for a moment looking at Tina was in tears.

"It is a lie! I just fell off the horse carriage! They didn't leave me, I'm sure they're worried right now and realized I wasn't there and started looking for me again!" Shouted Tina while bursting her tear with annoying feeling at him.

Alev walked up to him while rolling his eyes, "This is why I'm lazy to deal with small children, okay - okay can you calm down, your crying sound is bothering my ears! I'm just saying the possibility is true, if you just wait here, are you sure your parents can find you in this vast forest?"

Hearing what Alev said only made her weep even more and the sobs got louder and Alev quickly covered his ears.

Then quickly Alev grabbed her and gripped her shoulder, "Okay, how about this, imagine your parents are looking for you, and they are lost in the forest too? Do you want to make them go astray like you too and end up getting into trouble because of you?" Said Alev trying to calm her down with a serious face while he narrowed his eyes.

What he said made her slowly stop crying, she seemed to be choking back tears while those innocent eyes looked at him even though those pouty lips still stuck to her face.

"I-I don't want them to get lost too." She replied softly.

"That's what I'm doing, rather than waiting, I'd better find a way out of this forest into the city," Alev said as he slowly releases his grip and stepped back away from Tina.

Alev walked to a nearby tree, then Alev took out his knife to scrape the bark of the tree.

Alev turned to Tina, "If you still want to wait there, I don't care because it's your decision. I think my words are too harsh for you, I will just get out of this place, if I find your parents I will make sure to tell them your location." He said as he finished scraping the bark of the tree, and then he left.

What He said made Tina silent as she watched him walk away from her, she looked back at the quiet surroundings, and she quickly walked after him.

Even though Alev had said such unpleasant things, Tina seemed to be following him behind, Alev realized that, but he didn't say anything to her and just continued walking as he looked at the ground again looking for the trail.
