Losing consciousness must have become a habit for Valerie. In just a short period, she had lost consciousness several times that anyone around her would think that she does it habitually.
Valerie opened her eyes and found herself back in the village chief's house. She got up and realized that the thin cloth sheet covering her was the blanket she used from yesterday's sleep.
As far as she could remember, she was out in the woods, trying to find the lupine flowers that Irene asked her in exchange for some food. The more she tried to remember what happened, the more the pain in her head intensified.
"You're awake!" Kai asked as he looked at her with a worried gaze, "How are you feeling Valerie?"
Valerie sat up with her hands on her head. "I'm feeling okay now," she replied with a small smile. "How did I end up back here in the village chief's house? Did something happen to me?"
