Chereads / Hooked by his Fangs / Chapter 4 - Vampire's attack

Chapter 4 - Vampire's attack

Truthfully, I don't exactly know what are we finding. But the sole thing I know is, I'm already weary of disclosing something I couldn't or we know we won't ever discern.

All of us are already here in the woodland. Our professors advised us not to cross the flags that has been placed on different trees. Trevor and I are reclining under the big coconut tree. Both of us were just resting and trying to find that egg that is impossible to see.

"I think, we're finding something that is not even existing," I hysterically cackled before rolling my eyes.

Trevor, on the other hand, smirked. "Like my feelings for you that you couldn't even see?"

I was astonished by his sentence.

No students are imminent us. It means, no one hears what he just said. My eyebrows arched. I even chuckled awkwardly to hoist the mood. I don't want to suppose and assume things I shouldn't.

What he just said made my heart, throb. Trevor lazily inclined his head while still bestowing me with his serious gaze.

I chuckled, "Didn't know you were once a joker,"

But instead of laughing with me, Trevor remained quiet and gruff. I thwarted and covered my mouth.

"I'm not joking, Leandra." He uttered.

"We're friends, Trevor," I mumbled. "Don't try to irk me."

He chuckled without wit on it, "Do you think I'm joking, Leandra?"

"I have no time for your bullshit hoaxes, Trevor. Let's go."

To be honest, what he just told me affected me. What if my intuition is right? That Trevor likes me? But no, he knew that all I could offer to boys who likes and wanted to court me is friendship.

I'm a liar if I won't concede what I felt. Hearing those things coming out of his mouth gives me fake scenarios in my mind.

Both of us were just silently walking. No one dared to talk right after what happened earlier. It seems like between us, no one is interested in breaking the silence. I was about to take another step forward when I felt like my body is about to go down because of the rock I mistakenly stepped in. Fortunately, I felt a decisive hand catching me.

He tsked, "Careful."

"I-I'm sorry..."

I meandered my eyes around, trying to divert my attention from finding that damn egg when Trevor spoke.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" He inquired out of nowhere.

My eyebrows went up, "About what?"

"I told you I like you,"

"I told you to stop bullshiting me, Trevor."

He chuckled, "You scared our friendship might ruin?"

Yes. The memories with him are one of the reasons that are keeping me alive and continue to go on. If ever both of us will commit to each other, what will happen if.. both of us wanted to separate in the future?

As much as possible, I don't want to complicate things with him. I treasure Trevor a lot and I don't want to lose him in any under circumstances.

"We've been friends for decades, Trevor. You know I wouldn't settle for something like this," I said while still waddling while pretending I'm looking for something.

"I understand if you can't reciprocate my feelings to you, Leandra. I can wait,"

Giving attention to those words coming out from his mouth made me ease. At least, he's aware that I don't like him but he's also hoping I can pay back his feelings. Eradicating a friendship isn't easy, not when you treasured it for years and then abruptly, you'll gonna bet on something you're not sure about.

"You don't have to wait, Trevor." I asserted, "I don't have any plans to destroy our friendship,"

"I don't give up easily, Leandra," he said. "Seems like you forgot that's one of my traits,"

I was left there hanging. My mouth formed into awe but no words came out from my lips. Trevor kept on walking, disregarding my existence behind him.

I bit my lower lip because of what he just said. Nevertheless, I tried compelling what he just said into the back of my mind. Completely disregarded it.

The clouds begins covering the sun. It is when I run towards Trevor and chatted to him.

"It's getting late. We should find the others before darkness overtakes us and unable to get out," I said.

"Good point."

The five of us decided to separate our ways earlier. Rose, Brooke, and Lucas are in the same group looking for more branches we could use earlier. Also, Trevor and I. Finding the egg are one of our mission, yes. But also finding branches for our bonfire was expanded since we don't want to freeze to death later.

We went back to where we started. It took us a few minutes before arriving where we were earlier. Umpiring by the entire forest, I think all of the students were already back in the camp.

I breathed a sigh of solace when I saw the three resting under the big tree. The birds who were just chirping earlier went back into the trees as well as bats started to fly away in groups. A sign that it's almost dark.

"Hey," Lucas recognized us. "I speculated you were worn down by ugly creatures," he jokingly said.

"Lol. I thought you don't believe in such?" Trevor said before pointing the stick he has on the ground.

Brooke cackled. He still has his camera on his side. "Of course. Lucas was once a hypocrite,"

"Shut your mouth, man. I'm not obsessed with supernatural and paranormal things like you," Lucas surly said.

I chuckled, "Why don't we just go back to our camp since it's already getting dark?"

"Good idea," Rose agreed.

All of them agreed. We went to where our imprints are but when we get there, no drawings of chalks are already there, painted in the trees. Our marks. The direction out of the forest, our camp.

"Holy sh-t. We don't have a map!" Rose freaked out.

Brooke conceded. "They didn't give us one,"

"We're screwed..." I weakly uttered.

Trevor held his thick and long stick again. "No. We're not. Don't think negative things, Leandra. Let's keep on rolling. We'll surely find out the exit."

At first, I was hesitant to follow. But it seems like the four are persistent. Judging by Rose's looks, I know she's already tired. She just chose to stay quiet since I know how much my lovely friend wanted to take a rest. Exhaustion in everyone's eyes was seen.

Trevor was the one who was steering the way. Among all of us, he's the smart one and has a sharp memory.

I flinched when I heard a rustle near us that brought shivers from my skin down to my spine. My hands immediately went to Brooke's.

"Did you guys hear that?" I asked, feeling frightened.

Even Rose held on to my left arm. "Goodness, Leandra... I'm trying to divert my attention thinking we'll get out of here safe," she hissed.

Her voice cracked as well as ours. Trevor looked at us. We slowed our pace upon walking. Trevor decided to get close to us. However, just in a snap, we all shrieked when we saw a man in front, looking at us with his red bright eyes.

As time passed by, the whole forest became vague. We have no flashlight or torches with us. Our professors clearly said we should go back before the sunset but we never did.

The bats that has been resting on the trees suddenly flew away.

"Sh-t, sh-t!" Trevor uttered profanity harshly.

"Turn around! Turn around!" Lucas muttered.

Rose whined because of it. We just took a few steps when three more men came behind us. One in front, one from the back, one from the left and the right. All of them are wearing ebony clothes.

A smirk crept on their lips when they saw the tension in us. Brooke, who's obsessed with the supernatural, found himself panicking in front of these undefined creatures.

"Grab a good-mn weapon, Brooke!" Trevor piped.

Both Lucas and Trevor were handling a stick, it comes across like they are ready to fight them no matter what.

"Who are you, people?" Lucas roughly asserted.

The three men were having a circle shape while we were in the average space. My knees started to tremble when the realization hit me. I twice saw their eyes on the forest and someone among them at the top of the tree yesterday.

Fear was flickered on my face.

All of them were lads. One tilted his head and gave us a big smirk. "Who among these humans I should first eat?" He said cockily.

They are tall, pale, and have red lips. All of them were looking at us like we were some sort of prey. Our concept became prey and a hunter. The four of them began walking toward us.

Trevor tried to whirl his stick as well as Lucas who perpetrated the same.

"Who are you, people? What do you need from us?"

My eyes went to Rose who was already crying out of fear. "L-Leandra..." She subconsciously said.

The edge of my eyes started getting humid, a sign that my tears wanted to roll down. Panic, nervousness, and anxiety are all that I felt. Their red eyes shined bright furthermore.

"Master only wants that girl, right?" The one who has a clean cut said before pointing his fingers at me. "Does that mean we could drink these four humans' blood?"

I clung tightly to Trevor who was just grasping my arms tightly as well. The three decided to make another small circle since all of them are getting adjacent.

"You can't touch one of us!" Trevor stormed. His jaw clenched out of anger and fear.

I thought they are just ordinary. But when the four gritted their teeth, fangs came out. We all got stunned for a moment in terror

Pale skin, red lips, tall, bright red eyes and looks young. A typical feature or definition for...

"Vampires," I merely said.

Slowly, my eyes meandered around. They were about to attack us when I heard a cold, profound, dark baritone voice behind us; enunciated.

"F-cking stop!" He stormed, creating another group of birds and bats flying away.

Things happened too fast. I thought the man who was about to attack me ceased when we heard his voice but my vision became blurry as I felt a sharp thing infiltrate my lower stomach.

Making me wail, feel cold-blooded, and vulnerable.
