Chapter 9 - Lurking Shadow In The Woods

He walked for a moment when eventually he stopped by while looked something strange around the nearby trees, he is touching the tree in front of him as he noticed that there were carving marks on the tree as he had made.

'Am I going back? There's something strange happening in these woods!' He thought in his mind while started to frown looking at those marks.

Then Alev looked around, he felt like something was watching him, but he didn't feel it from Tina.

"Shrek… Shrek…"

The sound that came from the surroundings, was like the sound of something walking through the bushes. Alev turned around as his eyes scanned the surroundings.

Seeing what Alev doing made Tina feel curious to see what he was looking at while suddenly turning around like that with a serious look. Tina stopped herself by tilting her head and she looked at him in surprise.

"What happened?" Tina said, frowning in confusion.

"Shhh." Alev hissed by showing his palm to Tina, Alev asked her to stop talking.

The thin fog really bothered Alev, although he could see clearly in the dark night, his vision wasn't as strong as that to be able to penetrate the fog.

"What do you see? Can you really see clearly in the dark like this?" Tina said, with her pouty lips, grumbling to herself.

Hearing that made Alev realize that the vision was actually not normal for people in general, especially if he was held up like that by a girl who wanted to know a lot of things.

"Of course not, I kind of heard something moving from behind those trees," Alev said as his hand pointed at the shadow of a tall, huge tree in front of him.

Alev narrowed his eyes and moved his face to pay close attention to what was in front of him, from behind the thin fog he saw a shadow of two pairs of eyes staring intently at him. Those eyes seemed to quickly get closer and jump towards him.

"Down!" Shouted Alev while turned to Tina as he pulled out his knife.

Tina quickly responded and ducked as she saw something hairy jump over her, it was a wolf that attacked the two of them.

Alev restrained the wolf that was attacking him by resisting the bite using his right hand, which was protected by a twisted wooden branch, even though his broken hand felt pain from the impact.

"Why did this wolf suddenly attack!" Alev said annoyed.

Alev noticed that the wolf that bit him looked so thin that his ribs were clearly visible, making Alev realize that the wolf looked hungry.

With all his might, Alev kicked the wolf, making the animal away from him. Alev turned to Tina who was still looking down, trembling with fear, Alev quickly moved closer to her.

It was faint, but Alev felt the air temperature in the forest getting colder than before, so he could even see the smoke coming out when he breathed.

"What are you doing just standing there, don't sit around and be scared like that!" Said Alev who was on guard with his knife, glancing at Tina as he watched the two wolves pacing around them.

"Hiik!" Tina's voice shrieked with both hands protecting her head as she turned her head to see Alev who was behind her.

"Wolves are scary," Tina looked down in fear, "I can't wake up Alev my legs feel weak." Tina said, complaining about her legs that seemed to be shaking with fear like that.

Actually, there's nothing wrong with that, because it's a reaction of the human body when feeling afraid, let alone the fear that comes from predatory animals that make the animal instincts in humans realize that not to face them, it also happened to Alev who was slightly shaking. Scared, because this small body is aware that he will not be able to defeat the predatory animal.

Alev swung his knife many times, showing the wolves that he had weapons to threaten them.

"Listen to me carefully! Strengthen your mind to focus on running away from this place, think if you want to go home, and force yourself to move." Alev shouted while he was still swinging his knife, threatening the wolves that wanted to get close to him.

Tina slapped her cheeks repeatedly until her cheeks turned red from the clapping, it was difficult for Tina to try to wake herself up and stand behind Alev even though her legs still seemed to be shaking.

Alev glanced at him with a grinning smile, "Good! I think they are hungry wolves, even if we want to run away I think they will continue to chase us, but that is our only choice!" Alev said while glancing at him.

Tina nodded in understanding, hearing Alev say that to her.

"We will run with all our might!" Alev watched the hungry wolf, "now!" Shouted Alev who then ran with all his might.

The two of them ran together and made the wolf quickly start running after them.

Growl!

A voice suddenly appeared near the two of them, the roar made the two wolves run and just passed them, seeing it made them both stop their steps looking in surprise and looking back.

They both looked at the trees but felt they didn't see anything that made the wolf run, it made them both look at each other with curious faces.

Alev felt the surrounding fog seem to be getting thicker, he felt that something watching him was still there and repeatedly watched the surroundings looking alert.

Meanwhile, Tina saw the shadow of a tree from behind the fog that felt so close that she looked up to see the top, while Tina saw it grinning in fear with a trembling body as she watched the top of the tree move left and right slowly like a tree in the wind.

It's just that those are not a tree with straight trunks like pine, it is a large tree with many branches that stands in the middle of the forest with no chance that wind can move the top as a whole like that.
