On the way back to the Romano Mansion, Luca noticed the awful silence from Juliette.
For Juliette, that car chase was soul-trembling. However, to Luca, it was a natural occasion.
When they arrived in the mansion, Juliette headed inside without waiting for Luca, and the latter immediately quickened his pace to catch up with Juliette.
In the living room, Luca couldn't take the silence anymore. He grabbed her arm to make her look at him in the face.
"Look, don't let what happened earlier get to you. I'm here to protect you. No one can hurt you when I'm around, I promise you."
Juliette sighed as if she was disappointed that Luca didn't understand what was actually troubling her.
"I'm worried for you, Luca."
Luca's muscles contracted in surprise. He felt like he was struck by lightning. It wasn't much, but it was the first time someone said they were worried for him. No one worried for him.
