Malfrid's warm hand engulfed Jade's smaller one. His grip was surprisingly warm in the cold weather that made Jade shiver.
She had underestimated how cold it could be. Especially in the southeast where it was closer to the mountains covered in heaps of snow. Even though she was wearing woolen innerwear and layered up with good clothes, she could feel the cold in her bones.
Her Alpha mate led her to his family in the southeast first. There, Bente and whoever her husband was smiled at the sight of them.
"Alpha," the man bowed his head and so did Bente. "I hope the lodging was comfortable."
Malfrid glanced at her and Jade passed him a smile. When she turned to look at the man, she noticed that Malfrid had not answered him and was still looking at her.
"Wha—Oh!" She got it now. "Yes," she turned to the man, "it was comfortable. Thank you."
