"Are you okay?" Rose once raised a question while I'm crouching in front of our bonfire.
It's cold. I don't exactly know what's the temperature tonight. All I can say is... we're still pleased because there are still branches of woods we've discovered inside the forest earlier.
The one I'm wearing since earlier is still intact. A heavy jacket, pants, and shoes.
I judder out of cold, "It's really cold today, huh?"
Lucas and Trevor showed up, "It always does, Lean," he lazily said and went beside me.
The moon is already visible. It's already night time and we haven't had our dinner yet. The one we'll be having for tonight is cup noodles we bought the other day. We've done a few activities earlier like running and doing twenty laps.
Of course, not all of us joined. It's not compulsory tho.
"Leandra," Trevor called out and instantly went to where I was sitting. He stretched his arms out and offered me a barbecue.
"Where did you get this?" I consulted.
He smirked instead of retorting me, "Just eat, young lady."
Rose pouted, "Hello! I'm your friend also!" She sulky said.
A sexy chuckle came out of his mouth. "I'm sorry but it's only for Leandra."
Trevor felt a soft punch in her waist. He just laughed while Rose was just scowling. It's hot and I couldn't touch it. I plan to give rose the other half. We must know how to give others if we have something they yearn for, as well.
Rose and I had been friends ever since before. It's just that... she's just in the different section way back when we were still junior and senior high school students.
I was dumbfounded when I saw her too in our section when the classes started.
The one who cooked our dinner was Brooke and Lucas. We prefer having unlimited hot cup noodles instead can foods. Just like what I said, a lot of our block mates and other students are already having their dinner. Some have a barbecue, cooked soup like us, noodles or in can goods.
"Look at the girls who approached us earlier," Rose whimpered while we were busy eating.
My forehead immediately creased, "Hmm?"
"I think she's looking at us angrily. Or... Was it only for you?"
When I lifted my gazes, it was the girl's eyes whom I saw first. I'm sitting across the three as Rose is beside me. Her gazes automatically rolled when she saw me peeking at her.
Even her friends, a suspicious look is what they gave. It seems like the three were talking, not to mention Rose and I do.
"Just ignore her, Rose," I mumbled back.
My heart throbbed out of fear. I don't wanna oppose someone during our camp or in our school, I should confront that girl as soon as possible.
I don't wanna conflict things up even more. After I finished my food, I told them I'll go inside first since I couldn't help to freeze in cold. I stood up and went inside our tent. Little did I know, even Rose came inside as well.
"I have something to say," she said, a little bit intrigued.
My eyebrow shut up, "Yeah?"
"The girl who approached us earlier. Was it Erin Wilton and her friends? She was kind of popular way back our senior year. Right?"
I immediately shook my head, "No. I don't know her," I retorted.
"Okay," she halted and leaned across to me. "So, our dearest friend, Trevor, I think Erin has a crush on him."
Trevor is handsome, yes. A lot of people were having a crush on him since before. He's not that rich but a popular soccer player in our university. He's tall, handsome, and has this prominent jaw that almost girls on our campus are crazy with, no wonder why Claret and other girls flock on his path.
I don't even know how we exactly met. I forgot the day Trevor and I became friends. But the only thing I can remember is, we always got each other's back ever since before.
A lot of people have been shipping us. No, scratch that. People think we're in a relationship. Sometimes, I receive hate from everyone, sometimes... not.
"He's an athlete. A soccer player. Of course, a lot of girls would flock on his path throughout the school year," I asserted before chuckling.
Rose rolled her eyes, "There's even a rumor that Trevor and Erin were dating. But based on what he said towards her earlier, he wasn't that even interested."
Not gonna lie, Erin is pretty. She's effin hot and for sure, men flocks on her door, too.
"Who knows? Trevor isn't telling it to us yet." I beamed.
Rose scoffed, "As far as I can remember, you're the best friend. God, will you allow your best friend to keep secrets away from you? If I were you, I will probably sulk," she rolled her eyes at me.
She got a point right there tho. Trevor is vocal to me. He'll tell everything including girls who are stalking him, girls he dated, private conversation, and such. But I never reckoned of Trevor keeping a secret from me.
My throat went dry upon hearing it from her. We've been friends for decades already. I don't think Trevor would do that to me.
Our attention went to Brooke who opened the tent's zipper and came inside to call us.
"Come out. Professor Jack and Professor Enzo are gathering us,"
Right.
Rose was the one who first came out. When I roamed my eyes around, even the students who were inside their designated tents are also coming out.
Trevor immediately went on me when he saw me. He entrusted his hand making me hold into it and stood up.
"Bestfriends, huh." I heard Lucas taunted.
I saw how Trevor gave him a sharp look. Lucas just scoffed and looked away lazily. All of us walked towards where the others is. There's a huge bonfire in front, a lot of students are already sitting on the grass while professors who are with us are in the middle.
Trevor sat down in the area that aren't occupied. I was about to get seated when he stopped me from doing so and placed something like a shirt on the ground.
My eyebrows instantly shut up, "What's that?"
"Sit on it, so your clothes won't get dirty," he said firmly.
I whirled my eyes at him, "Tss."
"Gosh, these two," Brooke grumbled.
All of us were just sitting next to each other. Brook pulled out his camera and started filming something for his vlog.
Most of the students are chattering while the professors are still in the middle, still conversing about what will happen.
"Hey, guys! Welcome to my vlog. It's me, Brooklyn. So, we're here right now in the forest. We'll go egg hunting tomorrow and ghost hunting when–" Brooke was cut off when Lucas intervened.
"Assh*le. What are you trying to say? Anyway, hey guys!"
Rose and I sighed heavily upon hearing the two getting wild right after Brooke opened his cam. He's an aspiring vlogger and he's into paranormal activities, particularly ghost hunting, zombie apocalypse, ghost pranks, anything about paranormal.
He always brings his camera with him. He likes capturing nature as well. I flinched when Professor Jack clapped his hands making my heart plunge out of shock.
The students stopped talking to each other. It is when another science professor came in on where they are again. A total of three professors to be exact.
"I only have one question before we start, Prof!" My friend, Brooke, raised his hands while carrying his camera.
All of us looked at him.
"Ask away Mr. Jones,"
He stood up, "My grandmother told me why people don't go here. She told me a lot of supernatural things often happen here such as a bat turning into a human, a snake becoming a beautiful lady, and ghosts. How true is that?"
My hands went to my mouth. Many people gasped and were stunned because of what Brooke told us.
Even the three professors became quiet, hearing things that weren't even true. Professor Enzo chortle without humor in it.
"Of course not. That wasn't true. I stayed here for three days with my fellow hikers before. As for our experience, nothing supernatural things happened," he said.
Another student lifted his hand. Professor Jack nodded at her.
"I got the same story from my grandmother, Prof. That's why I'm a bit hesitant going here."
We're already in the twenty-first century. Hearing this kind of thing made me sneer. I don't believe in ghosts, yes. They're already dead, we shouldn't get afraid of them.
People who are alive have the biggest chance and can still harm us. They're the people who will slap you, do inappropriate things with you. Anything.
In my own opinion, I'm not really into topics like this. But what piqued my interest is when my eyes went on the tree in front of me. For the second time around, a figure of a masculine man was above it, sitting as if he was watching us.
My heart throbbed when the familiar pair of red eyes went directly to where I was.
"Oh my God..." I mumbled.
