Valerie smiled, "I can't believe I'm back as well." She glanced at James and Helen, who stood side by side. "Aren't you two happy to see me fine and alive?"
"Of course we are," James answered almost immediately as he glanced at Martin, the butler who stood by the side, then at Kai, who sat right next to Valerie.
As if there was a hidden command given by him, Martin cleared his throat and walked towards the exit of the dining hall.
"Well, I think I may have to take a leave." He glanced at Valerie and continued, "I'll be back to clear the plates on the table."
"Why would I not be happy to see my former ex-fiancee?" James spoke as he watched Martin leave. He glanced at Valerie, and she could clearly remember how this man could lie without a moment of hesitation.
