Chapter 5 - tavern with food

After walking for about an hour, Alex finds himself at the doorstep of the semi run down hunters tavern, in there he finds a big room full of chairs and circle tables. To his left, a wooden bar roughly 6 meters long with metal brackets on the support beams.

The people there were all dressed somewhat like him, except for the people in robes and the others with full plate armor.

To his right there's a big bulletin board filled with paper and tacts.

In front of Alex was a table with one male orc  and one female elf both in green formal wear. This place wasn't just a tavern but a guild as well.

A guild is an organization of people who do quests for gold. This guild being in Dekkalo, it was full of hunters from all backgrounds from all races.

Alex was a little taken off guard by this being a guild, but after walking all this way he didn't feel like walking any more for a little while, so at the very least he wanted to take a break.

Alex visited guilds before with his dad on business but he has never seen one so happy and full of life.

There were roughly a hundred people there all chatting and having fun. It gave Alex hope for himself. Alex walks up to the desk and asks to become a member. The lady responds with a smile "Okay darling, that will be 5 silver pieces. Please follow me back so we can see your system window to assign your rank." He took out one gold from his pocket and gave it to the lady who promptly gave him his 5 silver change and said "Alrighty follow me darling."

The lady in green got up from her seat and took him to one of the back rooms. Alex got super anxious because of his system window but he quickly reminded himself that even if the guild declines at the last minute for any reason, he will still get his silver refunded. Also remembering how he felt when he entered the building and how he entered Dekkalo he smiled thinking to himself, "I'm sure it will be fine if these people are accepting".

When Alex and the lady got to the back room, there was a stone statue that came up to his waist with what appeared to be runes on it.

Runes are on items that didn't come from ruins and are man made.

Once he got there, the lady instructed him to place his finger at the top of the pyramid monolith in the center atop the pillar. Alex did so and he felt a small poke on his index finger and 3 drops of blood came out. Once the drops touched the pyramid they quickly multiplied into a massive amount of blood that covered the pyramid. Then they laid a paper over the side of the pyramid and, stained with his blood, read his stats.

Weapon, shield, and armor skills are the easiest to increase and Alex was trained to have at least some of the early trainable skills.

The lady was on the verge of laughing at how pitiful his abilities were. But unknown to Alex, the guild has to accept anyone who pays the fee. The lady suppresses the laughter and hands him an F- card as well as the paperwork he got from the monolith.

Alex, who was a little embarrassed, happily accepted the card and paper work because he thought he was going to get rejected. Excitedly, even though he is the absolute lowest rank, he sits at the bar and orders water and the cheapest thing they have as breakfast. The cost was only 5 silver and he used the change for purchasing the membership which left Alex with 49 gold prices.

That meal would normally cost 7 silvers but because he joined he got a slight discount.

While eating, someone tries to stick up a conversation with him, and Alex, being the shy person he is, was startled and he asked the guy curiously, "Who are you?" The guy replies with pride, "I'm Ethan an E rank hunter! And who might you be?"

Alex had some opinions forming in his mind about him and decided to just be honest and say "Hi, I'm Alex, rank F." The guy chuckled and walked away. Little did Alex know he was the lowest rank there and Ethan just wanted to see what rank the newbie was.

Alex felt his ego drop a few levels after all, until a few days ago, he was the son of a noble and everyone wanted to help him out, in exchange for favors and his parents' gold. Thoughts popped in his mind "That brat, he should know who he's talking to."

These thoughts went as fast as they came after Alex regained himself. He finished his meal and didn't even bother with the bulletin board and left the door.
