Alex already knew what he wanted and needed to do.
The most an F bounty can pay is 2 gold. Even the lowest quality items from ruins pay 1 gold and on average people come back with at least seven items.
Alex was quick to assess the situation and weigh the pros and cons. To Alex, doing ruin runs was still the best option especially since most of them don't check people's stats.
With all that being said Alex still needed food for his journey. He walked throughout Dekkalo and looked at all the shops. He found one that looked decent enough. The food was cheap, almost too cheap but nevertheless Alex tried one. It was almost bad but he couldn't comfortably call it bad.
It was dried meat but Alex did not know what type, it could use salt but that was about it. The taste was bland, the texture was tough, almost like the professional made jerky he had all the time at home. That thought gave Alex comfort but also made him sad about what he lost.
He bought 10 for 1 gold and well he definitely wasn't upset with the purchase because the name brand adventuring food cost 10 times the price for half as much for the jerky.
Alex left the city following a dirt road to the nearest ruin. Ruins end up being somewhat close to each other so it wasn't difficult for him to find one. The ruin was on the easiest difficulty and it was only a low level slime ruin.
He entered the ruin to find a room, made of stone tiles. On one wall was a map of the known ruin. People explore a little bit in every safe zone. Commonly, people could find maps about the area around the safe zone from other adventures who mapped it out before them.
Being a low level ruin it had about a kilometer in every direction mapped out to a T with the average number, level, as well as the type of enemies, which for this ruin, was mainly just slimes, giving it the name slime ruin.
Alex closely investigated the map, all he wanted to do was a quick simple ruin run, get in, go to boss room, defeat the boss, go to the treasure room, and then take what he is able to carry then leave. It is a straightforward method and although basic for what Alex wanted to do, it was the most effective.
Alex wanted to do this ruin run for a few reasons. First, he wanted to see if he could do It. Second, he wanted to see how much gold he could make from this. Third, he needed to get a good grasp of his capabilities.
Alex was great when it comes to hard work. Alex was born with a talent that wasn't from the system. He was able to dedicate himself to anything, he loves to get things down to muscle memory. Also wanting to know if he could get something like ruins down to muscle memory. Alex isn't brave but he's difinitly not stupid.
Alex is cautious and he is about to put his mind and body to the test. Slimes have weak points in the center mass. Their weak points are moderate in size and are made of a soft material that is easily smashed or stabbed.
After looking at the map and reading the brief summary on what a slime was, Alex was ready for his first ruin run. With his sword on his hip shield on his arm he was ready.
His first step was a heavy one almost in an instant he felt his confidence shake but he kept moving. He wanted to at least get to the treasure room in a few hours. After wandering the stone halls for a while, and killing low level slimes as he saw them, his confidence returned as he was getting used to this.
Alex walked for about an hour and he kept track of the 43 slimes he has slaughtered so far most didn't stand a chance.
Alex was now at the boss room door. The door was stone and large, almost 7 meters tall and 2 meters wide with intricate markings. Some carved, others imbued with metal, it was truly something to behold. He took a deep breath and remembered that the map said it's a giant slime, he has never seen a giant slime before. Alex thinks to himself "It's just a big slime. It probably has the same weakness as the little guys. I should be able to take care of it." With that being said Alex took a moment to collect all of his thoughts for the upcoming battle. He pushed down all of his thoughts about his parents and at this moment he promised to himself that no matter what he will never go back to Hamellio. Alex's final thought was "Goodbye Mom, goodbye Dad, I did love you."
